19.01.2022 It was so great to see the community come together this morning to say that #ViolenceIsNEVEROk on #WhiteRibbonDay 2020. Today was a day to raise awareness of th...e toll of family violence on our communities, to pay our respects to those who lost their lives to family violence this year in WA, and to work together to re-imagine a future that is safer for everyone. Good work today and keep those conversations about how to #changethestory of violence against women going, because in five short days we kick of the #16DaysOfActivism - get ready to go orange ! 15.01.2022 NADIOC this week has been busy for the Centacare staff. We attended breakfast at Streetworks and had an information table at Bundiyarra on what we do at Centacare. We had an art activity table i.e. for the kids to do rock painting, leaf painting, animal cut outs painting & colouring in sheets. The kids had lots of fun completing the art activities and enjoyed a lollipop after they finished their artwork. Parents also enjoyed time with their kids doing the art activities. The staff had a lot of yarns with individuals, families, community members and other agencies. Great cultural music played all day from local artists with good cultural food eaten, and it was a great event to be a part of.

08.01.2022 We asked students at Central Regional TAFE to use problem trees to identify the underlying causes of family violence. It's clear it all comes back to the root c...ause.... gendered drivers. The Change The Story Framework describes these as: 1. Condoning of violence against women 2.Men’s control of decision -making and limits to women ’s independence in public and private life 3.Rigid gender roles and stereotyped constructions of masculinity and femininity 4.Male peer relations that emphasise aggression and disrespect towards women We just love the tree showing the root cause!

07.01.2022 On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War. From the summer of 1918, the five divisions of the Australian Corps had been at the forefront of the allied advance to victory. Beginning with their stunning success at the battle of Hamel in July, they helped to turn the tide of the war at Amiens i...n August, followed by the capture of Mont St Quentin and Pèronne, and the breaching of German defences at the Hindenburg Line in September. By early October the exhausted Australians were withdrawn from battle. They had achieved a fighting reputation out of proportion to their numbers, but victory had come at a heavy cost. They suffered almost 48,000 casualties during 1918, including more than 12,000 dead. In the four years of the war more than 330,000 Australians had served overseas, and more than 60,000 of them had died. The social effects of these losses cast a long shadow over the postwar decades. #remembranceday #lestweforget #geraldton #cgg #midwestwa #centacaregeradlton

07.01.2022 Well done to everyone involved in the success of the 16 Days campaign.

05.01.2022 How do you raise a kind man? By raising a kind boy! Children learn about the world through the adults that surround them as they grow up. Role modelling equality and respect in the home can help our children develop healthy relationships as adults. By encouraging small steps to kindness we can create a ripple effect in future generations.
