24.01.2022 Check out the amazing artworks by Georgia Zoric @georgiazoric: Though a relative new comer to ceramics, Georgia Zoric, (daughter of celebrated 80s knitwear designer Libby Peacock) currently works out of the Busselton home she shares with her husband and three teenagers. With a background in Graphic design and Illustration, Georgia creates hand built ceramics that range in form from functional ware inspired by the antique stoneware jars and pots that filled her childhood home..., to the sculptural heads and busts that have been informed by Georgias love of childrens book illustrations. I am a little obsessed with story telling in all forms. I find that my stick puppets and busts seem to speak to the child in everyone and the spontaneous conversations that they invoke, are a joy to behold! Georgia can also often be found working and firing her creations in Dunsborough at the Commonage Pottery Gallery. @ Perth, Western Australia See more

21.01.2022 Check out the beautiful artworks of: @juliet_tang_ceramics @artleaf_ "It is through my perspective as a plant collector and an architect that I have discovered the love for ceramic art.... Currently, my work is an exploration of materials and fundamental techniques in ceramics. From the basic bowl to slip casting and finally to composite, hand built vessels. My aim is to be able to articulate the relationship between form, function and art. It is through experimenting with different techniques and the understanding of materials that I hope to eventually find my own direction and style." @ Perth, Western Australia

19.01.2022 Erin Jago is based in Perth working part-time as a Landscape Architect while also undertaking studies in counselling and creative therapies. Erin found clay in 2015 and immediately fell in love with the process. Over the past few years she has benefited personally from the therapeutic process of working with clay and is passionate about sharing this with others. With a preference for hand building, Erin uses coiling, pinching and slabs to create various functional and decorative ceramic pieces. The abstract shapes and forms are inspired by her experience with the natural environments of Western Australia. You can follow Erin on her creative journey by visiting her instagram page: @aridhand

14.01.2022 River Ceramics by Jolene Hewison @river.ceramics . . I have been studying and practicing everything I can around the art of ceramics for around 2 years, though a large portion of that time has been specifically spent working on the method of Sgraffito.... After learning how to work with wheel throwing, I was able to develop a particular style for my work, which I have honed into a series called The Wild Ones. Exploring this detailed style of graphic ceramic art has led me into new design ideas and styles, which I have accepted to be an ever-evolving creative process. I also love to process wild clays from our beautiful Margaret River region and explore all the variables I can in form, firing and finish. My current focus is on form, design and texture, expanding these ideas with incorporation of driftwood, varied clay blends and slip painting.

11.01.2022 Marian Giless works are ceramic sculptures that invite close looking and individual discovery. Since studying an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art at Central TAFE 2010-13 she has worked from a studio in Fremantle. Marians art explores personal stories, inner worlds, and the effects of chance and experience on human nature things she finds intriguingly expressed by the mutability and persistence of clays interactions with moulds. She is currently interested in the history of the early colonisation of Western Australia which seems too easily forgotten, although so recent. @ Perth, Western Australia

07.01.2022 @carolinevalenti_ : I began exploring clay s two years ago and got hooked. Im fascinated by the multi-layered effects that the coloured porcelain reveals after cutting into each layer leading to irregular forms and patterns. @ Perth, Western Australia

04.01.2022 Check out the beautiful ceramics by Megan Brandis @meganbrandis Megan approaches ceramics by experimenting with form design, function and aesthetics to produce unique pieces. Megan creates refined wheel thrown vessels and loves the process of hand building, with which she makes interesting sculptures, then distorts the forms, further creating one off pieces. Megan enjoys the contrast in her glazes of being calming or slightly chaotic. The joy of experimenting and practicing all aspects of ceramics and glazing is part of the everyday for Megan.
04.01.2022 @bower_bird_designs ; . "Gail McCahon is new to ceramics having worked in other mediums for many years. Whilst still wanting to try everything, Gails work is mainly slip-cast or hand-built taking inspiration from everyday objects, and she is always on the hunt for interesting shapes. Gails other passion is gardening and she compliments her ceramic vessels with unusual plants or cuttings from her plant collection. Gail can be found at @bower_bird_designs on instagram." @ Perth, Western Australia
04.01.2022 Dee Jecks Inspired to start her ceramics journey after visiting Japan in 2017, Dee Jecks crafts vessels for everyday rituals experimenting with form and surface decoration. She creates work under the name Earth to Calida which describes the process of soft malleable clay transitioning to its ceramic state. @earth.to.calida
04.01.2022 ~ Judith Paisley ~ My introduction to pottery was late in life. I thoroughly enjoy throwing on the wheel however after an inspiring workshop with raku artist Britta Stolle-Jacob I learned to appreciate the unlimited potential of hand building and became captivated by raku firing, a significant turning point for me. I have since developed a strong passion for the raw and rustic nature of ALTERNATIVE firings. I am driven by fine powerful simplicity of form being the ultimate ...canvas to showcase the dramatic permeations derived by alternative firings. I love the close interaction with nature and the elements; the fact the artist has so much physical input and influence throughout most of the process.I like that there are no set rules as such, with plenty of scope for experimentation and room to put your own stamp on varying outcomes. With alternative firing, you quickly learn you are not in control, but part of the process.Learning not to be too precious about your pieces allows you the freedom to experiment, learn and grow. 04.01.2022 Susan Flavell - "The Dogs Artist" The Dogs Artist is a series of video portraits, ceramic sculptures and photographs that explores my relationship with my dog Dotness (since passed). The exhibition intersects my life as a dog trainer and an artist. 04.01.2022 @guundie Penelope Sculpture, 16 x 29 x 29 cm; bisque fired clay and melaleuca wood ... My artwork is a sculptural metaphor: the wood represents the natural worldthe basis for all human life, providing shelter and protection. The female figure, representing humankind, adapts the shape of the wood her dwelling, her envrionment and shows her reverence with a kneeling posture.Woman and wood support each other in a caring exchange. Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. Albert Einstein

03.01.2022 The commonage pottery and gallery is part of the Happswines venue, just 10 min drive up the hill from the seaside town of Dunsborough in Southwest WA. It started as Happs Pottery back in 1978 when Erl & Ros Happ decided to spend more time creating and selling to the public. Today, its was functional pottery with many artists & friends popping in to try their hand with clay. The Happs planted a vineyard and commenced their wine making journey which has been a great success fo...r them. However, they have never lost site of the importance of the pottery and the inspiration it brings. The pottery is now run by Manager Japneet Keith and is a host of a number of incredibly talented artists in residence. It is lively , creative, rustic and joyful space ; we hope you can visit one day. You can taste some wine, enjoy a picnic and chat with the potters while they create in front of you. Japneet Keith has been part of the Happs team since 2015. @commonage_pottery_gallery
