23.01.2022 #COVID19 Update (22 March 2020) The ACT Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerryn Coleman, has announced 10 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the ACT’s total to 19 as at mi...dday today. The new cases include 7 males and 3 females, aged between 21 and 67 years. ACT Health is currently undertaking thorough contact tracing of all positive test results, but can confirm that eight (8) cases are linked to overseas travel, one (1) case is a known close contact of a previously confirmed case and one (1) case follows interstate travel from Queensland. Relevant flight details will be uploaded to the www.health.act.gov.au/novelcoronavirus website shortly and the community are encouraged to visit the site if they have recently undertaken air travel to Canberra. There have been 2395 negative COVID-19 tests in the ACT as at midday on Sunday 22 March. There are currently two (2) COVID-19 patients being cared for in hospital in Canberra. The remainder of the current cases are isolating at home with the support of ACT Health. ACT Health is continuing to take appropriate public health action in line with national guidelines.

22.01.2022 This is what power outages mean for a supermarket. The IGA in Batehaven had no choice but to throw out $50,000 worth of spoiled perishables after power outages ...due to bushfire. Everyone there has been working their guts out to help locals. They opened on New Year's Day, even after two of them lost homes to bushfire the day before. They're just one of many small businesses that's under threat due to the ongoing bushfires, and one that's still suffering the knock-on effects. Small businesses are urging everyone to keep buying local and support the recovery effort in any way they can during these difficult times. Hew Jackson

10.01.2022 Some of the firefighters have talked about seeing koalas falling out of trees like fireballs. Channel 5 News was invited to accompany some of Australia’s volu...nteer firefighters as they try to protect their communities. UPDATE: Since filming with James on his animal sanctuary we have learned that a water tanker planer crash landed on his land while fighting the wildfire. Three crew members died in the crash and James' home has been destroyed - the koalas he'd rescued from fires and was caring for have also died. His family had already been raising money to help Australia's wildlife recover, and are now hoping to raise money to help them rebuild their home.
