25.01.2022 Tower sunsets bring back visions of the fiery, volcanic explosions that created the current landscape. Nowadays, the only red to be seen comes in Autumn, when the Leg of Mutton Lake is on display.

19.01.2022 Did you know the crater lakes play an important role in precipitation patterns. Topographic barriers such as mountains and hills force prevailing winds up and over their slopes. As air rises, it also cools. Cooler air is capable of holding less water vapor than warmer air. Part of the reason for our ever changing weather and on/off rainfall.

19.01.2022 If you look closely, the generations of different rocky landscapes have many stories to tell. Autumn is one of the best times to discover them on foot too

19.01.2022 Beautiful couple days coming up to explore around the Lakes. The tower might be closed inside but the Tower walk is accessible year round and has the highest view in town. If you've been waiting, t he next two days might be the best in offer for a while.

17.01.2022 This too shall pass. . Here's an autumn cheers to getting out, keeping active & making the most of your days. Because the good ones need to be treasured and the bad ones won't last forever.

17.01.2022 The silver linings trail book might only have a couple of good weeks left down at Leg of Mutton Lake (we think it's an awesome view from the tower all year round though). . Don't miss your chance for the rare combo of autumn leaves & sunshine that light up the lake. .... If you haven't wandered through the footsteps of Mount Gambiers original nursery, or found volcanic rocks to remind you of the special place you tread, consider this your reminder See more

15.01.2022 Red sunrise in one of the volcano craters below the tower. #lovewhereyoulive

15.01.2022 In case you didn't know, my name is Ben and I have the honour of being the Caretaker of Centenary Tower. At this time of year, my favourite place to be is exploring beneath the canopies in the old tree nursery at Leg of Mutton Lake. I love that we have this natural autumn beauty right on our doorstep I'm inviting AKWindow Photography Reflexion Health and Fitness to show us what they love #aroundthemount

12.01.2022 April sunsets in the Crater Lakes with all the feels

10.01.2022 Sunrise vibes from the top of the hill. #lovewhereyoulive #centenarytower

09.01.2022 Can you imagine stumbling across Leg of Mutton Lake in Autumn? . The cauldron of an old volcano was sheltered, had a small lake (then named Middle Lake because it sat between the blue lake and the valley lake) and was perfect for cattle. . In time, the Henty brothers of Portland set up the regions first nursery. Essentially the ancestors of our current pine plantations.... . The original caretakers of Boandik country have many more stories no doubt. There have been plenty since as well. If you look closely on a walk in to the ancient land, there are still countless relics that this was an old volcano. Basalt bombs litter the ground, reminding hikers of a time when peaceful walks weren't quite as easy to navigate. . When did you last explore the volcanoes on our doorstep? #aroundthemount #seesouthaustraliafromhome @ Leg of Mutton Lake
