25.01.2022 Who gets married on a Monday? Well my lovely couples do! In fact on Monday 22nd June, I had 2 weddings in 1 day...& both were as unique & stunning as they were beautiful. First up was Narda & Dave who were adamant about keeping their elopement small & simple. They knew of a gorgeous park in Talle Valley, so we met there at 10am, found the perfect tree & with Dave's daughter Claire & her partner James as witnesses (as well as their daughter Aurora), made ourselves a new Mr & M...rs. No styling, no professional photographer, just us, the amazing trees & lots of love & good vibes. Then I was off to my secret elopement spot in Broadbeach for the surprise wedding of @shannonjaffray & @i.heriot (swipe left to check them out) . Their guests were just told to meet at our ceremony spot at 3.30 & as they arrived & saw Ian in a suit, they all knew something big was about to happen...the reactions were priceless! Then Shannon walked down the aisle & we got them hitched exactly 10 years after their first date...what a way to celebrate a decade of togetherness! The weather was amazing but not as amazing as the gorgeous weddings I had the honour of officiating! 23.01.2022 Happy 1st anniversary Alex & Alicia: these 2 have a big place in my heart! The short story is: they met in 2008 at high school when Alex was 13 & Alicia was 14. Alex was a kid who kind of lived on the streets & couch-surfed & Alicia's family had just moved to Australia as Venezuelan political refugees. Even though Alex was a 'bad boy', Alicia saw something good in him & wanted to help him. They became friends & she brought him over to her house so he could have a decent... feed...and their friendship grew into something so much stronger! Alicia was 16 when she gave birth to their daughter Mia & Alex, as a 15-year old dad, was a little uncertain if he wanted to take on such a huge responsibility at such a young age. But daily visits to his daughter made him realise that he wanted to be a part of their lives and together they made a beautiful young family. Alex moved in with Alicia's family, they finished highschool, found jobs and continued to be the most committed, loving, devoted parents you could ever meet. A great work opportunity saw them even move to Melbourne for 12 months but then they moved back to the Coast & had their gorgeous daughter Scarlett in 2018...which delayed their wedding plans by 12 months but on 02.08.19, they said 'I Do' at home with just close family & friends! In order to secure his families' future, Alex is currently studying Engineering at University (after teaching himself all types of hard maths from books borrowed from the library) & I just have an enormous amount of respect & admiration for these amazing people. 20.01.2022 Covid is the biggest party pooper of 2020 - my gorgeous couple @holmes1510 & @bec.holmes_ were going to get married in front of family & close friends on 12.10.20. But with border closures etc, they decided to postpone their wedding until same date, next year so all of their interstate guests could be there. However, they are expecting their first child in November & so they decided to just have a 'registry office' style wedding on their original wedding date (so by the tim...e their bubba arrives, they would all have the same surname) & then next year, we will have a vow renewal / party ceremony. Awesome idea! So on 12.10.20 (exactly 8 years after they started dating), they said 'I do' with just 2 witnesses at the gorgeous Cascade Gardens park in Broadbeach. We were all so chilled & relaxed, it was just perfect! I suggested that they have @justrebeccaphotography come along so they could have a wedding & maternity shoot all at the same time and WOW....just swipe through to see the stunning results! 19.01.2022 So a mid-week elopement at your parents' house may not sound like your cup of tea...but hear me out, IT WAS SENSATIONAL! An absolute hoot. Michael & Naomi are such a fun couple (I mean they walked up the aisle to the song 'Everything is Awesome' from the Lego Movie), so you can guarantee it was fun from start to finish. Michael's parents Allan & Colette were such great hosts though my first question to Colette when she opened the door to me on my arrival was, "Hi I'm Sue the ...Celebrant - did your son tell you he was getting married at your place today?" . Fortunately he did give them a little bit of notice & we had the perfect arbour in the backyard with VIP seating for our 4 guests. The highlight of the ceremony was when our canine Lord of the Ring Batesy, successfully delivered the rings on cue (who said don't work with animals & kids?). We cracked open the French bubbles, had a toast to the newlyweds & I exited just as lunch was served. The bloody best, most relaxed fun ceremony (& couple) ever. Thanks for letting me share in it Michael & Naomi - apparently there is going to be a vow renewal ceremony (with a 'Pimps & Ho's theme ) in 2021 and I've already threatened to kidnap Batesy & hold him hostage if I'm not included in that crazy party / ceremony.... because that is bound to be nothing but a whole lot of crazy! 19.01.2022 The many faces of getting married (but if I'm your celebrant, there will always be miles & miles of smiles). My flame haired stunner bride @hollyhattin married her gorgeous groom @joshuahattin at their beautiful home in Norwell & it was awesome. 17.01.2022 I am a rugby league girl from waaaaayyy back & am about to have a proud celebrant moment! I married rugby league player Jamal Fogarty to his beautiful wife Kahlia last year & seriously I was blown away with what a gorgeous couple they made. Just down-to-earth, humble people whose lives revolve around their beautiful daughters. Good old Jamal is kicking butt this year in the NRL, and has even captained the GC Titans in the last few weeks...& each week they have been getting better & better (& winning!). Seriously this could not have happened to a more-deserving bloke . So happy for you Jamal & your beautiful family...and what a privilege it was to have been your celebrant! 17.01.2022 I still have 2 weddings before the end of 2020, so I will hold off on my 'ode to the year that was' after my final ceremony on the 28th December. In the meantime, I want to wish all of my page followers a very merry Xmas because tomorrow I will probably forget! I have a wedding at 1pm & then I will come home to peel a gazillion prawns & make a couple salads for the feast on the 25th! I will be lucky enough to be spending Xmas Day with my family (the photo is of my sister Denise, mum and I...but I see this shot is now 10 years old, so time for an update on Xmas Day so we can see how much older we look, ). 14.01.2022 When you can't wait to marry the love of your life, JUST ELOPE! @leandrolombardi_ & @anthealombardi_ met in 2014 at university & instantly found a new friend in each other. This was because they shared similar interests & had the same values, morals, goals & outlooks on life. However, in 2016 the timing was finally right for them to progress their relationship when Leandro & Anthea both realised that the love of their life was right before their eyes all along. From that... 'lightning bolt' moment their connection was forever changed & they fell into the most natural, beautiful relationship that saw them move in together within 6 months & then become 'partners-in-mortgage' in June 2018. Leandro proposed to Anthea on 29.02.20 & they had grand plans to get married in Santorini, mainly because Anthea's family are in the UK. However COVID has other plans & their hopes were dashed...& who knows when an overseas wedding is going to be possible? So on 1st October, Anthea got in touch with me to ask about my "Let's Elope' package & it was perfect for them. I met with Leandro & Anthea on 04.10.20 & on 05.11.20, they pledged their lives to each other with just 3 guests witnessing (& a whole swag watching via livestream). It was honestly the MOST beautiful celebration of love for the most beautiful couple who really are just as gorgeous on the inside as they are on the outside. The secret elopement has only been revealed this week to the world so I can finally share these stunning photos - just amazing. 13.01.2022 This day last year, I was a busy woman! I spent the morning up at Beechmont marrying Cherie & Shane in an intimate, private elopement at their home & then I jumped in my car, had a quick change and found myself at North Burleigh marrying Jasmin and Cam. Even though these two weddings were polar opposites (mountains vs beach, elopement with 2 guests vs wedding with over 50 guests) they were just the most beautiful ceremonies with all the feels because both couples were just... the best. So to Cherie & Shane and Jasmine & Cam, happy FIRST anniversary today. P.S. I almost forgot my 'Happy 2nd anniversary' shout-out to Lianne & Gethin who tied the knot on 21.09.18 at the Sheraton Mirage, Main Beach...and it appears I like to wear the same dress on 21st September no matter what year it is (though in saying that, it stayed firmly in my cupboard today!)

08.01.2022 I just had to 'borrow' a bouquet & pretend I was a bridesmaid for @kaze013 & Andrew's wedding because they are just the best...but alas, I was just the lowly celebrant . Seriously though, I met @kaze013 & Andrew almost 12 months ago & we just clicked straight away. These two live on the Darling Downs & love a day at the races, so their wedding @gcturfclub was planned for May 2020...& we were excited. Unfortunately, because of the c-word, we had to postpone, but yesterday on ...the first Saturday in Spring, we got these 2 hitched in front of 60 of their nearest & dearest (stupid border closures meant that they missed their NSW,, VIC & TAS friends which sucked but these two weren't waiting to enter marital bliss any longer). It was honestly the best vibe ever! You know when you deliver a ceremony & you see people wiping away tears & laughing loud at the same time, you've hit the mark with the right balance of emotion & fun. Can I just also mention how good @gcturfclub is for a wedding venue? Minimal venue charge, great private room with your own tote & bar, reasonably priced F&B packages, fantastic venue manager & so many staff...if you & your mates love a day at the races give this a look...it was a total hoot. 04.01.2022 Two years ago today, I was a part of a very special commitment ceremony for a very special couple. Gorgeous Palm contacted me to ask if I could conduct a bed side Commitment Ceremony for her & her fiance Dane as her beloved step-dad Bobby was very unwell in Pindara Hospital. So we made some fast plans & around 8 days later, on 15.09.18, we surprised Bobby by 'hijacking' his hospital room with cake, flowers & a very happy (and well scrubbed up) couple who declared their live...s to each other with their close family (& nurses) watching on. Wow, it was such an emotional morning but the smiles & love outweighed the tears by 100:1. I then had the total pleasure of marrying Dane & Palm at Elephant Rock, Currumbin just over 12 months later. While we had some laughs and lots of fun on their wedding day, we could all feel that Bobby was there with us for their 'second' ceremony (that finally made the deal real for them, LOL). Palm & Dane (& their beautiful 18-month old daughter Summer who was born at just 25 weeks but overcame all odds to lead the procession down the aisle on their wedding day) have made a lasting impression on me just because they are simply the most fabulous people, friends, couple & parents that you could ever meet. They are definitely a match made in heaven and I will be forever grateful for the day Palm contacted me because it was quite simply a complete & utter privilege to be involved in both of their ceremonies. So cheers to you Mr & Mrs Spooner, I love you guts!

01.01.2022 Kerrod and Courtney - what a wild ride we had. I met this couple back in October 2019 when their wedding plans were set in stone! This Sydney based couple were due to have a wedding on 08.08.20 at the Glades Golf Club with around 80 guests, bridal party - the works! But then COVID came along & everything changed including: * cancellation of wedding venue * guest numbers decreasing * no more bridal party * ceremony moved to over the border due to NSW restricted entry into ...QLD - but really looking forward to standing on the beautiful Hastings Point Headland to marry these two * hair and makeup artist cancelled a week out (but we found a new one thanks to @goddess_makeupdesign) Then on 05.08.20, QLD Premier announced that as at 1am on Saturday 08.08.20, anyone coming over the border from NSW would have to go into mandatory 2-week PAID hotel quarantine, which would not allow their QLD guests to attend the wedding! WTF? So we moved the wedding forward 24 hours (thank goodness all the suppliers were free) so our QLD guests would not have to quarantine post-ceremony. Just when you thought nothing else could go wrong, we were all set to go on 07.08.20 but when the weather looked dead dodgy, we had to move to Plan B which was @6114_peppers_salt_resort. Seriously, the universe could not cut these 2 a break but despite all of that, we got Kerrod & Courtney hitched & it was the best day ever....it was like we all ran a marathon by the time the ceremony was due to start. By the end of the day yesterday, Courtney & I could not talk to each other without crying because I was on their wedding journey too which was full of highs and lows...but WE DID IT! I am happy exhausted today but my heart is full - these two beautiful souls will always have a place in my heart for not giving up on love & remembering that even though their dream wedding day did not happen, they got married anyway and that was THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! Nicole called me 2 days before her wedding to say that COVID had ruined their big wedding plans...but could I help them elope on that day in a scaled back version of what was meant to be? Of course, I said, 'No worries'! So their original celebrant sent me their marriage paperwork, I drafted up a ceremony & then two days later, I met Nicole & Jamie (my B&G) for the very first time on their wedding day. Honestly, we had a blast! It was just them, their dog Luna an...d 3 guests, but it didn't matter...the day was perfect, the couple were just so gorgeous & we popped the champers to toast them afterwards! Winning....what more could you want? Lovely Nicole recently wrote me the nicest review on FB: "Sue came to the rescue after our wedding was postponed due to covid and our guests and celebrant were unable to fly in from interstate. With only two days notice and without even meeting Sue, I could tell she was the perfect fit to marry us and she absolutely pulled it off. 01.01.2022 SHOUTOUT TO MY JUNE NEWLYWEDS: It's the halfway mark for 2020 &, well, it seems that all the Corona stuff is not going away! But despite the uncertainity, I still was lucky enough to meet 6 pairs of wedding warriors who thought 'stuff it, we are getting married with or without a pandemic'...and so marry them I did! Yes, even with social distancing & guest number restrictions, my fabulous June couples took it all in their stride and had the most perfect wedding day ever - ...without a care or an ounce of stress! I mean, just check out their photos & see the love! 01.01.2022 REVIEW ALERT: It seems like months, but it was less than 3 weeks ago when I had the absolute pleasure of marrying Courtney and Kerrod..this couple were the best troopers. Basically, they had to constantly change their wedding plans in order to comply with the ever-changing landscape that is COVID-19. It began with downsizing their guest numbers, then changing venues (and states) and even changing their wedding date in order to ensure that their wedding day could even happen ...at all...it was pretty much a saga BUT WE GOT THERE BECAUSE THEY WERE DETERMINED TO GET MARRIED COME HELL OR HIGHWATER. Honestly I was quite emotional by the end because Courtney & Kerrod really had to jump through so many hoops to just say 'I Do' - and I felt like I was on the roller coaster with them & tried my best to keep them positive by just rolling with the changes as they had to happen. So you can imagine that I was absolutely chuffed to receive such a beautiful FB review from Courtney: "Sue has been an absolute legend through everything! She has been nothing short of amazing. We started the year off organised, excited and ready for our 8.8.20 wedding but then Covid-19 happened and it all sort of went down hill from there. We had made the decision to continue with our wedding regardless, even if numbers were smaller due to restrictions and Sue was nothing but supportive. As the months progressed things started looking up for a slightly more 'normal' wedding and then all of sudden cases started rising and then borders were being shut and it all was looking really crap for our day. But Sue, she was there for us with solutions and ideas, suggestions, laughter and a big smile. We ended up getting married but on the 7.8.20 instead and it was amazing and beautiful and so memorable and I can honestly say not all possible if she didn't help as much as she did. Sue never once threw in the towel, she was happy to help and went above and beyond to be there for us. Sue is passionate about her job and it shines through in every way. She has an enthusiasm and love for her job that I just adored and it came across straight away in our first conversation. There is no one I would ever recommend then her to be your celebrant.
