24.01.2022 Wonderful day at the Central Highlands Model Aero Club's field today, with a light breeze all afternoon. Thank you to Keisha for taking the photos today.

22.01.2022 UPDATE ON MAAQ FLYING FIELDS IN QLD As previously advised, the MAAQ has reached out to the Queensland Chief Health Officer to seek clarification around the operations of clubs under the current health directives. We have today had it confirmed that clubs may lawfully recommence flying from 2 May 2020. However, clubs must still ensure that they comply with all relevant health directives. It will be up to individual clubs to determine appropriate rules that they put in place ...to ensure that members do not breach the social distancing requirements that are still in place. Furthermore, a trip to the field to fly your model cannot turn into a "social gathering" - this would still be a breach of the health directives. We absolutely do not want one of our clubs to feature on the front page of the Courier Mail as a "Covid19 hotspot". Things that clubs may consider implementing to ensure ongoing compliance with the directives could include: 1. Limiting the number of members that can attend or developing a roster system. 2. Limiting the number of members who can be in the pilots box to a small number (say two or three depending on the area available). 3. Not offering training or buddy box flying during the period of the outbreak. 4. Limiting the number of members who can be in the pit area and appropriately spacing each model set up area - eg one pilot per bay. 5. Banning social interaction between members at the club - we can't have a member going from one bench to the next having a chat with everyone in attendance. 6. No attendance by visitors or members of the public. 7. No attendance unless the member is actually flying their model etc - this is not to be a "social" outing. 8. Keeping clubhouses and toilet facilities closed and not providing coffee/catering facilities. 9. Cancelling all club meetings and events whilst he COVID19 restrictions are in place. 10. Providing hand sanitiser or other facilities to maintain hygiene at the field. An email will go out to all clubs later today but I wanted to let members know of these developments as soon as possible. I would expect that club committees will circulate your club's specific approach to COVID19 prior to the weekend and the recommencement of flying operations. Regards Michael Hobson MAAQ President

21.01.2022 New lights all set up in the pit area. Thanks Michael Martin Robert Lee and Jeff for the efforts today

15.01.2022 After the other weekend, spent some time on the P40. New glow plug, and correct priming method worked the treat. Now for the field to be open....

13.01.2022 Great afternoon of flying on Saturday. Jeffrey our Club President had a bit of an incident when after a touch and go his left wheel axle broke off, the wheel with the axle attached then went rolling down the airstrip. Jeffrey kept his cool and burnt off some fuel before deciding to land in the long grass for what turned out to be a beautiful landing with full back elevator applied. I have also attached a couple of drone photos from the late afternoon and a couple of photos featuring Michael doing some touch and go's in his Super Air. Cheers Greg Weir

12.01.2022 Michael doing a few touch and go's in the perfect conditions

11.01.2022 I think the P40 is ready for the weekend, just a little more fine tuning, but running nicely.

07.01.2022 Weekend weather is ideal for flying. Who is up for a session on either Saturday or Sunday? Bob

04.01.2022 Great to be back at the field taking a few photos, what a beautiful clear day for flying, will upload a couple from the SLR when I get back home to Longreach. Sorry you couldn’t make it in today Ken Gersbach, Kung baked you a nice cake, but Jeffery stepped in and made sure it didn’t go to waste Cheers Greg Weir

02.01.2022 New sign installed (and stand re-painted) at the main front entrance as the old sign was illegible
