21.01.2022 Did you know the Grampians National Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape containing Traditional Owner sites that are more than 20,000 years old? Kno...wn as ‘Gariwerd’, this cultural landscape is much more than its physical features with all of the lands, waterways, plants, animals and night skies retaining deep spiritual and cultural meaning to Traditional Owners. We’ve released a draft management plan to help protect and celebrate this landscape, including by recognising Aboriginal place names, helping visitors learn about the cultural landscape, and applying traditional land management practices, such as cultural burning.
