25.01.2022 Today went smashingly well! It was so great to see all our potters again after such a long break, and amazing to have the space buzzing. Our tableware flew off the shelves! Only two plates left(check image for photographic evidence)! We have some more ready to put in the kiln, so they'll be restocked soon. If you missed picking up your work today, don't worry, we'll be opening every Saturday from 9-2. Plus I'll be in the shop Wednesdays 3-6 if that time works better for you.

24.01.2022 Ok, another glaze firing and another set of amazing creations from our students (you)! This week we couldn't decide which one we like the most, so it's a tie.. The salt pig is awesome because no one had made one yet, and this is a particularly fantastic design.. The bee hive, because we don't 'have' to make function ware, and well, it's so damn cute!

12.01.2022 A collaboration between Jen and our wheel teacher Peter, came out of the kiln today. Peter made the pots during his classes as demonstrations and Jen glazed. Jen painted wax patterns on the pots, then dipped them in the purple glaze. The glaze slides off the areas with wax. When it fires, the wax is burnt off in the kiln. Brown clay gets a little toasty around the edges of the glaze, called "flashing". Love the final look!

11.01.2022 Some more beautiful student work! This vase was created by one of our wonderful hand builders. It's a marbled blend of different clays. Once dried, it then had a green oxide rubbed into the crevasses and was then dipped into a clear gloss.

04.01.2022 There are two pieces that came out of the kiln today of note.. First are some small wheel thrown jugs. This Potter has a wonderful bellied style and this is the first time she has played with our new blue celadon glaze. Loving it! The next piece was made by a 7 year old. Sometimes the kids make something that is just so odd, that my brain just can't figure it out. This is one of those pieces.. but the more I look at it, the more it makes sense and the more it inspires me. Well done "unnamed child from a birthday party", you've made our day

03.01.2022 Guy - "Jen. What colour shall I glaze the cafe tableware?" Jen - "Back off! It's my time to shine..."
