04.01.2022 International pottery guru Jeffery Mincham is demonstrating in Brisbane. On Sunday 23 June 2019, Jeffery Mincham AM will be the guest of Ceramic Arts Queensland, presenting our 2019 Ian Currie Memorial Workshop. Following, in the afternoon, will be a much-anticipated demonstration of creating teabowls and a talk about mid-fired glaze techniques. Jeff will give an overview of the current state of contemporary ceramics both here in Australia and internationally. ... Jeffery Mincham is a giant of Australian ceramics. In 2011 he was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM). This award follows his 2009 recognition as an Australian Living Treasure - Master of Australian Craft, by Craft Australia. Jefferys landscape ceramic vessels show a long and varied relationship with the capricious traditional Japanese Raku aesthetic. Jefferys afternoon workshop will be a demonstration of the construction of a variety of forms, from tea-bowls and slab built teapots to larger scale coil-built forms and platters. Jeffery is a mid-fire specialist. He will lead a discussion on mid-fire glazes and their creative applications. Jeff will also bring a small group of his exquisite works to illustrate the outcomes he has achieved with the mid-fire glazes. This is a not to be missed event! Book now on the Ceramic Arts Queensland website! You can see more of Jeffery Minchams work on his website: www.jeffmincham.com
