25.01.2022 Our girl Winnies getting bigger! #winnieweimaraner #celsiusdesign #SMday

25.01.2022 This weeks TBT is one of my all time favourites - the 2009/10 Quality of Care Report for the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear hospital. A Quality of Care Report (now called a Quality Account) is a document that all public health services have to submit to government. It provides the Victorian community with an open and transparent account of each services performance and improvement of work. Not wanting it to feel like a daunting A4 document with lots of text, numbers and graphics, this report was pitched as a magazine style publication. Based on the size and style of The Ages Good Weekend and Melbourne Magazine (remember that one?), we wanted it to be a visual feast with something of interest on every page.

25.01.2022 Wednesday wisdom. Reminds me a bit of my Grandma but she was pretty much right about everything #celsiusdesign #designquote #designmelbourne #wednesdaywisdom

24.01.2022 The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner (VLSB+C) is the regulator of the legal profession in Victoria. They are responsible for regulating lawyers through the granting of licences as well as investigating and acting on enquiries and complaints from the public. Celsius undertook the set of annual reports for both the Board and the Commissioner in 2008. They were a beautiful set of documents, simple but classy. Hard to see in digital format but a gorgeous feature... on the covers was an overall clear foil of little squares. #lsbcvic #lsbc #VictorianLegalServicesBoardCommissioner #design #graphicdesign #graphicdesignmelbourne #annualreportdesign

24.01.2022 This weeks TBT is the suite of reports for St Vincents, 2006. Having been working with St Vincents since 1997 on their annual reports, its always hard to pin-point a favourite design. Each year I say this is the best year yet, but this one is an old fav. Actually theyre all favourites - who am I kidding. ... This suite of Annual Report, Research Report and Quality Care Report tell their stories in their own creative way but still singing from the same song book. #StVincents #design #graphicdesign #graphicdesignmelbourne

23.01.2022 Ronald McDonald House Monash is a place for families with seriously ill children in Monash Children's Hospital. It’s a supportive home-away-from-home that provides the patient’s whole family with a comfortable place to stay as well as peace of mind, knowing they are together and close to the hospital. We worked with client Kristine Ash to deliver a range of services for Ronald McDonald House Monash. In particular, we worked on annual reports, corporate brochures, bequest and... fundraising direct marketing campaigns. There are few clients or organisations that you work with that really connect with you emotionally - and RMCH was definitely one of them.

23.01.2022 We are dog people at Celsius. We love our canine friends - they calm us down, cheer us up, dont talk back, keep us warm and love us unconditionally. And so on this #nationaldogday were posting some of our teams pooches - past and present. ... National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, and to help bring awareness to the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, or pure breed rescues.

23.01.2022 Friday pooch post! For those of you that dont have a fur baby at home, do you find yourself stalking other peoples dogs? We do. Thankfully on this occasion it was for work so we got away with it.... With social distancing making it harder to interact with others (and their canine friends), we thought wed post a few pics to brighten your day. #celsiusdesign

22.01.2022 Doing work or watching something funny on youtube? I cant remember but I sure do miss my gals. #celsiusdesign #theoffice

22.01.2022 Celsius rebranded Coffey back in 2006. It is probably the biggest rebrand undertaken in our 20 years of operation. This was a quote from our client at the time: "Celsius seamlessly managed the development of strategy, brand architecture, naming conventions, tag lines, creative development and implementation of the project. Coffey was a complex set of individual, specialist companies and Celsius strategically and creatively worked to integrate them into a cohesive set of pare...nt brand and subsidiaries. Vicki and her team bring a rare passion and commitment to excellence. Their professionalism and commitment to brand shine through. It was an absolute delight to work with them." 21.01.2022 As it stands today, the Peter MacCallum Cancer research program encompasses 41 laboratories and over 650 laboratory scientists in the search for cancer cures. Given that its science week, they seemed an appropriate choice for this weeks throwback Thursday. We worked with Peter Mac in the early 2000s undertaking most of their communications and fundraising material.... Annual reports, research reports, wills and bequests, patient diaries, direct mail, giving envelopes, newsletters - the list goes on! Points for guessing who the featured baby is!

20.01.2022 At the beginning of 2003, the formation of the Department for Victorian Communities (DVC) brought together 15 separate units from eight departments. The new department was to reflect a community orientation - one where government planning and service delivery co-ordinated with local priorities, building stronger communities across Victoria. Our work for DVC was so diverse and included projects in local government, sport and recreation, youth affairs, employment, aboriginal affairs, government information, womens affairs, multicultural affairs and community education.

19.01.2022 Did you know how easy it is to make jam?!... 1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries (softened) 1 1/2 cups sugar Juice of 1 lemon... Stir, boil, simmer and Bam! Youve got yourself some Jam. If you have any other recipes that require absolutely zero baking skills, please comment.

19.01.2022 Looking back over the last 20 years, we at Celsius seem to have developed a penchant of working with companies in the renewables sector. In the mix is Hydro Tasmania, Momentum Energy, Entura Consulting and todays TBT - Pacific Hydro. These guys produce clean power from natural resources in Australia, Chile and Brazil. We worked with Pacific Hydro to evolve their brand, which leverage off their exisiting equity but offered a more modern and timeless design.... The refreshed brand was rolled out across their communication material across all markets. We love doing this kind of brand work - even more so when its contributing to a green future

18.01.2022 Its the simple things that we miss most. This illustration was part of a series for an education program developed with LaTrobe University. As we head into lockdown for a second time, its a bitter pill to swallow. ... Rather than peddle an inspirational quote about hope, tell you to look for silver linings or echo the 2020 all in this together catch phrase for the zillionth time, well just say... Be kind. Stay strong. September is waiting for us on the other side. #celsiusdesign #illustration #staystrong

17.01.2022 In 2010, when Epworth HealthCare turned 90, we knew there was reason to celebrate. Nine decades on from their humble beginnings of 25 beds and a staff of five, Epworth had built a reputation as a leading health care provider in Australia. To signify this momentous achievement, Celsius worked closely with Epworth to create a suite of beautiful collateral that eloquently told their story.... We begun by developing a 90 year anniversary brand mark that featured a stylish and traditional flourish and embellished simple typography in an asymmetric modern shape; signifying a proud history that has shaped the organisation. The suite of work developed to mark the occasion included the production of a 330 page history book, bookmarks, postcards, invitation to celebratory events, light box skins and environmental signage. Historical imagery was used throughout all collateral to pay tribute to the people and achievements of Epworth. Now, 10 years on as they celebrate their 100th birthday we say congratulations! #epworth100 #epworthhealthcare #design #graphicdesign #graphicdesignmelbourne

15.01.2022 Film Victorias aim is to increase screen activity in Victoria and be an advocate for the screen industry. Understanding this in such an uncertain time for their industry we thought wed shine a light on the work we have done for Film Victoria over the years. Annual Reports, corporate plans, a beautiful case bound book for Film Melbourne Now are a small part of the projects we undertook for Film Victoria. The Film Melbourne Now book showcased Melbourne and Victorias great l...ifestyle, competitive incentives, diverse locations, highly skilled and capable crew and world-class facilities for film, television and the new media production industry. Flicking through this book today makes me appreciate our wonderful city Melbourne and the State of Victoria and even though we are going through a tough time at the moment, we need to believe that happier times are ahead. Also today marks the opening of MIFF (Melbourne International Film Festival). They are their launching their new online digital showcase for 2020. Visit https://miff.com.au to access some great films.

15.01.2022 Why are some offences more serious than others? Back in 2010 the Sentencing Advisory Council was asked by the Attorney-General to review the appropriateness of maximum penalties for 250 of the most serious criminal offences in Victoria and whether these maximums reflect the communitys views on the seriousness of the crimes. The creative challenge for Celsius was to develop a campaign that had maximum impact, would stand out against the noisy background of print and appeal to a wide age demographic. We developed a bright and dynamic campaign that posed controversial questions aimed at provoking thought while encouraging the public to share their voice.

15.01.2022 ATEC Solutions provides project management, advisory and technical services to the commercial construction, infrastructure and renewable energy industries. Founder, Mark Bartoli engaged us to create an identity that was clean, modern, accessible and which highlighted renewables. The result was a cool corporate look that was rolled out across printed collateral and a responsive website.... #celsiusdesign #atecsolutions

14.01.2022 There are more people alive in Australia today because of organ donation. If you want to be a donor, make sure you register and tell your family; it only takes a minute at https://donatelife.gov.au/

14.01.2022 Today is technically a work day for me, but - like most of you out there Im sure - it has been dominated by small children with big ideas. Sometimes you just have to down tools and go play cops and robbers in the park (can you guess who the robber is?!) Shout out to all those out there making it work and supporting each other ... #workingfromhome #celsiusdesign

13.01.2022 Burnet Institute is an independent Australian organisation that links medical research with practical action to help solve devastating health problems. Their mission is to achieve better health for vulnerable communities both here and abroad. The Institute works to address prevalent health issues at the centre of which is Global infectious diseases - so you can imagine the kind of busy year they’ve had. In the midst of this, we worked with Burnet Institute on the design of their Annual Report. Here’s a look at the outcome.

13.01.2022 This week’s throwback follows on from our previous posts, all of which centre around one very important (and highly relevant) topic - Health. Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest metropolitan public health services. In 2011, we worked with them to create a Quality of Care report that not only delivered on government requirements but which spoke on a very human level to their key audience - the community. The report demonstrated their commitment to providing high quality healthcare in an easy to read, magazine-style publication which put people (both patients and staff) at the centre.

11.01.2022 Our throwback Thursday this week is dedicated to an amazing individual whom I have had a working relationship with for 20 years - Sophie Marcard. Both client and friend, Sophie has worked with me in her various roles at St Vincent’s Hospital, Monash University, Penington Institute and Interplast. There are some clients that come along and - even when you’re not working with them all the time - you have a connection and friendship with that goes beyond the work and which endu...res. When Sophie was at Monash Uni as part of the Development and Alumni Office, we worked with her to revamp the alumni magazine, which was then distributed to 215,000 alumni around the world both in hard copy and digital form. It was named Monash Life to reflect the quote from Sir John Monash: equip yourself for life, not solely for your own benefit but for the benefit of the whole community. This is one of those projects that I love - not just because of the design and beautiful photography (by another great colleague Mark Chew), but because it’s not always about the work but how we all work together to achieve great things.

11.01.2022 Outside it may be raining, but in here its entertaining! Happy Friday everyone - stay warm and stay well #fridaydrinks #celsiusdesign

10.01.2022 We at Celsius are partial to nice wine, especially at the end of a busy week. And seeing as its Friday we thought wed post an identity we created for our friends at Union Wine Store. Jeremy and Suz of the much-loved Seddon Wine Store, engaged us to develop a logo for their second store in Ascot Vale.... Now, we love brand projects of all shapes and sizes but we love them even more through ros coloured glasses So if you fancy a drop of something special, head over to @unionwinestore (still open for retail). We highly recommend the Mac Forbes Pinot! #celsiusdesign #branding #graphicdesign #unionwinestore #melbournebrand #localbusiness #wine #craftbeer @ Collingwood, Victoria, Australia

08.01.2022 Science is cool! A couple of years ago, we worked with @Entura.consulting to develop a microsite and animation for their Dispatchable Renewables campaign. It examines storage solutions for wind and solar power and how we can use these clean energy sources in a way that is sustainable, affordable and reliable. Click here to watch the animation http://www.dispatchablerenewables.entura.com/dispatchable_/

07.01.2022 ZERO baby! If there’s anything to cure your Monday blues, it’s this. After 100 days of watching the numbers, riding the waves and staring hopelessly at our four walls, we have hit ground zero.... Now we know a single day doesn’t mean much in the context of this wretched virus but you’ve got to celebrate the wins where you can. Here’s hoping this is the beginning of getting back to business, to Friday night drinks at the pub, to giving your mum a kiss (not yours, mine obviously), to live music, and to walking down the coffee-filled streets of our glorious city.

07.01.2022 Based in the US, Inclusive Development International (IDI) partner with grassroots organizations and local communities around the world to defend their land, natural resources and human rights against threats from harmful investment projects. We recently worked with IDI to develop a refreshed identity and new look for their Annual Reports. We played with type, scale and blocks of bold colour to produce an editorial style report that gave both impact and integrity to the conte...nt. It has been a fascinating project to work on and learn about. The cornerstone of IDIs approach is unravelling and exposing the investment and supply chains behind these projects, or as they say in Hollywood terms following the money. 06.01.2022 This week is Mens Health Week, so its appropriate we spruik the work we have undertaken for Foundation49 over the last 14+ years. Celsius first worked with Foundation49 under the banner of Cabrini Health and then with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Their goal is to help Australian men to live longer and healthier lives. We worked on the design for their newsletters, brochures, mens toolkit magazine and many other projects along the way. It was always fascinating (no...t to mention informative) receiving the newsletter content, finding out interesting male health facts, stories topped off with a great recipe. #foundation49 #mhw2020 #menshealthweek #yourhealthmatters #healthymale #menshealth #bakerheart #design #graphicdesign #graphicdesignmelbourne

06.01.2022 This week we take a look at a brand strategy and rebrand project Celsius undertook in 2011 for Green Energy Trading. Australia’s leading environmental certificate agent, Green Energy Trading is committed to making clean energy options more accessible to Australians. They operate with a nurtured organisational culture that promotes a fun, friendly and committed environment. Internally, the business strives for customer excellence and innovation by ‘playing by the book’ and off...ering honest, credible and knowledgeable advice. In conducting the brand strategy, we identified that Innovation and Growth were the absolute key values that stood out beyond where Green Energy Trading was positioned at that time. What highlighted these values was their ability to understand and predict future trends and developments and translate these into industry best practice models. With all the foundations of their business firmly in place, Celsius then worked with Green Energy Trading to evolve their brand, aligning it to the strong values that the business had firmly established. We created a new brandmark, reflecting the transparency and adaptability of their organisation and introduced a refreshed colour palette. The visual language was developed with imagery to express not only their genuine passion for environmental sustainability but also their supportive and caring attitude toward customer service.

06.01.2022 Moodboarding is a vital part of our process in the design studio - and a fun one at that. Its part of our research phase in response to a brief and the first step in visualising how elements might look and come together. In isolation, mood boards dont always seem logical (and need to be talked through with our team) but they allow us to explore different territories through type, layout, colour, shape, image and so on.... Here are some fun ones found in the archives from a previous identity project. #celsiusdesign #moodboards #graphicdesign #designprocess #designmelbourne @ Collingwood, Victoria, Australia

06.01.2022 Its always a joy to work on a design for something thats been created by an artist (or group of artists). And even more of a joy when (in our highly digitised world) it gets made into a physical product. Recently we worked with the very talented Adam Simmons to put together the album design for ZATOCZKA - a tribute to the music of Polish jazz musician and prolific film composer Krzysztof Komeda. Presented last year by @polishfilmfestivalaustralia, the album features the Ad...am Simmons Creative Music Ensemble. 05.01.2022 Revisiting some vibrant patterns and illustrations from a few summers ago - part of a project we did for Frankston City Councils Waterfront Festival. What we wouldnt give right now to eat hotdogs on the pier in the sun and listen to live music!

05.01.2022 As part of National Science Week, we thought wed post a brandmark we developed for Hydro Tasmanias education program. Generation Hydro features the wave device from the parent brand, softened by hand drawn elements of the natural environment. The program is aimed at students, teachers and parents offering loads of resources and events about how hydropower is generated and much more. Were also currently working on another sub-brand aimed at secondary level students - wa...tch this space! #scienceweek #hydrotasmania

05.01.2022 Meet Vicki. For most of you reading, this woman needs no introduction. Founder and director of Celsius, she knows a thing or two about business and design (and the business of design). Like all successful woman out there, Vicki wears many hats - designer, creative director, boss, entrepreneur, brand guru, hiking enthusiast and mother of two gorgeous kids.... From working on the tools in the late 90s she began to build lasting relationships with clients who shared the same values as she did. Fast forward 20 years and its easy to see (particularly if you follow our throwback posts) the rewards of such dedication. Despite all of her skill and savvy, theres nothing Vicki hates more than being the centre of attention and so (in the interest of self preservation), Ill stop writing and instead direct you to the link to read more about the Celsius team. https://celsiusdesign.com.au/celsius-design-team/

05.01.2022 Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is the first of its kinds in Australia. It brings together support services, case-by-case treatment and community initiatives all aimed at tackling the underlying causes of criminal behaviour and disadvantage, reducing crime and improving the wellbeing of the community. Our Celsius office is located just around the corner from NJC and we were fortunate to work on their branding when they opened back in 2007. The use of bright green and blac...k in the logo allow the sentiment of our neighbourhood to shine through. We used strong, traditional typography to provide a sense of credibility and trust required by such an organisation, while the visual language worked to show individuality and a sense of being in-touch with issues that can often be difficult and awkward to address. The collateral also utilized people and locations to assist in creating a sense of community. The colours are bold and easily recognised in all collateral including brochures, bikes, business cards, posters, t-shirts and postcards.

03.01.2022 Zoom shenanigans from lockdown 1.0

01.01.2022 Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) tackles the causes of crime and builds capacity to repair social harm. They have one overarching goal - to make the places we live, work, and raise families safe and resilient through compassionate, tailored and appropriate justice. Celsius worked with NJC to develop their original branding back in 2007 when the centre first opened. On their 10th anniversary we were once again entrusted to refresh the brand, providing a more contemporary ...feel and ensuring it reflected the centres values, vision and future aspirations. @NJCCollingwood #branding #celsiusdesign

01.01.2022 One of St Vincents Foundation fundraising events was the magical Opera in the Market. Celsius was asked to rebrand their 2011 campaign. The brief was to position the event to be more accessible to a broader audience while still encapsulating the drama and spectacle of opera at the Queen Victoria Market. The new brandmark was required to remain timeless yet flexible enough to adapt to a visual language that would evolve throughout the years.... Incorporating the beautiful illustration work of Sonia Kretchmar (@soniak) with a slightly humorous approach, Celsius created a unique visual language that supported the new Opera in the Market brand.
