15.01.2022 For those who have not seen our beautiful sheep genetic collection center - let me give you a guided tour 1) First off we have one of our recovery pens - usually used when flushing ewes as a close monitoring pen to ensure a speedy anaesthetic recovery. 2) A wideshot showing the Export isolation shed, feed shed, veranda and the door to the domestic shed... 3) Treatment area: for ET programs 4) Domestic collection shed 5) Genetic storage facilities. One container stores domestic genetics the other stores export genetics with a general equipment storage in between the two. 6) Second treatment race 7) Domestic collection pen. 8) Domestic shed ram pen. She is sired by the mighty Johnos 83 and was used in our AI program this year as part of the Superborders Genetic Improvement Program. Her lambs are out of Johnos 17/269 so are a combo of the 2 highest performing Johnos families. 06.01.2022 NSW Ovine Brucellosis (OB) Accreditation Scheme for sheep Ovine Brucellosis (OB) is a bacterial disease confined to sheep, characterised by infertility in rams. Infected rams produce semen of lower quality, making them sub-fertile or sterile and the effect on flock fertility depends on the percentage of infected rams and flock breeding management. The effects of OB are often unrecognised, especially where marked fluctuations in fertility occur for other reasons. The Centre Veterinarian of Central West Genetics, Dr Gregory McCann, is approved by the Dept of Primary Industries to conduct the assessments required for the Ovine Brucellosis Accreditation Scheme, whether it’s an initial application or reaccreditation, he can advise and facilitate your application.

05.01.2022 Many thanks to Geoff and Robyn at Central West Genetics for their help in undertaking our maiden AI program as the new owners of Outback MPM. Also thanks to Tim... at Western Rivers Veterinary Group Warren and Nyngan for his support and guidance. Natural matings are well underway with our trait leading rams hard at work. They, along with the ewes, are enjoying some green feed for a change. Look forward to the 2020 drop lambs hitting the ground.
