24.01.2022 Here is a pretty Abstract for a lovely lady, Sylvia, whose home, with smooth, clean lines, looks out over the Downs. Her minimalist room of soft pinks and mushroom greys lend itself to this type of very large painting. It was a lovely challenge to use colours I don't usually deal with but I was very happy with the result. I really enjoyed it.

24.01.2022 'CHURCH QUIETNESS' 1ST People in Life Graphite on paper. This lovely little face was taken by my daughter in Vanuatu as they sat in church for a wedding. I tried to capture the stillness.

21.01.2022 I was lucky enough to win Champion Painting at Pittsworth Show in a strong field of other's works. This is a Watercolour I entered in the Open Section. It was done with very loose washes then brought together with negative shapes of dark to refine the petals. #watercolor#ceceliakrieg#watercolours#cecelia#watercolorflowers#peonyspaintingshowawards#Australianwatercolorartist

19.01.2022 After paintings MAGNOLIAS a couple of weeks ago I decided to do a quick study in Watercolour.and see what happened. So this is what eventuated. I will do it again much looser and see what happens.

19.01.2022 SYLVIA'S GUM LEAVES. Acrylic on Canvas 1m. X 1m. This is a commission for a dining room in a lovely minimalist home with only pale pinks and greens. The painting fitted perfectly, a soft, gentle feeling of looking out through the tree branches to a distant view. It looked so nice in it's new setting. Thanks Sylvia, see you at Art next year.

19.01.2022 AUGUSTINE. Graphite on tinted paper. 1 30 x 45 cm. This is Augustine, a family friend from Vanuatu. I am drawing friends and family members to practice getting an absolute likeness rather than just a face that could be anyone. The difficult part is getting that likeness in a portrait.

17.01.2022 LOOOKING OUT. This was a practice run for a commission in soft pink, green and soft greys. It was inspired by the great view from a beautiful minimalist house, looking over the Felton Valley to Toowoomba in the distsnce. 1m x 1m For Sale.

16.01.2022 The first little painting was given away as the Lucky Door Prize and the next is the one sold.

15.01.2022 I have been busy while at home so much and have done some more painting, unfortunately not all successfully but that's what happens when you try new things. It took me 4 weeks of painting every day to do a seascape in oils which is now drying. I will post it when my lovely clients see it first. I am drawing a lot as it is so time consuming and now that is something I have plenty of, time. As you can imagine, with a paint brush you can cover quite a big area in just a few minutes but with a pen it is thousands of little strokes of a pen to achieve just a few inches. So Covid 19 has given me the gift of time. Hope you are all happy and achieving something too.

14.01.2022 We have just had our annual Pittsworth Spring Art Exhibition and I'm happy to say, I sold three paintings. I can't find the third so will have to do some digging. Interestingly, it was the two Representational Landscapes the sold quickly.

14.01.2022 Here is a new painting of leaves from the ' My Garden' series. Acrylic on canvas 1 m x 1 m. For Sale.

14.01.2022 This is another beautiful old tree from Tasmania. This is a detail from a large drawing. 76 cm x 56 cm. This one took me over 2 weeks of drawing every day, thanks to Covid 19. Using paint is so much quicker than pen with all the detailed cross hatching.

10.01.2022 This beautiful tree is sadly one on many huge old trees that have sucomed to the pressures of weather, insects and possums in central Tasmania. It is sad but beautiful for an artist. But ......drawing with a pen is sooooo slow.

10.01.2022 THE OLD PINE, TASMANIA. Watercolour on 640gsm Arches paper Framed 80 x 98 cm $850.00... Here is my newest work. It was something a bit different to a normal watercolour as I used no washes, just very small markmaking wiith a tiny brush. I had done some very detailed pen drawings of old trees and decided to do one in paint. I used colour to represent the tone of the tree branches , warm and cool, dark and light so the form of the tree was clearly shown. A very different approach but fun.

09.01.2022 EVENING Oil on Canvas 120 x 60 cms I did this painting after Alan, my neice's husband, told me of a beautiful evening he experienced on the Sunshine Coast. It was slow progress but with Covid time I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to work every day unhurried. It has now found a home with them. Thanks, Tracy and Alan.

05.01.2022 Abstract on canvas. A happy painting I did yesterday for a friend. It was pleasing but really started to sing when I added the white marks/ flowers It just made all the difference.... Ceceliakriegart.#australianartist#acrylic on canvas#abstract# abstract flowers#burgundy flowers#

05.01.2022 A small oil representing my favourite element of the black soil plains...an isolated shed which to me is a symbol of our lives out here. Alone a lot of the time. Not necessarily lonely but alone, whether on a tractor or at home. That's the way it is.

04.01.2022 Ist. WATERCOLOUR Class Millmerran Show

04.01.2022 This is the early stage of a large Watercolour that is underway. I decided to do one of these lovely trees that were lost in the drought, in paint this time rather than pen. There are many more layers yet as the old pine tree has only recently died and has many more small, complicated branches to paint. I was going to leave it but it is a bit boring so I will increase the interest. I then have a final layer of something different which has the risk of ruining the whole thing, but sometimes we just have to jump and see where we land.

01.01.2022 MAGNOLIAS FOR SUE Acrylic on canvas SOLD... This painting, classic in design, was painted for a new Hamptons style house, lovely blues and whites and soft lines. The classic style fitted her house perfectly and looks great in the space on her wall. In the hot windy days and bush fires creating such heavy air that painting became extremely difficult as it dried way to fast. Perseverance prevailed and it came together in the end. # blue and white painting#acrylic painting#still life painting# magnolias#blueandwhite vases#ceceliakriegart#australianartist#pittsworth QLD.artist# traditional art#

01.01.2022 I have been watching/ listening to a lot of artist pod casts lately and, not having finished Art College.... went out west on an adventure.......have often wondered what my artistic life would have been if I had gone through like so many others. Now I think I did the right thing. The number of hugely successful painters from around the world who have rubbished their college endeavors as really irrelevant, and in many cases damaging to their art and their spirit, has amazed me.... They were made to only paint Abstract Impressionism, very little drawing, and what they did was rarely accurate. One American tutor of 35 years, came to paint with one of these bloggers and could not draw at all !!!. So now I am content to have made my own path, learned what I needed to learn, and developed as I have needed to do. The internet has opened my world and I 'STUDY' every day now. It is all accessible to me. I love it. Hopefully you can see the results of all this hard work. See more
