25.01.2022 We've tried a few different ways to mount lights onto eBikes, and we think this time we've cracked it. This eBike uses the Bosch system with a 12v headlight output, so we've mounted a Lezyne 1000Lm lamp to the underside of the GPS, using a K-EDGE Pro Combo Mount. The Wahoo Bolt is the class leader in GPS units, so this setup is a no-brainer. Simple, light and CNC strong - a triple win. Carbon one-piece frame with a very early alloy swing arm, Deore LX, V-brakes and Marzocchi Bombers, the coolest stem ever...this bike was $2500 in 1996, and as good as MTBs got. To kick off we have put up a couple of Merckx, a De Rosa, a Coppi, the original Millfield Kerbmaster and a Cannondale. Next week we’ll add a Klein, a ridiculously expensive Merckx, another Millfield, and if the Kurri Mongrels don’t mind we’ll put the nEverest bike up there too. We have a few bikes in restoration at the moment and we’re ...chasing some historic bikes from other collections to go in temporarily, so there should always be something new when you come to visit. Each week we’ll do something different, with some rides on Wednesdays or Thursdays after work, and some weeks it’ll be on Saturday after lunch. We’ll kick it off this Thursday at 5.30pm with a Women’s MTB lead by Emily Munn. Find the details in our Women’s social group. All of our rides are maximum 30 riders to comply with the current COVID rules for sporting groups, and if you have symptoms please stay home! Next w...eek could be an Hour Of Power hardcore MTB, or it could be a road ride - we’re not sure yet. We’ll have a kids ride in early December that’s for sure. Martin rescued it from the Dungog tip; we rebuilt the 90-year-old handmade trike with all the original parts and some new bits. It's not a full Millfield Velo restoration, but it has a new lease of life on the streets of the Hunter. ... So what treasures do you have lying in the shed? Grandad's old bike or dad's track racer from the 70s or perhaps Mum's old Speedwell? You better go check. Bringing bikes back from the dead is our specialty, so send us a couple of pictures, and we'll give you an expert's opinion. 05.01.2022 This week, we updated our Habit Neo eBike to the new Pirelli Scorpion eMTB tyres. They're tubeless of course, with Stan's sealant and factory rimtape. These new purpose-designed eMTB-specific tyres feature the new HyperWALL and SmartGRIP+ technologies, so they're tough in the sidewalls and super grippy in the tread. When we fitted them, the difference in sidewall strength between the OEM tyre and these eMTB tyres was remarkable - they're going to be very hard to beat for dura...bility on our rocky trails. We've gone with the Medium up front, and the Rear Specific at the back, and now we can't wait to get out onto the trails this afternoon to try them out. 03.01.2022 Today we're going live with our 2021 charity bike program. The FSR-M is a lightweight dual-suspension trail weapon, and will be available for anyone to ride on shop rides during the year. When you're nominated to ride it, you pay $10 to take your turn and you get to choose who rides it next. Pick it up the day before the ride, shred those trails like a pro, then wash it and return it the day after the ride. First rider on the bike will be Lindsey Black at the Women's MTB ride this afternoon - as you can see she did some stunting on it yesterday #cantgetenough We're working on our charity partner for 2021, it'll be announced soon.
