09.01.2022 CCJRU Need your vote!! To get the best outcome for the Zone, we need as many as possible to express their opinion on the 2021 competition structure. So far we have only received 140 surveys responses from the 540 requests CCJRU sent out. Just because you did not receive an email, does not mean you can’t vote. As the CCJRU President, I personally believe a co-competition, in any form, is the best short term fix to reward older players who have stuck with rugby and have had to ...play the same 2 or 3 teams week in and out for the last 3 or 4 years. A strong competition will give them a more rewarding rugby experience. Additionally, I believe a lot of effort from everyone needs to be spent on retention and growth in our younger ages to ensure this is only a short term fix. The CCJRU is here to help and promote any clubs trying to do this. This is only my opinion, what we need is yours!! Please take 5 minutes to have your say in the Survey via the following link:

The purpose of the trial is to determine the benefit of educating the athletes in the U7 age group to Go to ground and set the ball long at the tackle contest. Clubs, Coaching Staff, Parents and Supporters are requested to provide feedback on trial, so that an informed response can be submitted to Rugby Australia’s law advisory committee. 06.01.2022 CCJRU Development Program SESSION 2 Update Dear Parents/Carers Hope you and our young champions are well and not struggling too much in this heat. ... Below is some information on the second session of the CCJRU Development Program for this Sunday, 6 December 2020. Please note that session 2 will be held at Paddy Clifton Oval, Show Ground Road, Gosford. Sign In/Sign Out Once again, we will have the registration tables set up with the players year of birth signs and will commence from 3.30pm. Sign out will be the same as the first session. Training will run from 4-6. What to Bring: * Mouth Guard - compulsory for contact work, please ensure each player brings one * Water bottle - please make it easily identifiable with either the child's name or something distinctive like coloured electrical tape Weather According to my trusty weather app, the forecast for next Sunday is fine with a high of 29 predicted. If anything changes or we get a rise in temperature, we will post an update on the CCJRU Facebook page. We will also try and keep the players in shade where possible and schedule extra drink breaks if needed. Kit The first order of 150 training shirts are expected to arrive this week. Provided they arrive in time and depending on the sizes received, we will hand out the shirts received on Sunday. In fairness, priority will be given to those players that registered and submitted sizes prior to the first order being submitted in early October. Either way, could you please have the players wear their club training shirt. Photographers Once again, we will have photographers taking photos during the afternoon. The photos will then be used on the social media platforms and other promotional events to showcase Rugby Union on the Central Coast. If you do not want your child photographed or used in any sort of promotions, could you please let us know before Sunday. COVID We need to make sure this event remains COVID compliant and we will have hand sanitiser bottles at the sign in area. We also ask that just 1 parent or carer be in attendance so we do not breach the 500 people limit and if anyone has cold or flu type symptoms, please do not attend. Future Sessions The dates for session 3 will be Sunday, 31 January 2021 with Sunday, 21 February 2021 the date for session 4. We realise these dates may clash with other scheduled events, like Oztag & Touch, but we have checked the calendars and there wasn't too many other options with ground hire and other sports & rep training commencing in March 2021. 06.01.2022 Registration is now open for the Central Coast Junior Rugby Union (CCJRU) Development Program. The Development Program will be 4 x 2 hour sessions , run on Sunday afternoons between 4pm to 6pm.There will be 2 sessions which will be prior to Christmas 2020 & the next 2 sessions will be in early 2021. It is planned the program will be completed by mid February 2021. Dates & location for the first 2 sessions are: * 8 November 2020 - Gosford Rugby Club, Gosford Showground... * 6 December 2020 - Gosford Rugby Club, Gosford Showground The aim of the Development Program, run by qualified coaches, will be to concentrate on the core skills required for Rugby Union. These skills will include: * Catch/Pass, kicking, attacking awareness * Tackle * Tackle contest * Fitness, health & wellness Please note that sessions commence at 4pm so we require all participants to be ready to commence at 4pm. Participants will need their own drink bottle and own equipment (mouth guard, head gear etc) for contact work. This event will be COVID compliant. Cost for the Development Program is $60.00. Each participant will receive a CCJRU training shirt and CCJRU rugby ball. Additional purchases can be made when enrolling, T shirts for $30.00 an Rugby Balls for $15.00. 04.01.2022 A big thanks to NSWRU for running a level 2 coaching course at The Bay Vikings rugby club this weekend. Especially to Owain Roberts who has to reschedule this course 3 times this year due to Covid. We would also like to thank Luke Mack, Max Malkin, Michael Burgess and Matt Evrard for helping deliver a very informative and interesting course. Thanks to the Bay for allowing us to use their facilities. With 5 coach educators on the Coast I hope we can run a lot more courses like this and improve our coaching standards right across all levels of rugby on the Coast. With better coaches comes a better rugby experience.
