15.01.2022 Take action NOW! Posted @withregram @avocabeachsurf Repost from @save_our_coast using @RepostRegramApp - STOP PEP 11 - SAVE OUR COAST LINK IN BIO TO TAKE ACTION TODAY Drilling for fossil fuels off the iconic NSW coast?... TAKE ACTION TODAY to STOP PEP 11. Our beautiful coast and our way of life is under threat. Oil and Gas companies' shocking plans to drill for fossil fuels off our favourite beaches are being approved while we have been distracted with COVID 19, risking devastating the coastal ecosystem, the climate, and our way of life. The iconic NSW coast is designated Petroleum Exploration Permit 11 (the Offshore Sydney Basin), 4,500km of ocean from Manly through the Central Coast to Newcastle. Approvals (from NOPTA - the title administrator) for drilling and to extend the PEP 11, Offshore Sydney Basin title (due to expire in early 2021) are apparently imminent. Our beloved coast, within the world renowned whale migration path and dolphin habitat, turned into a Petroleum Exploration zone? Drilling and rigs off our favourite beaches that risk devastating the coast and climate and our way of life for gas that we do not need?! Two thirds of our gas is exported, and methane, the main component of gas, is 84 times more destabilising to the climate than carbon dioxide, which will accelerate our path to climate destruction risking more extreme weather, coral bleaching, acidification of oceans and rising sea levels. Drilling in the ocean risks pollution and an oil spill which would destroy the coast of the NSW and beyond, harming millions of marine creatures, communities and the economy. TAKE ACTION NOW Head to the link in our bio to read more and send an email (all with one click!) to your Federal and State MP, and to the Minsters responsible for approving the extension of PEP 11. Help spread the word! Share this post in your Instagram story, and send it to your friends and family. The more emails sent, the higher chance we have of saving our coast. They call it PEP 11 - we call it home. Speak up to STOP PEP 11 today. #SaveOurC See more
