15.01.2022 Tips for surviving isolation from the international space station

15.01.2022 Ive changed environments a couple of times this year, and have had to think about my background as I introduce myself, my time in the industry and experience in different cities. Ive updated my website, but thought Id share on here too. Heres my general fitness background. I started karate when I was 4 years old. I continued until I was about 10, getting my junior black belt around 1998. I picked karate up again when I was 15, trained a year or two and regraded as a senio...r black belt, first dan. This was Zen Do Kai. As a kid and teenager I played most sports; basketball, volleyball, indoor cricket, soccer, tennis, jazz ballet, softball.. but I stopped most things in favour of aerobics and gym in later high school. I grew up in a country town called Echuca. I started teaching Les Mills classes at the local YMCA in 2003. I started as a Personal Trainer in 2005. In 2007 I moved to Melbourne to complete a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University, majoring in Physiology and Sports Nutrition. During this time and after I finished uni, I worked as a Personal Trainer at Fitness First. I had a boxing coach for a couple of years, improving pad work. Mid 2012 I backpacked around Europe, volunteered in the Maldives, and moved to London. I was fitness manager at an LA Fitness in Piccadilly Circus for a while, but the money was impossible, so I changed industry and worked in sales/ marketing. I taught group fitness classes out of hours. I was sponsored, and lived in East London for four years. In 2015 I moved to Sydney. I managed the upgrade of the Health Club at Five Dock Leisure Centre. In 2017 I started at Vault Boxing, working as a boxing and lifting coach. I trained 3-5 hours a day, for 6 months to fight, but 2 weeks before my fight, threw my back out and couldn't compete. I now work freelance. I train myself in: Yoga, muay thai, calisthenics, lifting and running (5-21km). Ive been working in fitness for more than half of my life See more

15.01.2022 Just wanted to say a massive thank you to @to_yoke and @leanneraab for their recent three week yoga series These two have put together six flows to help you adjust to change, especially associated to the pandemic, taking you through flows to ground - stabilise - connect. Honestly the best thing. The flows are only half an hour, so if youre anxious or unsure, its not so long. You can find the flows on YouTube. If youre interested, just follow through their insta profiles or shoot me a DM and Ill send you a link x

05.01.2022 If youre running a lot in isolation, maybe consider a half marathon in November Guaranteed to be a big event this year!

04.01.2022 Congratulations to @blinkyoumissed @soozeeharrrveee and @maggiemkhung for running their first half marathon today! The SMH half was cancelled and instead of postponing, they ran it anyway. Big thanks to @humphinaus and Nikki for joining for the second half, and @rebken83 @mialiciousqin and David for coming down to support. So impressed with your efforts in the 14weeks of training, which showed on the day, beating your target time easily. Legends

02.01.2022 The fitter and stronger they get, the more exciting the goals get. One of the most rewarding things about being a coach is identifying challenges the crew will have to work for, but will hit Another round of goal setting done, let the training begin Strength crew @rebken83 ... @blinkyoumissed @soozeeharrrveee @humphinaus @lordlunnon @ash_88 See more

02.01.2022 The way we live is changing, and will continue to change rapidly. Being able to adapt to an evolving world is important, and is good for society. There are many positive outcomes that will be brought about by people taking time out at home. I feel optimistic we will get through this time, not necessarily unscarred, but ok. People will support one another and remember to be human. My aim is to stay calm, and move forward practically, offering support where I can, and accepting support where I need it. Thank you @humming_puppy and @_melissa_mai for the yoga class, your studio has always been powerful for grounding and clarity

01.01.2022 Client Introduction @soozeeharrrveee and @maggiemkhung have been training with me for two years. Initially, Suzy told me she wanted to run a full marathon, but currently maxed out at 3km. Maggie initially wanted to run 5km This week marks week 1 of their 15 week marathon training camp. April 11 in Canberra is the day, and they will be ready to go, aiming to sneak in under 5 hours. ... They both ran half marathons last year and are on track to be successful I’m super excited for #teamfervor and can’t wait to see how they go along the way Weeks 1-4: Stability and body preparation We will make sure all core stabilisers and supportive tissue are working well; supporting the major muscle groups and sending impact through appropriate paths. It is also the beginning of energy system training and leg conditioning #marathontraining #running #funrun #endurance #endurancetraining #conditioning #snc #prehab #injurypreventiontraining #stabilise #energysystemstraining #lactatethreshold #42km #squat #again #hipflexor #glutes
