24.01.2022 It's a goal! Another week of remote learning - kicked off your to-do list! Well done to our amazing parents, teachers and students!

22.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi, I'm Jamie. I've been working at Ceres Primary for 10 years. I moved to Geelong to pursue my teaching career, where Ms Young (Principal) gave me my first teaching job and I just never left. Before teaching, I worked in a party shop, deli and helped my dad with his furniture removal company.

21.01.2022 Our staff completed Cultural Understanding and Safety Training (CUST) and as a result, received a grant to purchase some Indigenous resources for our school. Here are some of the books we purchased. We can't wait to use these at our school.

19.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES CONTINUED: In today's case it's MEET our amazing PRINCIPAL Lissa Young! "Grew up in Colac and left for University at 17. I have been a teacher for nearly 35 years and in Principal class for 20 years. I have a Diploma in teaching, Graduate Diploma in teaching, Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education. I love to learn new things and do my best. The reason I became an educationalist is to help make a positive difference in student’s lives in a pos...itive work environment. I love mentoring and leading staff; who all have something wonderful to share; particularly if you embrace their passions. I put myself through University by having part time jobs, ranging from: cleaning, waitress, cash register operator, cash manager and bartender. My favorite job was working at the local hotel while being a teacher as it was very different from my employment and gave me the opportunity to talk to a wide variety of people. I love travelling!" 15.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi my name is Julie, better known as Mrs Robbo. This year I am teaching music to the whole school each Friday morning. I grew up in the district and went to Mt. Moriac P. S. which unfortunately closed down in the 1990’s. I have taught at many different schools including Maldon, Castlemaine, Woolsthorpe and Torquay. I have always enjoyed music, so I feel lucky to have the chance to pass the joy of music onto others.

13.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi I’m Liz, I work in Education Support. This is a job I love and I am very passionate about supporting students in their learning and their wellbeing. I grew up in Geelong and I have lived in Melbourne and London. I was a travel agent for 21 years before working in Education. This is where my love for travel was born! I certainly don’t get to travel as much these days and I still have many places to tick off my bucket list! I am kept busy with my 3 kids, my husband and our new kitten Maggie.

12.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: I’m 26 years old, I grew up in a small country town, on the NSW side of the Murray river. After completing a 'Bachelor of Science' at Melbourne University, I came to Geelong to follow my passion of becoming a teacher. This is my second year at Ceres and one of my favourite moments so far was working with the students to hold a market in the bus shelter last year.

09.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi I’m Shay! I work as a Grade 1/2 teacher at Ceres Primary. I’ve lived in Geelong my whole life and have been working as a graduate this year! I previously completed a degree in Graphic Design and love incorporating art and design into my lessons. My biggest passion is when students have a smile on their face when they learn something new and have that a-ha moment!

09.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hello! My name is Josh and I’m the Grade 1/2 teacher and ICT Co-ordinator at Ceres Primary School. I grew up on a farm in Western Victoria before moving to Geelong/Melbourne to complete my teaching degree. I worked as an Education Support staff member in Footscray City Primary School as I completed my degree before moving to Ngukurr in Northern Territory for my first teaching position and then onto Ceres. I love to incorporate students’ interests into their work and enjoy hearing about their passions and interests.

09.01.2022 Meet the teacher Ceres Hi, I'm Sheridan! I grew up in Melbourne in the Mt. Dandenong Ranges for most of my life before moving to Surrey Hills. I currently work for the DET as a MARC teacher for Geelong regional schools. I trained as a Primary classroom and Secondary teacher back in 2003. I have been teaching in primary and secondary schools for over 15 years. During my time teaching P-12 (visual and performing arts) I was involved in VCE state assessment, examination revie...w panels and mentoring young teachers. During my PhD, I was lecturing at Deakin University in Arts and Education in Melbourne & Geelong (Performing and Visual Arts). I was also supervising HDR students and working in Wellbeing in Education for the M/Teach course (Children's Physical, Social & Emotional Education). I am most passionate about cultivating children's creative development through visual and performing arts education. I am most passionate about connecting children to their own creative potential leading to life-long learning, personal growth, and social transformation. See more

08.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi I’m Helen! I spent my younger years on a farm in Tullamarine and then moved to Essendon. Whilst studying I worked at Kmart and on school holiday programs. I have been teaching primary school students around Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat and Geelong for 31 years, in both rural and urban settings. One of my favourite teaching moments was when a past student came to find me at school at the age of 19. He wanted to tell me how happy he was in life and that he had such fond memories of the two years he had spent with me in grades 5 and 6. He also apologised for not always behaving appropriately at school.

08.01.2022 We’re loving our new Friendship Chair

07.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: Hi, I’m Claire, I am the Student Administrator at Ceres PS! I grew up on a farm near Horsham in Western Victoria before moving to Geelong to study. 05.01.2022 MEET THE TEACHER CERES: My name is Jess and I am the Learning Specialist and a Classroom Teacher at Ceres. I’ve been teaching at Ceres for the past six years. My role at our school involves working with other teachers to reflect and develop their teaching practice. I am part of the Leadership team and work with other teachers to develop and deliver professional learning aligned with our school’s strategic goals. I’m originally from Geelong but I have also lived the expat lif...e as a child and adult. I have been teaching for almost 16 years and I have worked in different schools in Geelong, Melbourne and also internationally in the United Arab Emirates. Living and working in a country with a vastly different culture and lifestyle to Australia was an experience I feel very fortunate to have had. I am very passionate about teaching the building blocks of Reading and Spelling using the THRASS approach (Teaching Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Skills) and love watching students grow, show curiosity and leadership and improve in their learning. I am passionate about well-being and I am the Student Well-being Coordinator. I have grown up in Geelong but have had the opportunity to volunteer and teach in Canada and in Fiji.
