15.01.2022 Message from NSW State Emergency Service! Dear Parents and Carers Christmas break is coming up fast and NSW SES is urging all Northern Rivers families to Get Ready and prepare for the possibility of unsettled weather in the coming months ahead.... The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that Australia is officially in a La Nina phase which means we will see an increase in the number of storms, a higher chance of cyclones, tropical low pressures systems and an increase in rainfall events that may lead to floods in the Northern Rivers area. While we can’t stop mother nature, we can prepare our homes and families in case a severe weather event impacts our area. Please follow these 5 simple steps that will help your family to Get Ready. How to Prepare for Disasters 1. Know your risk 2. Plan now for what you'll do 3. Get your home ready 4. Be aware 5. Look out for each other For more information visit NSW SES website www.ses.nsw.gov.au

07.01.2022 COVID-19 Update Volunteering at school Dear Parents and Carers... The Department of Education has updated their restrictions and are now allowing parent/carer volunteers required as educational support roles for activities essential to the delivery of the curriculum (such as reading groups). If you would like to go into your child/rens class to help with various groups or activities, please contact their teacher to let them know of your interest. Photo ID is required (license or passport). One parent/carer volunteer will be allowed in each classroom per session. Session times are up to 40 minutes. I hope this small step towards normality will help our community continue to grow amongst these unprecedented times. 06.01.2022 Principals’ Day is an opportunity for celebrating the work done by all principals in our great public schools across the state. This year we’ve seen the true capacity and calibre of our principals in stepping up to the enormous challenge of leadership through bush fires, floods, ongoing drought and COVID-19. The strength of principals in bringing together communities, being the central point of certainty, support and care, has deepened the broader community’s respect for the profession.
