25.01.2022 Congratulations to Kristina and Sean Rolland on the birth of baby boy Jaxon

25.01.2022 If we were playing golf this weekend it would have been a shotgun start in preparation for the grand final. Not this year. Not all regular members play on grand final day as they prefer to watch the build up and prepare for the big match. Looking at the time sheets from years gone by it looks like all of the club's Collingwood supporters play that day though, not sure what this means. I walked the course during my exercise period and the rain we had on Fri/Sat has impacted th...e course once again. Hopefully the good weather ahead for this week will dry it out a bit. For those that slice their approach shots on the 8th, the base gardening staff have cleared out the bush on the RHS, that will make it easier for you to find your balls. (see the attached photo sent through by Shina). Years gone by: 2013 - Night golf was played on grand final eve, it was a good turn out and fun was had by all who attended. The Hooker Trophy finalists were confirmed, Bob Andersson and Noel Baker will play Frank Weir and Blake Walsh. Coring was scheduled to occur Mon 30 Sep. 2014 - Members were reminded to fill in divots 2015 - Coring occurred during the week, many thanks to our volunteers Robbo, Norm Schmidt, Al Dewhurst, James and Rod Hogan Keogh, Noel Baker, Col Dowd, Bruce Thompson, Peter Molloy, Bill Brown, Gonzo, Brian Bostelman, Denis Northcote and Shina. Well done and many thanks gents. 2016 - Coring is scheduled for next week, volunteers needed. The anniversary dinner is on Sat 07 Oct, money in by next week. Ex President sent his best wishes through to the club as he caught up with Pam and Bill Brown whilst they were on their travels. 2017 - Thanks to all who participated in the working bee which saw the drain in front of the 6th green being filled in and making it a more playable hole. Happy birthday to some of our older members, Ron Crosbie turned 82 and Bob Jeffries 80 over the last week. We also got an update from Bruce Klimeck who was in recovery mode following his heart problems a few weeks ago. Well done to Deb, Deb and Marg who represented the club and took out the inaugural Rosebud Park Challenge Bowl last week. 2018 - The club was preparing for the Cerberus Junior Open with Rod Hogan Keogh leading the way. Winter Eclectic finished last week with Ed Hamlin taking out A grade and Geoff Smith B grade. 4BBB was played today with new member Leon Moran and Murray Sells winning on the day with +11, knocking off Peter McDonald and Joe Smedile on a count back much to the enjoyment of the club. 2019 - nothing recorded in the captain's log or results recorded. Not sure why this happened. Winter Eclectic ended last week with Scott Drummond taking out A grade and Rob Cook A grade. 2020 - just listened to Dan say there will be no golf allowed for at least another 3 weeks

24.01.2022 We were due to play Stableford today and if we could, casual water relief would have been in play. The attached photo shows a small flood near the drain on the 18th early this morning but most of it has drained off now. Pat, Dave, Danny and other members have done a lot of work during the week putting in drainage across the fairway of the 9th. This should help with draining the water away from the fairway and into the LHS hazard area. The spoon drains on the RHS of the 9th fa...irway have also been filled. The Years gone by: 2013 - we just had the Federal elections with the Liberals under Tony Abbott getting the numbers. Thanks to Alan Dewhurst who repaired the first tee marker. 2014 - many thanks to Robbo, Billy Brown, Kev Coles, Norm Schmidt and Peter McCoy for their work on the 2/11 drain 2017 - the course was very wet and carts were banned 2018 - Bob Smith won the day with 42 points playing off 12, with Dinga Bell winning B Grade, Denis Northcote C grade and Tracey Sigge the ladies 2019 - Peter McCoy was announced the volunteer of the month. Members were reminded to keep carts off the fairways. Dirk Rynaard won the day with 42 points playing off 13, Ed Kennedy B Grade, Ian Walker C Grade and Tracey Sigge the ladies.

22.01.2022 In accordance with our program we would have held our AGM and the Cyril Chandler Shield today. Quite a few members told me that they dont normally play on AGM day but were going to play this year. When I asked them why they told me just to hear the Captains report, such is the respect and aura that Dave brings to the club. On this day: 2014 - we acknowledged Bruce Klimeck's birthday, he turned 56 2015 - Tim Crane went within 50cm on the 13th and collected 12 balls... 2017 - Kev Coles won the Cyril Chandler Shield 2018 - Geoff Leach won the Cyril Chandler Shield with 36 pts 2019 - Dave Stephenson (this is not a typo) won the Cyril Chandler Shield with 39 pts ocb Phil Barrett and Scott Norton See more

21.01.2022 Results for yesterday;s 4 person ambrose. Well done to the winning team, it would be interesting to know which holes Joe Smedile's drives were taken

21.01.2022 Who would have thought the first Sat golf we could have played in over two months would be washed out. Lets hope today's announcement sees us playing in fours and allowed to play competitions. If we were playing this weekend it has traditionally been the last round of the Seniors Championships, the Junior Challenge Cup and the Spring Cup. It is also the time of the year just prior to Club Championships where we announce the Anchor Award. This round in years gone by:... 2012 - We celebrated Lisa Kent's victory in the state-wide final of the Silver Spoon competition. Lisa had 43 points at the Box Hill Golf Course to blitz the field. Murray asked all members to fill in their divots and thanked those volunteers who helped work on the bunkers during the week. 2013 - The match committee advised the last round of club champs would be seeded. Volunteers were requested to do some maintenance on the bunkers. Congratulations Wayne Lewis who won the Seniors Championships. 2014 - We advertised the Alf Simpson Cup and had a visitor play today, Jason Wilson from Vincentia. Congratulations Phil Barrett who won the Seniors Championships. 2015 - We announced a new ambrose event sponsored by Ed Kennedy. We were asked to watch out for snakes and to repair our divots. Congratulations Geoff Leach who won the Seniors Championships. 2016 - We acknowledged Peter McDonald as the Senior Champion and Lee Sheehan the winner of the Junior Encouragement Cup. The Commodore Purvis Trophy was held with Tim Wilson and Deb Midendorf winning and Pam and Bill Brown the Nett award. Joe Smedile won the coveted Anchor award which he wasn't too happy about and George Torrens was nearly killed by Rod Hogan-Keogh with an errant tee shot on the 3rd hole. 2017 - Scott Drummond shot a 69 today to equal the course record. Barry Learoyd was welcomed back at the club, James Hogan-Keogh won his GPV junior pennant match 9/7 giving his opponent 28 shot start. The inaugural Premier League Winners were the Silver Tails comprising Ed Kennedy, Geoff Smith, Dirk Rynaard, Kev Anderson and Geoff Leach. Congratulations Graeme Davies who won the Seniors Championships. 2018 - Paul (Pop) Rowan was a welcomed visitor, Frank Weir took out the Seniors Championships. Scott Drummond and Michelle Thornell won the Commodore Purvis Cup with Kris and Peter Kelly taking out the nett award. The Gun Trophy was reinstated after a number of years not being played, unfortunately we had to hand it over to the Flinders Golf Club. 2019 - The club reclaimed the Gun Trophy from Flinders, many thanks to Col Dowd as our main organiser and captain for the day and Kath Dowd and Vicki Rynaard for their catering assistance. Well done to Pam Brown who won the Legacy golf day at the Mornington Golf Club. Congratulations Brian Lobascher who won the Seniors Championships and James Hogan-Keogh the Junior Encouragement Cup. Well done to Tracey and Nick Sigge who won the Commodore Purvis Trophy See more

20.01.2022 If we were to play this week it would have been playing Par. Whilst it is a somewhat minor event, I reckon it would have been well accepted if we were playing it this week. Normally we would be talking about the start of the football finals at this time of the year. Dave Hilet tells me after last night's game Collingwood are no longer in the hunt, commiserations to Evan Carter, Jamie Wilson, Tim Wilson. Annie Joyce, Kev Anderson , Scott Drummond, Juddy, Dave Stephenson and a...ny other Pies supporters not mentioned. The club AGM will be held when we can, dependant on the state government restrictions. Full details can be found on the club website: http://cerberusgolfclub.com.au/ The years gone bye: 2012 - Les Whitton went into hospital and the Masters team defeated Warburton 5-2 2014 - many thanks to Joe Smedile, Bruce Thompson and Rob Cook for donating chook manure which was well utilized throughout the course 2015 - Thanks to Trinny for constructing the side gate to the club house. Well done to Kath Dowd, Cheree Northcote and Anne-Maree Leggo who won the Cerberus Bowl, the first time since 2006. Well done to Tanya Wilson to had a big win for the punters club and performed much better than Scott did today. 2017 - The club ran an AFL "pick the top 8" competition. Wayne Lewis won and collected $65 and George Ellis was the runner up. 2018 - Well done to Tim Crane, Peter Molloy, Vicki Rynaard and Jan Smith who qualified for the Victorian play 9 championship. Congratulations to Ed Kennedy who had a +3 and won the day, beating Scott Drummond (A Grade) and Denis Nortthcote (C Grade). It was a very tough day with only 50 men and 2 ladies playing. 2019 - we acknowledged Pat Foy for his 20 years of service to our club. Aaron Hosking won the day with +6, defeating Tim Wilson (A Grade) and Scott Norton ( C Grade).

18.01.2022 If we were able to play golf this weekend we would have played the August Monthly Medal sponsored by Julie Coles and the punters club. Well done to Scott Drummond who collected $107.50 yesterday and stays in the chair for another week. The course has held up pretty well during the week and it is starting to dry out a bit with the wind that we have had. The greens are pitch mark free but the wind has dropped plenty of branches. Years gone by: 2013 Will Sorrell from Ocean Shore...s visited along with Jeff Slocombe 2014 Andy Stonill had a seniors moment and lost his GPS on the course. We celebrated Noel Baker's birthday, he wouldn't give us his age but it was thought to be old. Thanks to Peter McCoy, Alan Dewhurst, Brian Lacey, Norm and Beth Schmidt and Shina for doing a pick-up sticks day. Noting it was a stroke day, we acknowledged Nick Sigge and Brian Lacey who both had 16s on 16 2015 We acknowledged Matt Foy who made the Victorian U17s country team 2016 We acknowledged Taffy Davies who hit a hole in one on the 6th. Taffy collected $50 from hole in one sponsor Kev Bentley. Col Dowd and Anthony Tulk won the Hooker Trophy final 2017 Ex captain and Life member Evan Carter was in Peninsula Private and was likely to be in for the week. Seems like this is still occurring three years on. Col Dowd was also in hospital, I believe they had to restart his heart. Happy 50th Penny Hogan-Keogh 2018 Hooker Trophy semi-final results, Steve Wright and Brendan Rowan def Ian Quinlivan and Scott Drummond, Peter Kelly and Peter Immell def Bill McMinn and Dave Gibson 2019 We played the "Do it for Jarrod Lyle" day today, a stableford event sponsored by Phil Barrett. Neil Uren won the day, Tim Wilson A Grade, Laurie Slocome B Grade and Penny Hogan-Keogh the ladies. See more

14.01.2022 With the heavy conditions today, it was good to see 90 members get out there for a hit. Due to the temporary tees on 1/10 and 9/18, today's event will not be handicapped through Golflink. The Cerberus Golf Club always strives to be an inclusive club, a club that welcomes all races and creeds. In light of the current anti-racist movements, the club have decided to cease selling Allens "Teeth" at the club as we feel this could be offensive towards Collingwood supporters.

14.01.2022 The two 9-hole rounds of the last two Saturdays have now been input into Golflink which has combined the scores to produce a handicap adjustment. The same will occur for the next two Saturday rounds while we are under the COVID restrictions. The best scores posted were Kath Dowd with 21pts on 11 Jul and Lee Sheehan Jnr yesterday with 21pts. Congratulations. I was lucky to play with former course record holder Bob Smith yesterday. I would have thought one of the best putters i...n the club would not 3-putt on our small greens but I was wrong (on several occasions). Please remember all bookings are now done online via 1golf at the following link: https://cerberus.1golf.com.au/welcome/index.mhtml. If you are having trouble logging in do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Rohan handicapper

11.01.2022 Even if we were able to play golf this weekend, it is very doubtful that we would have. Dave has said the course is unplayable due to the amount of water throughout, particularly on the third and eighth. The attached photo is of the third taken today about the 220 mark where most drive to or where the shorter hitters like Laurie Slocombe play their 3rd shot from. Today we should have been playing the Life Members trophy, I posted the photos last week as I got my weeks mixed u...p. This round in years gone by: 2013 - we had 50mm rain which made playing difficult. Many thanks to Bruce Thompson who donated a large amount of chook manure. We also acknowledged Sir Les Witton's 82nd birthday which means he should be in the vicinity of 89 in a couple of days. Happy birthday champion 2014 - we cored the greens and acknowledged the volunteers who helped out. We also said happy birthday to Kris Slocombe, 2016 - We celebrated Kris Slocombe's 60th birthday and said hello to a visitor Travis Maher

This will be integrated and implemented for all comps this week. The MiClub score card scanning system will commence next Sat with the Par event. If you havent used this system before, it is very easy and very intuitive so no cause for concern. Many thanks to Joe Smedile for his work installing the tv in the pro shop. Whilst Danny could only watch channel 31 for the first few days, eventually all services were restored once Joe configured the electrics properly. Many would say Joe is an analogue man in a digital world however for chef/plumber/chook farmer he makes a great electrician and is an asset to our club.

09.01.2022 It was with great sadness the Cerberus Golf Club lost one of their favourite sons this week. Evan (Titch) Carter passed away peacefully after battling lung issues for much of the last four years. Titch was a life member of the club having served as captain for many years and contributing significantly within the Peninsula Golf associations. The attached photo is of Titch accepting his 2015 C grade champion trophy from Cerberus Commanding Officer Captain Steve Bowater. Rest In... Peace mate, you will be sorely missed. Years Gone By: If we were to playing this week we would have had a single stableford event. 2012 - we acknowledged Ron Trinham who took out the A grade Winter Eclectic defeating Ed Hamlin and Peter McDonald on a countback. Peter McCoy won B grade. Thanks to the members who helped out this week whilst Pat was on leave, in particular Kev Coles who did a sterling job. Entries are open for the club championships, $30 per person. 2013 - the greens were cored during the week, many thanks to the volunteers who helped out: Robbo, Norm Schmidt, Al Dewhurst, Nick Sigge, Peter McCoy, Kev Robinson, Noel baker. We also thanked Smokey Dawson who relocated the wash basin in the locker room 2015 - Coring of the greens was booked for the following week and volunteers were sought to help out 2017 - We installed the portable toilet between 5 and 6. Joe Smedile said it would be useful if you had just wiped the hole of if you were about to play a shit shot. 2018 - The Junior Open would be held tomorrow, with a number of quality junior golfers from the peninsula in the field. Our president Steve Wright and Brendan Rowan defeated Peter Immell and Peter Kelly 1 up in the Hooker Trophy final. Todays event: Denis Northcote won overall with 42 points, Nick Sigge won A grade with 38 pts, Steve Wright B grade with 41 pts and Kris Kelly the ladies with 38 pts 2019 - Well done to Aaron Hosking who had a nett 65 at Portsea and a nett 61 at Sorrento in the peninsula juniors. If you have any more stories please share them.

06.01.2022 As most would know, the course and club are now shut due to Stage 4 COVID restrictions. All time sheets have been cleared and locked whilst we wait this out. Saturday's scores have been input to Golflink so handicaps will be updated and good to go for when we resume. Some good scores were entered, Lee Sheehan Jnr had 46 pts for 18 holes whilst the leading 9 hole scores submitted were Bob Favaloro, Ron Trinham and Jamie Wilson who all had 18 pts. Without golf for a while, I am... going to go back through the archives to see what we were doing on this round years ago: 2013 - long time member Des Dunk broke his hip and was recovering in Beleura hospital 2014 - we celebrated Life Member Peter Molloy's 70th birthday 2015 - we acknowledged Autumn Eclectic winners Greg Wilson and Joe Smedile (this is not a typo). Stay home and stay safe.

05.01.2022 With a mixture of rain and sun the course is in very good condition, pity we cant get out there and play. Lets hope Dan gives the go ahead tomorrow. Our illustrious captain has been reviewing the course in preparation for our return to golf. Knowing we haven't played for a few months he has increased the size of the 4th green which should make it easier to hit. Thanks for considering us Dave. Years gone by this week: 2012 We thanked Ed Hamlin for his maintenance work around ...the sheds 2013 Nil entries 2014 We thanked Denis Northcote and Rod Hogan-Keogh for the work they did to repair a green. 02.01.2022 It was good to finally get a game of golf on a Saturday, no matter what score you may have had. Today we had our club flag flying at half mast in respect of and in memory of club life member and legend Titch Carter. Whilst we have had a few months without golf, some things change and others stay the same. Here is a snapshot of today: Tim Wilson has lost some of his distance over the lockdown however his accuracy has improved. Joe Smedile however has retained his distance but ...lost all accuracy he may have had. Nathan Green's eagle run has come to an end however Neil Smith's has just started Chris Krug failed to make it past the ladies tee on the 4th, much to the enjoyment of his playing partners Despite Dave Hilet making the 4th green larger, many of the players including Scott Drummond hit the tree on the LHS, still 100 meters out. Bob Smith did not go through one hole without championing the Tigers The match committee have set the program for the remainder of 2020 with the upcoming events planned: Seniors Championships, Spring Cup and Junior Trophy Today's event - Stableford with 88 starters Overall and A Grade winner: Aaron Hosking 36ps B Grade - Ricky Welch 36pts C Grade - Ron Crosbie 34pts Ladies - Kris Slocombe 33pts Well done everyone, welcome back.

Cut Off 32, no-one registered for the NTP 9 hole - Front Nine Par Winner Jon Hall +5 NTP 6th Dave Hilet Those playing in the afternoon may have noticed our Captain Dave Hilet with his buggy and bag in the 6th bunker. Whilst the photo doesnt show the full story, his buggy ended upside down in the bunker having fallen off the bunker face, much like Peter Molloy has done on many occasions over the years.

01.01.2022 I hope everyone is staying inside and staying safe. If it is any consolation, the course is very wet so it maybe a good thing that we cant play at the moment. This week would have marked the one year anniversary of Dave being our captain. It is noted that he has yet to have a captain's cut off which is probably for the good as he has played some good golf over the last 12 months and dropped a couple of shots since taking over the reigns. To continue our look at years gone by:... 2013 - we were reminded to place rakes into the centre of the bunkers as well as to repair our divots and pitch marks on the greens 2014 - we welcomed back Tim Wilson to the club, Geoff Smith was giving away a full sized fridge and we asked for volunteers to help clear away the wattle on the 7th 2015 - we were looking for sponsors for the gala day on the 8th Nov 2016 - Greg Wilson won the Handicap Matchplay this week and Peter Kelly took out the Autumn Eclectic. 01.01.2022 With the passing of Evan Carter during we week we lost a life member and club legend. You will be sadly missed Titch. Well the course has held up fairly well despite the record rainfall. The new drainage on 9 has taken and should be playable when we return to golf. Lets hope I can update members of recent results instead of what happened years ago. Congratulation to Glen Rippon who was in the punter's chair today and had a return of about $150, lets hope he doesn't load up on... Collingwood tonight. Years gone by: 2012 we were advertising Melbourne Cup Day which of course is the Alf Simpson Trophy, mixed Canadian Foursomes and the XMAS party. There was a pick-up-sticks day during the week, many thanks to Robbo, Murray, Shina, Peter McCoy, Al, Bob Jeffery, Geraldine Prescott and John Brisatis 2013 pretty much the same as 2012 2014 nil entries in the captain's log 2015 BZ (Well done) Bill Brown and Denis Northcote who loaded all of the manure that was spread on the fairways which just goes to show they don't only talk sh!t.
