25.01.2022 Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. A day of remembrance that acknowledges the saddest of losses endured by many families in our community. 24.01.2022 Light the Park Blue - 10 - 17 October 2020 'Mental Health Week - every person, every community' Next week is Mental Health Week, a national event that aims to improve community awareness and interest in mental health and wellbeing.... Over 3 million Australians live with anxiety and depression. With the added pressures of the Coronavirus pandemic, there has been a significant increase in these statistics. This year Centennial Park acknowledges Mental Health Week by lighting the Park blue. The perimeter of our 40 hectare grounds will become a visual spectacle in recognition of all those affected by mental illness and for those families who have lost a loved one to suicide, including those who are now memorialised within our Park and gardens. Centennial Park hopes to assist in raising awareness of mental health by encouraging open conversations about emotional and mental wellbeing within our community.
24.01.2022 Work is well underway with the development of our Cafe and Function Facility, which you can see is really beginning to take shape! Many environmental considerations were made when designing this facility. Amongst which a few include: - North facing windows to the function rooms, making the most of the natural light. ... - The Parks existing trees will provide important natural shade. - Utilisation of high level, locally made insulation. - Energy efficient lighting, which include sections of clear roofing to let the natural light into the building. We look forward to welcoming the community to this beautiful facility early in the new calendar year. Studio S2 Architects Chappell Builders

23.01.2022 Did you know that today is International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer? At Centennial Park we are always looking for ways to improve and initiate good environmental practices that will preserve the ozone layer and reduce our carbon footprint. Below are some of our initiatives: 1,800 trees and shrubs are planted each year and are provided through our membership with Trees for Life. We have installed over 90kW of solar panels. We have reduced the usage of ...gas by investing in a new Facultatieve Technologies cremator. Most of our lighting is now LED which has greatly reduced our power usage. We are now using battery operated hand tools, rather than petrol operated. We also continue to reduce our landfill by separating all waste into cardboard, concrete, iron, green waste, bronze plaques, glass and plastics. 16.01.2022 For many years Centennial Park has acknowledged Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, a day that serves to promote greater awareness, remembrance and support of the estimated 1 in 4 individuals and families whose lives are forever altered by the death of their children during pregnancy, at birth, and in infancy. Due to the ongoing restrictions of Covid-19, we are unable to host our regular community commemoration event this year. Centennial Park will instead be placing beautiful, colourful butterflies at each of the resting places within our Infant and Children’s areas. The butterflies will be placed before Thursday 15 October, the date on which Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is observed.
