25.01.2022 I'm back, I've missed you and I've got news! Probably also need a hair cut ...

25.01.2022 Looking forward to this. Serious respect and gratitude to Tristan Harris and Center for Humane Technology for having the conversations we should all be listening to.

23.01.2022 Many of you will have heard me talk about cognitive deficits and hyperactivity. To really balance ourselves, it's important to know that we're "probably getting it a bit wrong" as I often say. It's important in relation to ourselves and others and especially children. Here's some great research that might help us help the next generations to do better. If you have a small child, I do recommend looking into the work of people like Janet Lansbury and Resources for Infant Educarers and Teacher Tom who are doing great work in trying to improve our broken early education system (and early childhood attitudes in general). Lemme know what you think!

23.01.2022 No comment required (though I seem to have made one anyway).

23.01.2022 Here's a timely infographic!

22.01.2022 I often meet people really keen to make big changes in their life get out from under overwhelm, as I like to say. They know continuing on won’t get them results and are ready to transform their lives. It’s inspiring but also makes me nervous The bigger the change, the harder it is to maintain, which means the more likely you are to fall off the wagon. And then you run into the biggest obstacle of all ... Thinking that making radical transformation is too hard or (worse still) not possible. For sure, you need some accountability someone to motivate and keep you on track, but you also need a strategy that will get you long-term results. And this means starting small so small you can’t screw it up. Then you have wins and can very quickly build up to ever bigger transformation that will turn the course of your life, career and relationships around. All because you were enthusiastic AND smart about it. That’s why I love this video the simple building block of becoming a Navy Seal, which is quite a lot of work, as I understand it. So start small use the resources you’ve downloaded to identify situations where you will relax rather than react. This is no small matter it’s the building block of something huge. You just need a sensible strategy making your bed is a great place to start! If you want to know more about the Beyond Mindfulness Method as a way to make these changes, send me a message or leave a comment below. https://youtu.be/uTlhfjjEWD0

22.01.2022 Procrastination - a topic near and dear to my heart ... but I never get around to writing about it This article is a creative way of thinking and I really like the implications here - it speaks to one of the core elements of the Beyond Mindfulness Method approach which is about how you view yourself and how that informs your actions and habits. The discrepancies between your concept of your ideal self and the actual self is a source of stress for all of us at some point, bu...Continue reading

20.01.2022 This is a secular page, but the Buddhist roots are hardly a secret. Sorry for the short notice, but this might really interest some of you. Geshe Lhakdor is a phenomenal teacher and really gets the modern world. He spent about 15 years as translator for the Dalai Lama and seems to remember almost everything he ever translated. 7:30pm Queensland time.

19.01.2022 Tristan Harris and co. have really got some traction with their documentary - the Social Dilemma. Here's an interview worth watching and sharing ... I so rarely encounter commercial television, I thought I'd make a point of sharing something from "Sunrise" no less ...

17.01.2022 Click below for details of my new on-demand course - available to this community at a discount of 80%. This is just a recognition and appreciation of the work you've been doing on yourselves for so long. Contact me with any questions. http://bit.ly/BMM-early

17.01.2022 What an interesting story. A man whose theory about the inter-dependency of all things made academia (led by Oppenheimer) get together and agree to ignore him. It must have been heart-breaking, but he just kept going. This is worth some of your nerdy-time, if you have some spare!

16.01.2022 So, the Earlybird places for this new course has sold out, but there has been a lot of interest. So I thought to keep this price till Sunday night in case anyone wants to join the 30+ people who've already signed up. I want this online and in-person community to have an opportunity to get in at a "community-based" price before it creeps up as I get closer to launching it. Details in the link below - also five minutes of uninterrupted penguins - time well wasted!!

16.01.2022 This was in my newsfeed. Yes, I've had some marketing people help me out AND I've put together an online course. I'd like to give those of you who've been along for the ride an early-bird discount. It's a 12 week course with weekly live group sessions where I can answer questions and add a little extra material. Details here and by email in just a couple of days - I'm having trouble recovering from 12 days on Straddie.

14.01.2022 Check out the facial expressions - especially on the last two. Can you relate?

13.01.2022 I probably shouldn't make any comments. Many of you have heard me say this countless times, but here are some details as to why neuro-imaging isn't as useful as people like to make out AND some info on where it is actually useful. I'll take a moment to point out this piece is solid evidence that there are plenty of genuinely curious, objective and honest neuroscientists out there.

13.01.2022 Of course, you've heard this before! But it's worth remembering (see what I did there)? "Mindfulness is bearing in mind the intended, whatever you wish to focus on, something familiar, bearing something, whatever it is in mind, bearing in mind, without forgetfulness, without distraction." Alan Wallace

06.01.2022 So this is streaming now - free for a 48 hours. It's raining here, so perfect for tea and tv - also perfect for meditation, of course but I think this is also a good use of time!.

03.01.2022 I just got back from 12 days away - and I only did a little work for the first 5 of them! Now I'm back and thanks to the break, I'm already getting more done than before I went away. Even though I know the research (and my own experience) tells me to take more time off, I'm still surprised at how much better I feel after unplugging for even a short time. So today is Monday - if it's the first day of the week for you, I hope you've taken some time off over the weekend to wind down. And I hope you have the techniques to maintain the calm and relaxation through whatever you're headed for this week!

02.01.2022 Time well wasted? What do you think?
