23.01.2022 While it is great news that Australia voted YES to same-sex marriage, we need to be patient, as there are still many steps that need to be taken before this all becomes legal. The Bill has to go before Parliament, be passed and then gazetted before it becomes law. It is difficult to gauge how long this will take, particularly at this time of year. As soon as the law is in force, celebrants can begin to take bookings and complete the necessary paperwork.... I am looking forward to officiating at my first same-sex wedding.

22.01.2022 What have I been thinking about lately? Choices. I think we are extremely lucky in many ways because we have so many choices in our lives. We have many choices about how we relax, what we eat and where we eat, Women can make choices about childbirth that they were never able to make 30 years ago. We can choose to live with our partner without judgment, or to get married. Now we can choose to marry the... person we love even if they are the same sex as us. My favourite part of organising a wedding ceremony is helping my couple to make the best choices for them. No longer are they bound by family and community expectations of what their ceremony should look like. The ceremony can be long, short, outdoors, indoors or both! Couples can express their love by writing their own vows sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always from the heart. My inspiration comes from that look on a grooms face when he first spots his bride, or the happiness on the faces of two women or two men who can now finally marry. Inspiration comes from the love in a couples eyes when they are sharing their vows and the absolute joy and excitement when I pronounce them to be a married couple. I am very lucky and proud to be a marriage celebrant.

20.01.2022 Today is a very sad day for me and many marriage and funersl celebrants in Australia. My wonderful friend and mentor, Keith Lammond passed away today. To say I am heartbroken is an understatement. Keith taught me everything I know. He was the Guru of everything. My association with Keith goes back to my days working at BDM. Like many others I am going to miss him terribly. Rest in peace my wonderful friend.

19.01.2022 Yesterday I conducted a funeral for a lovely lady at Pinegrove Crematorium at Minchinbury, I would to acknowledge the professionalism and assistance given to me by the staff of Gregory & Carr funerals. They were absolutely delightful to deal with. The arranger, Tim, was easy to contact and answered all my questions promptly so I could create the service the family wanted. I hope I am able to work with them again.

17.01.2022 Yesterday I had the honour of marrying two of my closest friends at the old Toronto railway station. The sun was shining, there were a few tears, lots of laughter, and most importantly lots of love.

17.01.2022 This beautiful venue is the Connections Garden located in the Australian Botanic Gardens at Mt Annan. Yesterday I conducted a wedding here and it was just lovely. We even had an uninvited guest watching from the other side of the lagoon. A red bellied black snake was having a sun bake on a log. Good thing he stayed put and didnt decide to come any closer or the wedding would have been without a celebrant. I hate snakes!

16.01.2022 Wow! I can't believe it's been so long since I have posted on here. I have some lovely photos to share from some weddings I conducted at the end of 2019. The first photo was taken at the beautiful Mount Annan Botanical Gardens. The second was at Sandon Point at Bulli. The third photo was a surprise wedding for the guests who thought they were attending an engagement party. My disguise - the bride's long lost Aunty Sharon!... Hope you enjoy them.

11.01.2022 I had a great day at the Our Weddings Illawarra Bridal Fair at Wollongong University today. I met some great couples and their families. This exhibition is well run and great fun. I am looking forward to the next one at the Novotel Brighton on Sunday 13 August. Here are some pics from today.

I think this sums up marriage perfectly, and I am so excited that now everyone is able to be married to the person they love if thats what they both want. I believe a marriage ceremony is a personal gift that two people give to each other, and I make sure it is wonderful and unique and something couples remember forever. I really like getting to know the couple, and sometimes their family and friends who I meet along the way. 05.01.2022 I had a great day at the Illawarra Bridal Fair on Sunday. I met some lovely couples and families. This is my little presentation table. Its not very elaborate but for me, talking to couples is the aim of the day. The only thing missing on the day was the coffee van!

04.01.2022 I have just received a copy of the Same Love Wedding Guide 2018 in which I have an advertisement. The ad I agreed to in early December 2017 contained generic information about the types of services I perform plus my contact details. The ad appearing in the publication uses text lifted from my website (without my knowledge) before the changes were made to the Marriage Act, and contains information about brides and grooms which is hardly appropriate for such a publication. I a...m currently in the process of updating my website. To say I am disappointed is an understatement, The ad doesnt embrace the wonderful changes made so that everyone can choose to marry the person they love, and it certainly doesnt reflect who I am and what I offer. I would like to apologise to the LGBTQI community for this ad.

04.01.2022 Beware of thieves at weddings! Last Friday I officiated at a wedding at the beautiful Lauriston House at Dundas Valley. I had been fighting a dry cough and took some Fishermans Friends with me so I wouldnt cough through the ceremony. I placed them in the rotunda while I was setting up, when a black magpie (photo of suspect below) decided to steal my lollies! I told him to put them down immediately, but like most others, he totally ignored me and flew off with his stas...h! The guests were wondering who I was yelling at! Thankfully I managed to get through the ceremony without the dreaded cough appearing. I dont think the magpie would have appreciated his prize though. They were the strong mint variety!
