24.01.2022 OURIMBAH WAR MEMORIAL DESTRUCTION Member for The Entrance, David Mehan is calling on Transport for NSW to protect the historical war memorial site at Ourimbah r...ailway station. The Ourimbah memorial was built in the 1920’s and displays the names of Ourimbah locals who served during the First World War. The archway opens to a garden and remains an important part of the local heritage. Plans released by the NSW Liberal Government Transport for NSW for upgrades on Ourimbah railway station will lead to the destruction of the historic war memorial. The plans, located here, indicate that the eastern wing wall of the memorial archway will be removed to accommodate a wider pathway to lifts which will be installed on the existing footbridge. Member for The Entrance, David Mehan met with Transport for NSW staff at the invitation of the Ourimbah RSL Sub branch on 27 May 2020. Sub branch Secretary Barbara McNab lobbied staff on the day about the need for the memorial to be protected. While the Station upgrade and lifts are welcome, destruction of the war memorial is not. David Mehan stated. Local heritage protection is important for our local Ourimbah community, who have already resisted efforts by Transport for NSW to demolish the Stationmasters residence in 2016. said David Mehan. David Mehan states the new lifts and pathway can be accommodated without the need to remove part of the memorial.

18.01.2022 SYDNEY PAIR FINED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO FISH IN LAKE MACQUARIE Police have fined a man and woman from Sydney after they were stopped twice trying to fish ...in Lake Macquarie. Officers issued the 72-year-old man and 46-year-old woman with the $1,000 infringement notices yesterday. The pair had been spoken to by police at Dora Creek at 5.00 PM yesterday and warned that fishing was not a valid reason for travel to a regional area. 15 minutes later police spotted them at Rocky Point Road, Eraring, where they were handed the fines.

14.01.2022 PARROT FISH ARE IMPORTANT!! i feel sorry for the parrot fishes! Yes this fish can be eaten, but for us divers this is a big No No!!! There are important reasons... why we should not eat them and we should educate the fishermen to stop catching these beautiful fish! Please do spare them ... the ocean needs them to regenerate. Read below to be educated. They're lots of fish you can catch in the sea. They can sell and cook the other fish, but leave the parrot fish! Here is why: (c&p from the web) Parrotfish eat algae and dead coral*. They spend up to 90% of their day nibbling. In other words, they clean the reef. This is important because most of the reefs across the tropics are being smothered by algae because there are not enough parrotfish and other herbivores out there grazing. After all that eating, get this: They poop fine white sand lots of it! Each parrotfish produces up to 320 kilograms (700 pounds) of sand each year. Their numbers are so depleted, and algae levels are so high, that they cannot be fished sustainably right now anywhere in the Caribbean. These flamboyant, algae-eating, sand-pooping fish need to be left in the water. And when they are left to chomp away, they do a brilliant job. A massive new report concludes that reefs where parrotfish were abundant in the 1980s are the reefs that are healthy now. There is a reason for their existence so please let's not eat them ... To our Govt. Please educate our fishermen... Say no to catching parrot fish! Let's not buy parrot fish so they won't catch them anymore. Please share..

08.01.2022 No one will publish this post! This Dolphin was found on the beach yesterday. He died of hunger due to the seal of the water bottle that was hanging on his snout. When you go to the beach, throw your waste in the recycle bin (how hard is that) And not not on the beach

05.01.2022 Important information about non-essential travel - please share with friends and family. Coming to the Central Coast for a holiday is NOT an option under C...ovid-19 restrictions. This order is enforceable and should be taken seriously. Thank you to my colleagues Kate Washington MP and Jodi McKay MP for their leadership on this issue, to help keep regional communities safe.
04.01.2022 I had some one ask me if they could still go fishing. Police will enforce it and it means No Fishing This covers it I think https://www.smh.com.au//six-months-in-jail-11-000-fine-for
03.01.2022 I went for a ride on the bike this afternoon. Point clare to the rip bridge and back. Takes nearly an hour. On the way I rode past WoyWoy ferry wharf. 5 people fishing. All good. all evenly spaced. at least 4 metres apart.... When I came back it was raining and the same 5 were sitting under the bus shelter. I noticed People eating Fish and chips from Fisherman's wharf at one of the sheltered tables near the Memorial park. I know one of the people live across the road and even though there are never more than two people there at any one time. Different people are there every half hour eating on the metal surfaced table. I bet none of them washed their hands afterwards or before. Lets be careful out there. .

01.01.2022 I have received advice from the office of the Hon David Elliott MP that the ban on recreational fishing has been overturned. Legal advice has just been issued c...onfirming that fishing has been classified as passive exercises and therefore as long as social distancing and public gathering rules are complied with it can continue. This is a win for commonsense and will no doubt make a lot of people very happy. The overall advice for people is to remain at home unless it is necessary but if you need to fish, you are now able to do so.
