23.01.2022 Water users and landholders along the Darling River are being advised to monitor river conditions with a potential increase in algae levels. The increased algae is due to increased rainfall in tributary areas and, as a result, there is a possibility that this could be flushed through the Barwon Darling system. The Darling River at Wilcannia is currently on GREEN alert. The only site currently on RED alert is the Barwon River at Mungindi with Brewarrina and the Darling River a...t Bourke on AMBER alert. Information on potential algal blooms can be obtained at the WaterNSW website https://www.waternsw.com.au/water-quality/algae#stay

General Manager Greg Hill said vandalism and antisocial behaviour is a problem that needs to be tackled by the whole community and is not something that should be left to police or Council to solve. Mr Hill said Council will advise residents when the pool will be reopened later in the week.

20.01.2022 Broken Hill Health Service has made immediate changes to their visitor schedule due to the Adelaide COVID-19 outbreak. **As of Friday, 20 November 2020 at 12.01am all adult patients in the Broken Hill Health Service will be restricted to one nominated visitor per day for one hour. Visitor hours will also be changed to 11am to 12noon OR 6pm to 7pm each day.**... The new visitor restrictions is in addition to visitor measures already in place at FWLHD health services to ensure patient and staff safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and situation in South Australia. They aim to further protect hospital patients, and those more vulnerable to the virus, as well as our staff and ultimately the community. These visitor restrictions will remain in force until further notice, as an added precaution to prevent an outbreak of COVID-19 in the health service. Please avoid all non-essential visits to the hospital. We want to minimise as much as we can, non-essential foot traffic through the health service. This will help in the event of an outbreak and contact tracing is required. Individual circumstances impacted by the new arrangements may be considered on a case by case basis through requests to health service management. Signs will be displayed about the new restrictions and information passed out at the entry Concierge service.

The Community Strategic Plan, and four localised delivery plans, will focus on the specific needs of the Shire as a whole, while recognising the different needs of each of our communities, Mr Stewart said. The development of a community plan is a requirement of government with its focus on the needs of the community and will guide service delivery. It is a very different document to the one which is being guided by the Office of Local Government, looking at the different governance options available for our Shire. Council is being assisted by a specialist facilitator, who will run workshops and put together various programs where all residents can have their say, including community members not comfortable speaking at a public meeting.

06.01.2022 Many sporting clubs contacted my offices about the Community Sport Recovery Package when it was announced earlier in the year. Unfortunately, some were deemed i...neligible due to their affiliation with another State. In Barwon, I understood why a sporting club would be affiliated with an interstate organisation; due to the location of many regional communities and the interstate travel required to participate in state based competitions. In July, I asked the Minister to review the eligibility guidelines to include all sporting clubs operating close to borders in regional NSW, who may be affiliated with another State, and had been operationally impacted by COVID 19. I have now been advised that applications have opened for the COVID-19 Cross Border Sport Fund, as a part of the NSW Government’s Community Sport Recovery Package, specifically targeting NSW border grassroots clubs and associations that have been impacted by COVID-19. The COVID-19 Cross Border Sport’s Fund will support NSW based clubs and associations that are affiliated with a state level sporting organisation or association recognised in another State/Territory, that were not eligible to receive funding under the Grassroots Sport Fund. Applications close December 15, for more information and how to apply please visit: https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au//covid-19-cross-border-sport-

01.01.2022 One week to go before nominations close for the Rotary Inspirational Women’s Awards. There is still time to nominate a woman for the Rotary Inspirational Women’s Award nominations close in three weeks 23 September 2020. You and your colleagues will all know women who are quietly working to support others by doing Service Above Self? You would also have been constantly coming into contact with women who should be recognised for their quiet contribution in making their com...munities better places to live. Over the last twelve (12) months we have seen women in our communities taking up the challenges that all have faced, drought, bushfires and now COVID -19. Think about these women that you know and nominate them, enabling them to be recognised for their contribution in support of their community. It would be wonderful if a woman or women from your LGA could be nominated for the award. We have an additional category this year to recognise those women who have been working in the health sector. The Awards are open to all women above the age of 18 years of age across NSW and members of the public are encouraged to submit online nominations at www.riwa.com.au We look forward to receiving your nominations don’t leave it too late!
