Not only that, but they are a great Christmas gift idea, especially for kids who enjoy sensory toys. A basic pack is $48 and includes: ... 2 Egg shakers or small maracas 2 Castanets 1 Tambourine 2 Velcro bells 1 Woodblock Guirro 1 Kazoo Ukuleles can be added to the pack for an additional charge. We also have buddy/sibling packs available. **instrument colors may vary and come in a different color to what is pictured
25.01.2022 Nursery rhymes have been around for centuries. Not only are they fun to sing, but they are beneficial to a child's development. Here is a great article highlighting some of the reasons why. https://cognitive.com.sg/the-benefits-of-nursery-rhymes-fo/

24.01.2022 Working Week We were experimenting with new ways of composing music in sessions this week while using some of our unusual instruments Using a 20 sided dice, or a D20, we assigned notes on the melodica. ... After rolling 7 times we had our melodic theme. We then rolled an 8 sided dice, D8 to choose which notes we were going to make longer. Have a listen to the interesting composition we created! Why don't you get out some dice of your own and create your own set of rules to write a composition.
24.01.2022 Why choose music therapy? Therapeutic Characteristics of Music * Music stimulates and utilizes many parts of the brain... * Music captivates and maintains attention * Music is easily adapted to, and can be reflective of, a person's abilities * Music structures time in a way that we can understand ("that's the last verse - my exercise session is almost over!") * Music provides a meaningful, enjoyable context for repetition * Music and the silences within it provide nonverbal, immediate feedback. 11.01.2022 Research has shown that music therapy is a great way to help improve mental health and wellbeing. It can reduce anxiety and stress, regulate moods and energy levels, increase motivation, help manage anger and frustration, and help to manage challenging behaviours. With that in mind, we want to remind you to take a moment to breath, listen to some music, and try to de-stress.
09.01.2022 How cool is this calendar - Sarah’s face was superimposed into the main characters face for the month of May. How fitting she got the School of Rock background! Classic quote from the film Dewey Finn: Katie, what was that thing you were playing today, the big thing? Katie: Cello.... Dewey Finn: Ok. This is a bass guitar. And it’s the exact same thing but instead of playing it like this you tip it on the side... cello, you got a bass. #music #schoolofrock #musictherapy #musictherapist

05.01.2022 Here at Central Coast Music Therapy, we try our best to help our clients where possible. One of the issues our clients have had is accessing music therapy through their NDIS funding, or being turned down for funding because NDIS has told them that music therapy was not funded through the system. So, we thought we would share this link from the Australian Music Therapy Association on how to access music therapy through the NDIS, as it provides a few tips which may be helpful to our clients. https://www.austmta.org.au//national-disability-insurance-
05.01.2022 Did you know that music therapy can help individuals improve speech, communication, and social skills? With music, you do not need to use words to communicate. A mood or meaning can be conveyed by playing with another person or having someone listen to your music or music you are playing. 03.01.2022 This is quite an interesting study that examines the synchrony of body rhythms between children with ASD and their music therapist. https://www.sciencedirect.com///abs/pii/S0197455620300319
03.01.2022 Not only is music therapy a great way to address functional communication, social skills, and motor skills; but it is also a wonderful holistic away to address mental health. Children and adults can strengthen their resilience and ability to cope with life’s challenges by developing skills in emotional regulation, self-expression, emotional literacy, healthy relationships, and flexibility. These skills can help buffer against symptoms of anxiety and depression, which will help improve mental health and wellbeing. Check out this blog post from Positive Psychology for more information on how music therapy can be beneficial for an individual’s mental health. https://positivepsychology.com/music-therapy-clinical/
