21.01.2022 Do you want to know how summer camp changes your life? Check out Emers camp experience below: "I spent three summers working at two different summer camps with the help of CCUSA. Before going to camp, I had never travelled by myself and I hadnt got much confidence in myself. There are not many places in this world like camp. When I first arrived, I was completely out of my comfort zone. I was surrounded by a lot of new people who sang at the top of their lungs and danced on... the benches during most meals. It didnt take me long to find my place, as everybody does at camp My favourite thing about camp is that everybody is there for the campers. My role at camp was to teach guitar every day. Getting to know each child with some just discovering their passion for music, some with a goal to learn a song to show their parents on visitors day or some coming to simply talk to somebody who cared. These unique experiences helped me to consider a career in music therapy, a career that Im not sure I would have the confidence to pursue if it werent for my summers at camp." #AnAdventureToRemember

17.01.2022 This year was really different in so many ways from testing, social distancing, wearing a face mask and reworking the program. Not long into this new practice, everything became normal and being in the middle of a pandemic, it was cool to give the kids the normality of camp life. The thought of travelling to the United States and leaving the safe bubble of New Zealand in June was a little terrifying but driving back through the camp gates for that first time, I knew I had made the right decision because I had the overwhelming feeling of coming home. 10.01.2022 "Summer Camp 2020! Wow what an experience, I was off to camp 2 weeks earlier then expected after having my camp cancelled and re hired to Camp Chippewa inc. James and Kelly made all of us feel like family and helped make the transition into camp life so much easier. Working with the Arapahos - the 7 year old boys was different to what I expected. It wasnt until I realised that these kids were looking to me to make their summer unforgettable that I realised how important my role was and I tried my absolute best to do that for them.
