We will commence again bright and fresh with an exciting new timetable, the week commencing NOVEMBER 1, 2020. ... Last classes this week will be: TUESDAY 5:30 Foundations WEDNESDAY 5:30 Experienced At class this week I will provide some practise sequences and guidance as to establishing or developing your self-practise at home. This is a great opportunity for you to consolidate what you have been learning and apply yourself, since Yoga is a discipline and it is wise to maintain what you have worked so hard to achieve. 11.01.2022 Congratulations to this group of intrepid women who, guided by Tracy the Adventurer, had a big day yesterday. They rose before dawn, trekked up Mount Lesuer, 11km altogether, did some other exciting things before coming to the Yoga Shala late afternoon. A Restorative yoga session to stretch out the back, rest the legs and restore their energy was followed by a lovely dinner in the garden at sunset. Their day was rounded off with a Sound healing session in the Shala. It was an honour to host them and contribute to such a wonderful initiative. Thank you Tracy Hill and Bravo to all participants. Huge thanks to my helpers, Lyn and Dineke, you are priceless

This Paschimottanasana, the East/West, entire-back-body-from-head-to-heels pose, massages the abdominal organs and improves digestion, increases vitality, rejuvenates the whole spine, rests the heart and brain. It is highly beneficial for diseases if the kidneys and for sluggish liver. The effect of this Asana on the mind is magical: an upset mind, irritated, and restle...ss mind becomes tranquil and angry, passionate moods etc are calmed down. 04.01.2022 Salamba Sarvangasana or the Shoulderstand is known as the Queen of the Asanas as it refreshes, tones and rejuvenates the entire system. A stay of 5 minutes or longer refreshes the brain, releases the spine, rests the heart, massages the thyroids in the throat and flushes the ductless glands of the head with fresh blood supply. Hormonal balance is restored. Abdominal organs are toned, digestion improves and constipation is banished. The whole system is soothed and pacified ...as we learn patience there. 02.01.2022 State of the body reflects and influences the state of mind; state of mind reflects and influences the state of the body. The two are inextricably linked. When Asana requires effort in the body, it also requires involvement of the mind. To raise the body off the floor is not just a set of physical actions but also requires total focus and integration of mind and breath to do and maintain the Asana. ... If the mind is heavy, the body feels heavy, and the Asana feels like a struggle. When the effort is integrated, a feeling of harmony and lightness prevails. Mind and body are changed by the practise of Asanas, which are not just postures, but are known as YOG-Asanas because a state of integration and harmony comes about as a result.
