21.01.2022 Good Evening Gentlemen, As advised last week, the game scheduled for Charlestown this coming weekend (31/5/2020) has been cancelled. The board of Charlestown Golf Club has made a decision to restrict play to members. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to arrange an alternate venue. Have a sleep in next Sunday! The following fixtures have been confirmed:... Shortland 7/6/2020 Toronto 21/6/2020 Crowne Plaza 12/7/2020 Note that until further advice COVID-19 restrictions apply, however, groups of 4 players are now allowed provided we adhere to social distancing. Individual K/O The committee has decided to play round 1 of the individual knockout at Shortland on 7/6/2020. The original fixtures calendar planned to play round 2 of this event at Shortland on 7/6/2020. Club Stroke Championships (Graded) Club Stroke Championships have been rescheduled to play Round 1 at Toronto on 21/6/2020, Round 2 at Crowne Plaza on 12/7/2020 and Round 3 at Merewether on 19/7/2020. Similar to last year, scores are based on a financial member’s best two cards over the three rounds Confirmation of intention to play and Cart Requirements Please confirm that you wish to play with Dennis Molloy on 0412688184. At the time of confirming your intention to play would those members needing a cart, please advise Dennis who will liaise with the relevant Golf Clubs in regard to our cart requirements. 21.01.2022 Good Afternoon Gentlemen, We had a good roll up for round 3 of the stroke club championships at Crowne Plaza last Sunday with 27 members making the trip to the Hunter Valley. Another sunny winter’s day and great conditions for golf. Andy Laing shot the lights out with fantastic round of 60 net to take out the individual honours. Great golf Andy. Well done!! Ray Carrall came in second with a net 60 closely followed by Noel Brock who scored 66. John Hudson came in 5th with a ne...t 70 followed by Chris Calwell on 73. A special mention to Pedro and Noel who both eagled the 11th hole. Well done!! 19.01.2022 Results from Muree Sunday 17 May 2020 Good Evening Gentlemen, 34 members made the trip to Muree last Sunday for what turned out to be a sunny Autumn day. The course and greens were in good order which was reflected on the scorecards.... Graeme Evans took out the day with a score of 38 points, followed by Jason Simons on 36 points. Ray Carrall came in 3rd on 35 points on a count back from Dennis Tilse and 5th place was taken by Andy Laing on 32 also on a count back from 3 other players. Well done!! Charlestown cancelled us out for 31 May 2020, however, the club will attempt to make alternate arrangements and you will be advised of the outcome in the near future. That’s a wrap for this week. 16.01.2022 Good Evening Gentlemen, Results from Wyong 25 Players made the journey to Wyong on Sunday 2 February 2020 and whilst the course was in excellent condition the humidity was a bit uncomfortable. However, the sticky conditions did not temper the golf and some good scorecards were handed in.... Welcome to new member Brad Eather who handed in his first card. Glen Hargreaves (Oog) and John Hudson won the 2 ball par event with a score of +10, followed by Darryl Williams and Macca on +7. Ron Burgoyne and Jason Simons came in 3rd on a countback with +6. Oog won the individual with a score of +6. Well Done!!! I'd also like to thank Gilly Carmichael from Centrals for the design of our new club logo. Hi Ray,... Please find attached results for Waratah on the 5/4/2020, 24 players & Toronto on the 26/4/2020, 32 players. Both Scott at Waratah & Darren at Toronto are both happy with our players adhering to the Covid 19 rules applied by both clubs & would have no hesitation in allowing us to play at the courses again. At Waratah, while being our first game under the new Covid 19 rules, resulted in a go roll up of 24 players & at Toronto with the new Covid 19 rules is place we had a great roll up of 32 players including one new player, Phil Gilligan & unfortunately one retirement being John Beveridge. It is good to see our members accepting the Covid 19 rules & enjoying their golf. Top 5 at Toronto were: 1. Ron Burgoyne: 42. 2. Andy Laing: 39. 3. Dennis Molloy: 37. c/b. 4. Noel Brock: 37. c/b. 5. 14.01.2022 Charlestown Results and 2 Ball K/O As usual we had a good turnout for a home game at Charlestown today with more than 30 players participating. Welcome to new members Heath Bennett, Brett O’Malley (Great shot to take out NTP on the 12th) and Ben O’Malley.... The course was in great condition and spring was in the air with a taste of the warmer weather. The greens were quick after the sun dried out the morning dew and the good conditions were reflected on the score cards although a particular member had problems controlling his push buggy. He was apparently seen in hot pursuit, retrieving the wayward buggy just before it careered into a dam. Special mention for Brad Eather who scored 47 points to take out the individual honours. Great golf Brad !! Brad combined with Shayne Frendo to win the 2 Ball competition with a score of 51 points. Eddie and Doc came in 2nd with 46 points on a count back from Ron Burgoyne and Don Gilson. It was a beautiful day around 25 degrees and the course was a sight to behold. The game was 2 Ball best ball and the winning pair was Heath Bennett (who may be receiving some bad news from our handicapper in the near future ) and Greg (Houso) Houston who combined well to post an excellent score of 49 points. Well done Heath and Houso! 2nd prize went to the tried and trusted combination of El Presidente Dennis Molloy and Vice El Presidente Allan Solman on 44 points. Troy Wallace and Steve Wilcher (The Buladelah Burglars) came in 3rd on a countback with 39 points whilst Troy took out the individual event with 39 points. Well done Troy. Great Golf !! We had a good roll up at Wyong for the qualifier of the Club Championship 2 ball Knock Out with over 20 players making the road trip.... Eddie and Doc won the day with a great score of 46 points, followed by Fang and Graeme Evans on 44. Graeme Bennett and Pedro came 3rd on 42 points. Eddie won the individual with a score of 40 from a 14 handicap which included an eagle on 3rd Hole. Well done ! 06.01.2022 Good Evening Gentlemen, The last month or so was a very nervous wait and a change to COVID 19 restrictions or rain could have derailed our plans for the annual golf weekend. However, we got away on Friday morning and I’d like to thank everyone who arrived on time and allowed the bus to depart at 5.20am. Great conditions for a game of golf. Allan Solman won the day with 72 net on a countback from Shane Frendo. Eddie Fulmer came in 3rd with 73 on a countback from Jason Evans (Rex). Pedro was 5th on 75 also on a countback. The day was closely contested and the moist greens at the start of the day tested the... putting ability of most participants.
