23.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS!! First home buyers of existing and new properties costing up to $650,000 will be exempt from paying stamp duty and receive stamp duty concessions for properties worth up to $850,000 under reforms announced by Premier Gladys Berejiklian today to improve housing affordability in NSW. As well, stamp duty charged by banks on lenders' mortgage insurance will be abolished and there will be stamp duty concessions for properties bought off the plan to help first home b...uyers compete with investors. In other measures, the stamp duty surcharge for foreign investors will be doubled to 8 per cent and on land tax from 0.75 per cent to 2 per cent. The measures will take effect from July 1. Interesting times ahead.

05.01.2022 From 1 July 2017, all Australian residents selling real estate for more than $750,000 will need to apply for a 'Clearance Certificate' from the ATO. It used to be more than $2,000,000 prior to the Budget announcement. The Vendor MUST attach this Certificate to the Contract of Sale or serve it upon the Purchaser prior to completion. If the Vendor does not do this, the Purchaser must withhold 12.5% of the Price and pay this to the ATO. ... Clearance Certificates are valid for 12 months. If transacting property for more than $750,000 in NSW, get your solicitor to order it and to attach it to the contract of sale.
