16.01.2022 Today is world wombat day! How adorable are these little wombats enjoying a snooze. Unfortunately wombats don't understand what roads are and sometimes they get hit by cars. If you see a wombat hit on the road, please make sure to pull over somewhere safe and check it. The wombat may still be alive, or it may have a baby in its pouch in need of rescue! If you find an injured or orphaned animal, you can call Wildlife Victoria or take the animal to the closest Veterinary Clinic... (this is a free service, you won't have to pay!). They will find a local wildlife carer to rehabilitate the animal. Some facts you might not know about wombats: -Wombats are the largest burrowing animals in the world! -Their teeth get worn down from grazing and continue to grow throughout their whole life. -Wombats can run at over 40km/h for a short distance! -Female wombats only have one baby every 2 years. -Wombats can get infected with mange, which causes scabs and can lead to death. If you think you have seen a wombat with mange, you can contact Mange Management- Treating Mange in Wombats for help.
