24.01.2022 Last week we said farewell to Support Worker June after more than 30 years supporting clients in our Brisbane South region. Thank you June for your dedication, support, encouragement and hard work over many years. You will be greatly missed by your clients and colleagues!
24.01.2022 Trish attends our Jamboree Heights community centre and being from England, misses the cold weather at Christmas time. Although she's not the biggest fan of our heat this time of year, she looks forward to the peace and quiet that the holiday season can bring. Have a lovely Christmas Trish.
21.01.2022 Ben had a long term goal to organise his own holiday. He worked with his support team to plan his perfect Gold Coast vacation, setting out a budget, choosing his accommodation and planning the activities he wanted to do. The highlight of his trip was his visit to Sea World, where he met a seal. Well done Ben and thank you for allowing us to be part of your holiday!
17.01.2022 We love this story. ‘A Boy Named Bear’ by Kaz Dalton tells the story of Bear, her son who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. Bear attends Catholic Early EdCare St Augustine’s Long Day Care + Kindergarten. For Book Week, educators and children dressed up as Bear and learned about his story. This was a great opportunity for the children to understand that we are all different and that our differences should be celebrated.
12.01.2022 This month we celebrate 100 years of Stella Maris - the world's largest support service for seafarers. This year has been one of the toughest for seafarers. Read about the challenges and how Stella Maris and our Pastoral Ministries team have provided additional support in The Catholic Leader's latest feature: https://bit.ly/2HxU0xW
12.01.2022 This festive season, to round out what has been a very different year, we're asking our community what Christmas means to them. After dedicating the last 17 years to Centacare, Fr John Chalmers retired last week and we'd like to take this opportunity to share his reflection. Thank you for your significant contribution Fr John - we wish you all the very best in retirement.

08.01.2022 Today marks the last day of Sexual Violence Awareness Month. As a community, we don’t always provide young people with information about consent as part of sex education. Thanks to Burnett Today for helping us get vital information out to the people of South Burnett. Do you have the facts about consent? Find out here https://bit.ly/2HRsdsg
08.01.2022 With support from the team at Centacare Wilston, Anna operates her own thriving enterprise - baking dog biscuits, designing the packaging and selling them to the local community. As her business has grown, Anna now enlists the help of her friends at the centre. Stay tuned next year as Anna hopes to expand her venture to other parts of Brisbane! Thanks to Cafe KuTea for your support.
07.01.2022 The Community Services team at Stones Corner were delighted to recently host a BBQ for the clients from our Northgate Community Centre along with some residents from one of our local Supported Independent Living houses. The Northgate clients were also presented with a gift of three new chickens for the coop at the Centre, which is another opportunity for them to pursue their hobbies and learn new skills.
06.01.2022 How's this for a Christmas celebration! Clients and employees from our Northgate community centre donned their best festive fare for their very own Christmas street parade! The parade was a great way to bring the local community together, with many neighbours looking on and enjoying the show. Well done team and special thanks to Councillor Adam Allan for your support of the event.
