25.01.2022 Here is a Letter I have written to the Editor Of The Peninsula News Regarding Banding or Restrictions For Jetskis On Our Waterways. Dear Peter, My name is George Galea I live on the Peninsula and I am writing to you regarding your publication dated 4th March 2017 in the Peninsula News: Association Writes To The Premier About Jetskis.... I am part of a group of Mature aged PWC riders that live on the Central Coast we have called our group Central Coast Old Seals. We call our self’s Old Seals because we are old as the average age who rides with us are over 50 years old. As I do understand there is a problem with what we call Jetski Cowboys that have no respect for the Waterway Rules and Less Respect for Safety To Swimmers and other Boats on the water. Over the years of living on the Central Coast and being a PWC Licenses holder and being a part of The Old Seal’s we have come to the assistance on many occasion helping others such as Distressed Swimmers, Boats Broken Down, Retrieving Capsized Kayaks and taking Persons back to Shore and helping out many Tourist who find them self's stuck on Sand Banks in Rented Vessels. Our Group always respect the Authorities such as NSW Waterways Officer, NSW Water Police and Marine Rescue when ever we notice there is a Waterways or NSW Water Police we always approach and offer our PWC Licenses for a inspection and have always been welcomed and appreciated by both Waterways and Police. The majority of what we call Jetski Cowboys come from outside the Central Coast area and since the George River in Sydney’s South has had a crack down on Jetski Cowboys a large amount of Riders are taking over Ettalong Beach on weekends and Public Holiday we tend to stay clear of using our Jetskis on Public Holidays because of this reason. I feel it would be Unjust and Unfair that PWC Riders that live on the Central Coast that have respect for the Rules & Regulations and Authorities have to be punished by having unfair restriction. I feel extra Police not only on the water but on the Beaches like Ettalong High Tide Rocks Area and Waterways Patrols with the Possibility of CCTV and Speed Cameras would be a Fairer Solution to this growing problem. My contact details are below if you would like to discus all of the above. I hope this email reaches your kind consideration
