23.01.2022 RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS: The Power to End Violence Against Women program was back on the road this week. The Power Community Ltd crew met students at Eynesbury Senior College to talk about respectful relationships. PTEVAW has engaged more than 6,600 male students since launching in 2016.The program is a joint initiative between Centacare, Power Community Ltd and Department for Education, South Australia.
22.01.2022 RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS: The Power to End Violence Against Women (PEVAW) program celebrated its 100th school visit last Wednesday and is today featured in The Advertiser. Students at Henley High School met Gavin Wanganeen and Brett Ebert as part of the program, which teaches Year 10 boys how to be positive bystanders and stand up to disrespect of women. PEVAW is delivered by Power Community Ltd in partnership with Centacare and the Department for Education, South Australia. With the support of Adelaide Airport, Centacare has also begun EMPOWERED. 11.01.2022 FOSTER CARE: More than half of the children waiting for a foster home in South Australia are aged five to nine,, as the shortage of foster carers for primary school aged children continues to grow. 04.01.2022 INNOVATION: Young women who have experienced removal of a child or children from their care will be supported in an innovative early intervention service announced this week. The Department of Human Services (DHS) has funded Breathing Space, which Centacare will pilot over two years with up to 15 women aged under 25 years. Part of the DHS Child and Family Service System redesign, the service aims to improve young womens quality of life, wellbeing and life skills, by addressing the complexities that may have contributed to their children entering the child protection system.
