23.01.2022 We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant from Lotterywest towards our information technology infrastructure in 2021! Last year was a challenging year for many, and it was a testament to the crucial role technology plays in our modern education system. This grant will go towards new online services, streamlined software and equipment needed to improve support for unemployed jobseekers, young people, CaLD and Indigenous clients. These improvements will introduce great innovation and diversification in our ongoing effort to support clients throughout their journey at Centacare. Thank you, Lotterywest, for bringing in a bright start to the new year.

18.01.2022 It's World Teachers' Day in Australia! Our teachers have ensured education continues across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families and communities. To celebrate this remarkable profession, our VET and SEE teachers joined AITSL's social movement by taking a photo wearing sunglasses. Thank you, teachers, for doing what you do best!

14.01.2022 Little Loki proud to be wearing Centacare's ABout Us Mob t-shirt ABout Us Mob is a small business that makes t-shirts with positive messages about Indigenous people and culture. The project was launched by our indigenous students from the Kadadjiny Bidi program and the ABout Us Mob is used as a way for the students to develop skills and study towards achieving a qualification. You can order yours as a celebration of this NAIDOC Week and be as cool as this little guy! DM us for more information.

12.01.2022 Our SEE students decided to celebrate the festive season early by giving back! After visiting the recycling plant, our students were motivated to become more environmentally conscious and started collecting any plastic and glass wastes on their way to class or when out for a stroll during the weekends. Through Containers for Change WA, they were able to collect some funds from recycling the bottles and containers they have collected over the past weeks. On top of doing the environment some good, our students have opted to donate the funds to a children's cancer charity. How are you giving back this Christmas?

11.01.2022 Meet Dom Pedro, our new therapy dog Did you know the mere presence of a dog can lower stress and anxiety levels and promote relaxation and cardiovascular health? What a great treat to have the adorable Dom Pedro and his owner, Brett Merrey, at The Hub Armadale today to visit our students and brighten their day! We look forward to seeing our fur friend again next Wednesday!

09.01.2022 In honour of NAIDOC Week, we held a number of activities across the sites last week to embrace and acknowledge our nation's history which begins with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Centacare students celebrated Indigenous culture through fun and informative activities, including learning about Noongar animal names and participated in creating Aboriginal paintings. We are also pleased to have a special guest, Jaynaya Winmar from Blakbone Sistahood joined us as we continue to celebrate and respect our original custodians of this land we called home.

05.01.2022 2021 is upon us! What are your goals for the new year? As we approach the end of 2020, many of us took it upon ourselves to make a list of goals to achieve in the new year as a time to make a fresh start. Resolutions can be simple and positive, such as practising gratitude and self-care or build on your professional life. Take some time for yourself this season to reflect on your current situation and think about what it is you want to achieve in the next few years. For those who are contemplating a career change, why not make a New Year resolution to commit to upskilling into a new role or kick start your journey to a rewarding career where you'd feel good about! 03.01.2022 Due to the shift to online learning, many vulnerable young students from the low-socioeconomic background were left with limited access to online education and resources. Some of our students from the Bridge at the Hub program are among the less fortunate to experience the digital divide. Thanks to the WA Government and Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia, three of our students were selected to receive newly refurbished phones to help them engage with the services, support and information that they need.
