25.01.2022 We pause each year on Remembrance Day to remember those who have died or suffered in all wars. This year our ceremonies will look a little different. Because of Covid-19 restrictions a commemorative livestream broadcast on the Shrine of Remembrance Facebook and Youtube channel will take place. I hope you will join me in honouring those who have served this Wednesday at 10:45 am.... To register your attendance please see: https://www.facebook.com/events/1098267750625057
20.01.2022 Every year we mark today, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. We take this time to remember those selfless men and women who have served, suffered and died in all wars and peacekeeping operations. 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Almost a million Australians served, half of them overseas on shores far from home. ... Today we honour their service and sacrifice. Lest we forget.
18.01.2022 I am pleased to support the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation - Connecting the West campaign. My Member Statement, delivered this week in Parliament, highlights one of their program initiatives - The Youth Leadership Project. The Western Bulldogs truly are a community club for the West. ... 15.01.2022 It was excellent to catch up in-person with Maria Peters, Chair of the Adult, Community and Further Education Board. The ACFE Board provides funding for Learn Local providers in Victoria to deliver pre-accredited education and training programs. Learn Local providers often support learners with limited prior access to education, including learners with disability and CALD learners.... Programs are community-based and flexible to meet the unique needs of learners and support them into further study or a job. I’m thrilled to be working with Maria in my capacity as the Parliamentary Secretary for Training and Skills.
14.01.2022 Construction work to widen the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 lanes has been ramping up for the West Gate Tunnel Project. The widening of the West Gate Freeway is an important part of the Andrews Labor Government - Big Build initiative. For people in the West this will bring us a step closer to an alternative to the West Gate Bridge and a quicker trip to and from the city.... Driving from the West to the city might look a bit different while we build more lanes in the middle of the freeway. So we thank all Victorians of their patience while we make the necessary upgrades to deliver this vital link between the West and the city. The following video gives an outline and update of the project:
14.01.2022 The Grand Final might not be how we wanted it this year- no Doggies in the GF is disappointing I know. But well done to all the teams for making it through this challenging season. I especially want to congratulate Richmond and Geelong for making it to the Grand Final this year. To everyone following at home please enjoy the game and remain Covid safe.
14.01.2022 0 new cases and 0 deaths, well done Victoria.
12.01.2022 The Andrews Labor Government is powering on with its expansion of the Orange Door Network so that Victorians impacted by family violence can get the help they need, when they need it. Four new Orange Door Network sites are coming to Hume Moreland, Brimbank Melton, Western Melbourne and Outer East Melbourne. The $448 million Orange Door Network is a free service bringing immediate and ongoing support services under the one roof.... This means workers from family violence, child and family, Aboriginal and men’s services can provide a range of supports. Including risk assessments, safety planning and crisis assistance, as well as vital connections to services for ongoing help. This expansion follows the Government's Family Violence Reform Rolling Action Plan 2020-2023 the next step in our 10-year agenda to build a Victoria free from family violence. To read the plan, go to: vic.gov.au/familyviolencereform For more information about the Orange Door Network: orangedoor.vic.gov.au.
10.01.2022 We've paved the way for smoother journeys in the West. The Major Road Projects Victoria Team has resurfaced 37 roads from Footscray to Werribee as part of the Western Roads Upgrade. Five bridges have also been strengthened, which will improve safety and increase the longevity of the road network in Melbourne's west.... 08.01.2022 Thank you to teachers across Victoria! A shout out to teachers in the TAFE and Learn Local sector that have worked hard to transition to online and blended learning. In what has been a difficult year, Victorian teachers have continued to make their indispensable contribution to our community.
08.01.2022 Congratulations to Adult Learning Australia on this significant milestone! #ALA60
01.01.2022 Thank you to the team at Pines Learning for having Sonja Terpstra MP and I at your beautiful facilities. Learn Locals like Pines Learning engage with learners who have traditionally faced barriers to education. Their work enables people experiencing disadvantage to reach their learning goals and fulfil their potential.... As one of the newest members of the Reconnect club, Pines Learning will be supported in their vital work. 38 learners facing barriers to study or employment will get the wrap-around supports they need to succeed. Congratulations to Manager Kalli and President Geoff on their leaderships of this excellent centre.
