22.01.2022 Central North Police District have been collaborating with Western NSW Training Services and the Aboriginal Employment and Engagement Team to provide an opportunity for four students in 2021, who are in the process of obtaining the Higher School Certificate (Year 11 or 12) to undertake a school-based traineeship. This is the first school-based traineeship program to be offered by the NSW Police Force, these roles are supported by the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Education Grant for one trainee at each location; Bourke, Walgett, Brewarrina and Lightning Ridge Police Stations.

19.01.2022 Officer presented Commissioner’s Commendation for devotion to duty Bourke An officer attached to Central North Police District has been recognised for his dedication to duty at an awards ceremony in the state’s west today. Senior Constable Nicholas Leonard of Bourke Police Station was presented a Commissioner’s Commendation for Courage by NSW Police Force Commissioner, Michael Fuller APM, at Bourke today (Friday 6 November 2020).... Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott MP and Deputy Commissioner Malcolm Lanyon, were also on hand to congratulate the officer, who was recognised for outstanding courage and devotion to duty in response to a bushfire within the Warrumbungle National Park in January 2013. Senior Constable Leonard and a fellow Constable responded to the bushfire where they commenced evacuation of nearby residents in immediate threat. The officers proceeded to communicate with firefighters on the front line, as well as assisting an elderly couple from their home which was destroyed by fire a short time later. Senior Constable Leonard displayed professionalism and bravery during the incident.

07.01.2022 SUPERMARKET DELIVERY UTE ALLEGEDLY STOLEN; THREE TEENS CHARGED BOURKE Three teenagers have been charged over an alleged break and enter and vehicle theft in the north-western NSW town of Bourke yesterday. About 1.40pm (Wednesday 18 November 2020) three males allegedly used stolen keys to access a delivery vehicle, belonging to a supermarket in Oxley Street, Bourke.... The white Holden Rodeo was allegedly driven around Bourke by a 16-year-old, with two other boys, aged 15 and 13, also in the vehicle. Bourke police observed the vehicle coming out of bushland onto Weir Road. Police will allege the Holden Rodeo was driven towards two police vehicles, narrowly missing them. A pursuit was initiated but terminated a short time later due to safety concerns. About 2.40pm, police attended a house in Harris Street, Bourke, where all three teenagers were arrested and taken to Bourke Police Station. The 16-year-old was charged with; Aggravated enter dwelling with intent knowing people there Larceny Steal motor vehicle Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner Police pursuit not stop drive dangerously Never licensed person drive vehicle on road first offence He was also charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, which police will allege relates to a break and enter at Bourke Post Office last Thursday (12 November 2020). The two younger boys were charged with; Aggravated enter dwelling with intent knowing people there Larceny Steal motor vehicle Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner All three were refused bail by police and will appear before Bourke Children’s Court today (Thursday 19 November 2020).



07.01.2022 On Wednesday 28th October, at Bourke High School, the youth that had over 90% attendance for school and Fit For Life (program) received their awards. "Just thou...ght you'd like to see what we achieved with the youth out here this year, with the help of the Central North Police District and Clontarf Foundation in Bourke. It was a very rewarding day for us as Police (NSW Police Force) to see these kids recieve the awards as some kids achieved 90% attendance despite Covid19 restictions." 04.01.2022 ARREST & CHARGE OF 16 YEAR OLD BOURKE MALE About 00:40hrs on Wednesday, 11/11/2020, one young male person and five other young males with their faces covered entered the enclosed car park of a licensed premises on Anson Street, Bourke. They stole a vehicle, drove it dangerously and erratically through the township of Bourke before destroying it by fire within Bourke. About 14:40hrs on 12/11/2020, the third of six young offenders was arrested on Parkdale Street, Bourke. He ...has been charged with: - Enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence - Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence - Take & drive conveyance without consent of owner - Never licensed person drive vehicle on road - Breach Bail He faced Bourke Local Court on 13/11/2020 where bail was refused. 04.01.2022 Appeal for information after woman dies swimming at weir Central West Police are appealing for the public’s assistance after a woman died while swimming at a weir in the state’s central west. Just after 5pm yesterday (Thursday 19 November 2020), emergency services were called to the Condobolin Weir, Condobolin, following reports a woman had been pulled unconscious from the water.... NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR at the scene, however, the woman could not be revived. Officers attached to the Central West Police District attended and commenced an investigation. The woman is yet to be formally identified; however, is believed to be aged in her 30s. Following inquiries, police wish to speak with two children who they believe were in the area around the time of the incident; police believe the children can help investigators as they may have seen the woman and her male friend prior to the woman swimming in the weir. 03.01.2022 MAN CHARGED WITH ALLEGED THEFT OF MOBILE PHONES - BOURKE A man has been charged with the theft of mobile phones from a business in the state’s west. About 3pm on Tuesday 3 November 2020, officers attached to Central North Police District received reports a man, aged 38, had stolen two mobile phones from a business on Oxley Street, Bourke.... Police will further allege that on Wednesday 4 November 2020, the man attended a supermarket on Warraweena Street before exiting the store without attempting to pay for an item. Following inquiries, police attended a supermarket on Warraweena Street where they arrested the 38-year-old man, shortly after 12am yesterday (Thursday 19 November 2020). He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with two counts of larceny. He was bail refused to appear before Bourke Local Court today (Friday 20 November 2020).
