25.01.2022 Sometimes a simple act of kindness can mean the world for someone. While walking our mascot Miss Ava Dognar we stumbled across this simple gift at the park. Its funny the little things that we took for granted are like gold now. I hope this gift made someone smile #kindness #gift #toiletpaper

24.01.2022 Our Griffith University intern Kiara Blinco captured the story of Idwall Richards. In the year of 1932, the Richards family saw a service that needed to be filled. The waste industry in Australia was a seemingly small service that not many people wanted to interact with since it mostly had to be dealt with by hand. Joseph Joe Richards Snr successfully gained a contract to work in the Murwillumbah Municipality and J.J Richards & Sons was born. George Winterbon, the Mayor of Mu...rwillumbah at the time, became the guarantor that allowed the Richards family to obtain this three-year contract and have the money to begin working. In 1939, after some initial gruelling years, they were able to expand to the whole of Tweed Shire. https://www.celebratelivinghistory.com.au/the-origin-of-wa/

23.01.2022 Our Griffith University intern Kiara Blinco captured the story of her uncle Gary Blinco. She travels back in time to the year 1962, where at the age of 14 Gary would drop out of the eighth grade to start work full time. That was the norm in Millmerran at the time. Large families often required the help of their children to bring in extra money or help around the house. https://www.celebratelivinghistory.com.au/beyond-the-count/

19.01.2022 Our founder Bev has just launched Diaries of a Casual Worker. In life we face many difficulties. As a fresh graduate we often hear the phrase "Thank you for your time but at this stage you have been unsuccessful. It can be easy to wallow in your self pity. But the challenge is to pick yourself up and believe you can do anything and say Bugger this, I will make my own way. Diaries of a Casual Worker features the stories of Bev Wilkinson as she tackles the world of casual employment as a necessity to help fund her passion for writing and connecting generations. We all need to live but the challenge is to do what you love. These work diaries show that you can do mainstream work but still keep aiming high and make your creative passions a reality. 17.01.2022 Meet Clarissa Yates who is the former owner of Hooked in a box which is a business grown from the love of learning crochet from older generations. Q: Can you tell me a little bit about the older generation women who inspired you? A: I was always inspired by the nature of older generation’s use of time older generations such as my grandmother and mother did everything from scratch.... Q: What do you like most about having your own business? A: I love being my own boss and doing things creatively. I love not needing to be managed by people whom I have little respect for. I love not dealing with office politics. Q: Looking into the future what lessons would you like to pass on to your children? A: I would love to pass on to my children to always persevere, even if we are going through difficult times, family will always be there. To respect your elders, as the older generation has so much wisdom. To be kind, and always give back. To give without expecting anything in return. Being creative has always been something I always enjoyed and find it very therapeutic. I am fortunate I get to do something I love in my business and stay home with my girls. I am always looking to modernise the older generation crafts. Clarissa Yate is one of 51 entrepreneurs interviewed as part of Celebrate Living History's newest publication Entrepreneurs: Generations Apart. 16.01.2022 Such sweet memories! Flashback to the launch of the Celebrate Living History website in 2018.

16.01.2022 Our newest journalism intern Kiara Blinco from Griffith University captured the story of Judy Luxton a former Olympian who says she owes her childhood passion of swimming for all of her success today. Judy was raised in Brisbane and was never far from the water. Her father and grandfather owned a boat so there was no hesitation in learning to swim at a young age. While it was her family that encouraged her to swim, she said it was always a thrill. To read more click on the l...ink :) https://www.celebratelivinghistory.com.au/sport-motivates-/ See more

08.01.2022 Howdy Folks! Meet our newest intern Feng from Griffith University in Brisbane. We asked him our favorite questions! What attracts you about being an intern at Celebrate Living History? I am not a journalism student but Bev's program inspired me and makes me remember who we are today. Without seniors experience and what they have done for us. We cannot make this world better. Being an intern at Celebrate Living History you can read alot of different stories from seniors locally or internationally. And of course, the flexible hours that we can work on projects any time anywhere. #celebratelivinghistory #stories #interns #journalism #griffithuniversity #Brisbane

05.01.2022 Meet Bev Wilkinson, founder of Celebrate Living History. Q: Can you tell us a little about your business and what you do? A: Celebrate Living History is an organisation dedicated to connecting generations through stories. It is an idea that evolved from a simple desire to use my journalism degree. I found it quite difficult to find a job in an industry that I loved. So, I decided to create my own media organisation focussing on stories that often are not cherished in every...day media. Q: What motivated you to start your own business? A: I hated that my fate was in hands of employers that had the power to say Yes or No. I wanted to take fate in my own hands and create an organisation that I can be proud of and provide opportunities for journalism students to showcase their talents and be respected for their skills. You are intelligent and don’t be afraid to say what is on your mind. You are a beautiful girl with so much to offer. Go out and conquer the world because you bloody well can. Bev Wilkinson is one of 51 entrepreneurs interviewed as part of Celebrate Living History's newest publication Entrepreneurs: Generations Apart. The book can be purchased at https://www.amazon.com.au/Entrepreneurs-Gener//ref=sr_1_1
