24.01.2022 Happy Friday! We have Chibi Raagul SV to share his experience with us about finding jobs as an International Student in Australia. He also gives us some tips to make job search easier. "Starting the write up on a positive note, Australia has plenty of opportunities to work and grow, 6 months in Australia as an international student has shown me that.... As international students, we usually look for part-time and casual roles just to break even with our living expenses. While part-time roles require your commitment for a longer time period, there are casual roles that appear on and off. They pay well and are relatively short term. If I was to put down tips to make these job searches easier, - Be open-minded about the job you can take up. Everyone is respected and you are fine if your job isnt harmful, illegal, or stressful. - Talk to people, ask questions, inquire about opportunities without hesitation, and request to be referred. A reference works better than an exceptional cover letter. (Exceptional CV helps too) - There are always people on the lookout for staff. ALWAYS. Find them. Follow them. Recruitment agencies, third-party promotional agencies, companies with seasonal demands, Event management industries. Register with them, Social media handles, Email subscription, and anything and everything that gives you information. Information is wealth. - Gain some experience beforehand, any experience and prepare a pitch that speaks about your experience, toned to sound relevant to the job you are applying. - Last but not least, be prepared for rejections. A reject doesnt mean you didnt meet the requirements, it means they found someone that made their job easier. Next time try to be that someone. All the best!" Thank Chibi Raagul SV again for sharing his valuable experience with us. Have a great weekend! #StudyWorkLive #InternationalStudents #CDCIS #Melbourne #Australia #Victoria #Study #Work #Student #International #WorkExperienceSharing #WorkinAustralia

23.01.2022 Hey, hows your new semester? It is hard to start school again after so much fun. Before you know it, however, youll make good friends and new, wonderful memories. This week, we have Eldhose to share his story as an international student in Australia. Check it out! My name is Eldhose and I just moved to Australia. Its only been a week so I am still finding my way around. I am a mechanical engineer and now I am studying my masters degree at JCU. In the future, I would l...ike to see myself working at a reputed engineering firm. Hopely that happens soon. I also like to think of my self as a sporty individual. I love to entertain myself by playing cricket. Additionally, as I live in Townsville, Queensland and The Great Barrier Reef is very close to my residence, I would love to find some time to visit places such as The Great Barrier Reef. Furthermore, everything I was hoping for before coming to Australia, I have found it in Australia and actually a lot more than that. My aim is to complete my masters and then find a job through which I can support myself and my family. So, thats the end. Hope you like it! If you would like to share your story with us, please do not hesitate to send us an email at [email protected]. 16.01.2022 Hi there! Hows your week been? We have a little something different for you all this week. We thought it would be a good idea to get you all to get out for a little bit for this one, rather than have us bring you all an inspiring story at your door like we usually do. And this time, we are also hoping that you would all come along with bags and socks full of questions for the lovely speaker of the night who will be waiting at Federation Square (Cnr Flinders and Swanston str...eets, Melbourne VIC 3000, Deakin Edge) to take up all of your questions with a big smile! Michelle Grattan has been a member of the Canberra parliamentary press gallery for more than 40 years, during which time she has covered all the most significant stories in Australian politics. She will be hosting the Your Q/A with Michelle Grattan on the 24th April this year, so bring along all of your questions to ask one of Australias most respected political reporters about the state of the nations politics, especially as Australia moves closer and closer to the upcoming federal election this year. Click below for further details regarding the event, location and cost and we look forward to seeing you all there! #StudyWorkLive #InternationalStudents #CDCIS #Melbourne #Australia #Victoria #Study #Work #Student #International #Internationalstudentsofmelb #internationalstudentofAustralia

14.01.2022 Hows your week been? Tonight, one of our friend Kelvin shared his story of finding job in Australia as an international student. "The Australian job market is tough. I still remember, as an eighteen year old, fresh out of high school, I made my resume, filled it in with all the things Ive done and achieved and walked around in the Australia summer heat that - we all are coincidently enjoying very much today - from retail stores to food outlets looking for a job. Not only w...as I full of disappointment, but I think I came back home a shade darker than I left the house with (trust our brown skin to do that to us). Growing up introvert in a strict orthodox family, I was quiet and shy which didnt help me at all. After a lot of hunting, I landed my first ever job at an Indian restaurant. It was everything that it shouldnt have been - long hours, low wages. I lasted two weeks. Then came along a series of sales/delivery jobs until I finally landed a position at a reputable company - thanks to my time as an intern at the same company few years back - where I work 9-5 and I absolutely love it. So what have I learned from my experience? The Australia job market is tough - but its not impossible. Throughout my journey into the market, Ive found that you have to put yourself out there and make yourself known to people. Do not be shy. Put yourself out there. Networking is key because you never know when an opportunity might come knocking on your door. Do not be embarrassed to speak or ask questions. Be confident and keep your head high - always. My journey has just started - Im excited to see where my life takes me next."

13.01.2022 / Oh look! Its Valentines Day already! Whos feeling lonely and unspoiled?? (Not us!!) Thats because, we have the lovely Chinami and Chris with us today who have decided to be very brave for our sake and share a very personal (and totally cheesy) story with us all today! (Remember folks, we are just kidding, and we dont mean any offence to anybody at all!!) Lets introduce Chinami and Chris before we dive into their story. Chinami and Chris both first arrived in Austr...alia in 2015, with the dreams to pursue high quality education and launch a successful career in the beautiful and vibrant city of Melbourne. Although, Chinami and Chris had to leave their own beautiful countries behind (Japan and China), both were also very excited about coming to Melbourne and starting a new chapter in their lives. And what a great start to the journey it was! Turns out Chris and Chinami were both enrolled in the same class at the Deakin English Language College and instantly became good friends (although it mightve been a little more than that on Chinamis side at the start). And thats how began a wonderful and loveable relationship, their relationship made them both feel a little less lonely and homesick in a country that wasnt yet their own. Both looked forward to seeing each other whenever they could and being with each other gave them the strength they needed to work harder and create a new life in a foreign country. Both also found immense joy in learning more about each others country, language and culture so that they could better connect with each other and leverage the similarities and differences to form a much stronger relationship. Today, Chris is studying Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University while Chinami is currently on a Working Holiday Visa in Australia and both always look forward to spending some quality time with each other whenever they can. We wish them all the best with their studies and work and hope they continue to bring each other joy for a long time! 05.01.2022 Hi guys, hows your summer break? Ready to back to school/work? :) Today we have Mano, the President of our Council to share her story as an international student in Melbourne. Check this out! If you would like to share your story with us, please do not hesitate to send us an email at [email protected]. 1. A bit about yourself. After studying electronics engineering in my under-grad, I drifted into Bangalores infamous IT industry for 3 years. I then decided to pursu...e my Masters in Business Information Systems at Monash University, to help me take the next step in my career. 2. Your career aspirations? I would want to work on projects where I contribute to something significant and big. I do feel like Im on right path, for now. I want to grow in a global platform, and hope to learn something new at every step of my career. 3. What do you like to do outside of study and work? Im an explorer and an outdoor person. I never turn down an opportunity to meet new people. I love going for hikes, treks, trying out new restaurants or cusines, going to the cultural festivals around Melbourne. I love playing badminton and Im always up for a swim. I am hoping to learn surfing and scuba diving as well.Being a trained dancer, Im on the lookout for some classes here. 4. Favourites places to visit in Melbourne or somewhere you would like to go/do? I havent had the chance to explore much yet Swimming in the Great Barrier Reef has been on top of my bucket list from years. Trying out new restaurants and going to the beach is my favorite pastime here. 5. Have your expectations been met as an international student? Melbourne is a plethora of opportunities and a vibrant mix of culture. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of different people be it from industries, different phases of their careers, different interests and passions. Melbourne has managed to surprise me always and it surely has surpassed my expectations. 6. Whats next? "Life is what happens when you are busy planning it", so dont forget to have fun while you are planning. Making sure you have a clear career path is essential. But then again I didnt want to miss out on things like spotting shooting stars while stargazing, meeting new people and connecting to a point that we planned sleepovers by the end of the night, the opportunity to organize events in a foreign country. I believe there is no better time to experiment and explore than now, the present. So just Plan & Prioritize. Stay tuned for more updates and stories. Feel free to message us if you have any inquiry.
