25.01.2022 Post gym stretch and melt Such a beautiful way to lengthen those muscles that got a great workout at the gym with a little strength thrown in for fun. What’s your post-gym wind down?

25.01.2022 I’ve been a bit quiet on the socials of late because I’ve been busy getting a new business off the ground. This new baby has been taking up most of my spare time so I haven’t been able to film and post as much as I would have liked. Things will settle soon and I’ll be back with more videos and posts! See you soon #pilateslovers. #Repost @corporatewellnesssydney ... Founder Story: Meet Dorothea one part of the CPS Corporate Wellness team on how the business was born and the biggest mindfulness shifts we will see in 2021! What drove you to start your business? CPS Corporate came about from Michele and I teaching Pilates for a number of years and seeing in our clients the different ways that stress showed up physically in their bodies. Most of the injuries we were working on were work related such as neck, shoulder and back pain. We decided that we wanted to go straight into the workplace to try to educate people on how best to look after themselves through nutrition, exercise and stress management. What do you see as the biggest mindfulness shift in 2021? I think particularly with Covid there is a much bigger emphasis on health and wellbeing and getting that work/life balance right. With people having the ability to work from home that has allowed for more time for exercise.....whereas before they were commuting to work, many now have an extra hour or two a day! The biggest challenge I think now will be how to learn to separate home from work, because when working from home it becomes more difficult to completely dissociate from phones and emails. #wellness #health #mindfulness #mentalhealth #commuting #workfromhome

21.01.2022 Unfurl like a flower open the body and move the spine - it really loves it. Hope you’re all enjoying your hump day as much as I am

20.01.2022 Pilates is different to almost all exercise I can think of but there are similarities to gymnastics, yoga, dance, and strength training. I think of Pilates as like a movement salad. With Pilates you can use every part of the equipment and there is no shortage of combinations. With all the things to think about and do it’s impossible to get bored and that’s why we get sucked inand stick with it forever

19.01.2022 It’s the weekend and that means taking it easy and going with the flow. I love the rolldown catstretch vibe of this sequence and just allowing the body to move. Great for hamstring length, spinal articulation and overall mobility. Can be done at home by rolling down to 4point kneeling or placing hands on a chair/coffee table. ... Happy weekend

19.01.2022 Today is our 4th birthday To be honest I wasn’t sure if we’d make it through the first year, which was pretty rocky. But here we are with an amazing community of people that throughout this weird time has come together in the most positive way. Something that was so unpleasant this year has brought out the best in everyone and we have supported each other not only through pilates but through our collective experiences. Our studio is made up of the best, most enthusiastic, dedicated and diverse bunch of people. I’m so looking forward to spending many more years with you all laughing, crying, getting outraged, hosting baby showers and of course moving! Hip hip hooray

16.01.2022 Anyone else feel like their triceps get a little neglected? Here’s a short little full-body tricep flow to get the arms stronger while opening and getting a nice stretch through the chest and the fronts of the shoulders

15.01.2022 New article on our website about the benefits of Pilates as a cross training tool. Find out why so many elite athletes including David Beckham, Maria Sherapova, Andy Murray and Cristian Ronaldo use Pilates to give them an edge. https://www.centralpilates.com.au/the-benefits-of-cross-tr/

14.01.2022 I call this the Saturday swizzle. Not my greatest teaser effort, for some reason I couldn’t get my body to cooperate. We all have this days and something is better than nothing; right?! Have a great weekend

08.01.2022 I do, but age is just a number and to be honest the older we get the harder we have to work. No matter your age or your fitness ability there is always something to focus on. John is in his 70s with lower back issues. He asked me if there was any point in trying to strengthen and learn new tricks" at his age. My answer was of course there is! Does he want to be able to run around with his grandkids and play the sports he loves to play? Or would he prefer to watch from the s...idelines? One or two hours a week isn’t a big commitment when you think about the rewards. For some context John likes to work very hard. He goes to the gym, swims in the ocean and plays tennis. He also thinks that harder is better but his back isn’t as strong as it could be. So he was a little unhappy (probably an understatement) with me for taking him right back to the basics. We spent a few weeks relearning the postural muscles so that his hypertonic muscles could relax and he can go back to what he loves doing without pain and with confidence. John didn’t think the basics would challenge him but it did and he worked just as hard as he did at the gym. He is much better now and as you can see by his review - he likes me again!

03.01.2022 New article on our site about the benefits of exercise on mental health. There are some really interesting things that happen chemically and cellularly to the body and the brain that have long lasting effects. Have a read and tell me what you think! https://www.centralpilates.com.au/mental-health-benefits-o/

01.01.2022 Wunda chair This little sequence of step ups/pulses/arabesque is an elaborate way to climb stairs in the real world . It’s great for strength, balance, flexibility, proprioception (where your body is in space) and self-trust. Pilates teaching us all of the things
