24.01.2022 Families, have you thought about other resources such as this to help you prepare yourself and your child for transitioning to school?

21.01.2022 Have you ever thought how powerful your words and intentional responses in learning can be for your child?

19.01.2022 R U OK Day Take the time to listen and notice when you should ask more than R U Ok? An open ended conversation could change a life! Find ways to ask children if they are feeling happy. What are some changes they would like to see to feel safe, comfortable and secure at home, school and sport. Take care of each other

10.01.2022 Thank you to all of the children, families and educators that participated, and spoilt educators with gifts and kind comments to celebrate The Early Childhood Educators Day yesterday. It did make us feel very special. Our managers with Global Sky Education also shouted us a lovely morning tea which was greatly appreciated.

09.01.2022 This week is Child Protection Week. At Cedar Avenue we support children and families to understand what this means. In light of this week. I’d like to take the opportunity to highlight the 2020 theme which is Putting children first. As parents have you ever considered that you are doing everything you can for your own children including children that you know in your community? Have you ever felt the need to take the time to listen and ask open ended questions? Be brave and... have a discussion about supporting the child if it means having difficult conversations with other adults. It’s our responsibility as adults to put the child first. I will be providing these resources accessible to families. Please come and see me Jaimi (Centre Manager) for a discussion if you’d like. I will also have local contact information to supporting organsations. Protecting children also means allowing suitable medical care, food and clothing. It means preparing your child with the knowledge of reaching out to friends and family they feel comfortable with. Children are humans too, they need nurturing, guidance and protection. They need you! https://www.napcan.org.au//2/12/listeningtoyoungpeople.pdf

08.01.2022 Experiences such as this activity path provide calming solutions and an outlet to re focus their minds. Educator Mr Kyle had found the idea online and researched why it would help the children at Cedar after identifying a need for children with developing social skills. mr Kyle took great initiative in utilising how to set this up in the environment. Instructions were given to the children on which physical movements to make including jumping to the water troughs toward the end to get a drink. This experience has supported health, inclusion, self regulation and collaborative learning. Great job Mr Kyle, the children have been having a great time!

04.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone. Here’s some thought for today. This article will blow you away. It’s worth 5 minutes. The connections in a child’s brain builds and develops based on ‘serve and return’ engagements. Much like a game of tennis, volleyball or ping -pong. The back and forth connection builds capacity and nurturing fun in the relationship. If you think about it the less educators and family members are there to continue the serve and return connection the less likely they are to develop than other young minds. Have a great weekend everyone.

01.01.2022 RE: PLEASE HELP US BY DONATING SOME OLD SCHOOL UNIFORMS. Good morning families, to support our Kindergarten children transitioning to formal schooling next year. I’d like to get them excited visually about what they will look like in their uniforms. I was wondering if any families were able to donate an old uniform or two. These will be placed in the home corner area for children to see the different community uniforms and try on at Kindy to proudly show their friends which school they’d be attending. Thanks in advance for any help with this idea. Jaimi Woodland Centre Manager
