23.01.2022 Due to recent developments and the advanced contact tracing capabilities of the Service NSW app, Cessnock and Branxton pools will be implementing the Service NSW QR code system at both facilities from 26 December 2020. This means the 1Breadcrumb check-in system will be disabled and, upon entering either facility, patrons will be required to scan the new Service NSW QR code on display or report to staff to be manually checked in. Should you have any enquiries regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to discuss with a staff member at your next visit. We appreciate your cooperation.

20.01.2022 International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held every year on 3 December. It celebrates the contributions and achievements of people with disability around the world and aims to generate greater understanding in our community. With over 10,600 people living with disability in the Cessnock region, Council has a key role to play in creating accessible and inclusive spaces that all community members can enjoy. We are currently developing a new Disability Inclusion A...ction Plan (DIAP) which will outline the steps we'll take over the next four years to create a more inclusive community for people with disability living in and visiting Cessnock. 18.01.2022 In honour of the 1,200 lives lost and over 39,000 seriously injured on our roads each year, Australia's favourite icons, bridges and buildings will light up yellow this Sunday to mark the start of National Road Safety Week 2020 (15 22 November). An annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, Council is proud to support National Road Safety Week and help promote ways to reduce road trauma and fatality. 18.01.2022 Council reminds the community that scheduled paver cleaning and sealing will commence this evening from Cooper Street to Wollombi Road (north side of Cooper Street to Hotel Cessnock). Works will be undertaken by Council contractors and occur from 6pm - 6am Monday to Wednesday and be complete by Wednesday 20 January (weather permitting). Shop owners have been notified of the works. 15.01.2022 Well done to the Millfield Rural Fire Brigade and the Congewai community for taking out the Get Ready Community Award! They pulled together and prepared ahead of a huge fire front known as the Crump Complex fire last bush fire season. It's a reminder to us all of the power of community in coming together and supporting each other during disaster.

14.01.2022 It's great to see upgrade works starting on Cessnock Road at Testers Hollow. The Transport for NSW project will see the 900m stretch of road raised 1.5m higher, reducing the impact of flooding and improving connectivity and safety for our community. The commencement of works was made official this morning with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack MP, Senator Perin Davey, Paul Toole MP and Michael Johnsen MP - Nationals Member for Upper Hunter joining Cessnock City Mayor Bob Pynsent and Maitland City Mayor Loretta Baker on site.

IDPwD celebrates the contributions and achievements of people with disability in our community and aims to generate greater understanding and inclusiveness. One of the first things we can do to help achieve a disability-inclusive world is educate ourselves. 08.01.2022 This morning we checked out the fantastic upgrades to the Cessnock Tennis Courts and Club Evolve. The Club resurfaced unused tennis courts and installed 4 multi-purpose futsal courts thanks to a Club Sport Grant. We can't wait to see locals enjoying this great new facility.

08.01.2022 With last Sunday being the final Family Fun Day of the year, staff of Cessnock Pool, Branxton Pool and Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre would like to thank all who attended for their patience and compliance with our COVID-19 safety measures. 04.01.2022 Council will soon begin construction of a new brick storage facility for the Lions Club of Branxton on the site of Branxton Community Hall. The new purpose built facility will replace the recently removed shipping container at the rear of the Bowen Street site and provide the Branxton Lions Club with a more modern storage space to undertake activities associated with their community volunteer work. 02.01.2022 From Monday 1 March until Tuesday 30 March we're undertaking maintenance at Bridges Hill Park Playground. This includes an extra coat of paint on park furniture, work on the main play unit, gardening and cleaning. Don't worry you can still enjoy the playground and park but some areas will be restricted to allow our teams to get the job done.... 01.01.2022 Mayor Pynsent and General Manager Lotta Jackson attended the relaunch of the Kurri Kurri Community Centre today! The Centre was severely damaged during a huge storm event and after much hard work the Centre has been upgraded and extensively renovated - in fantastic shape and able to serve the community even better than before.

01.01.2022 Nearly 400 local community members came together on the Laguna Village Green last Friday for a special night hosted by us! Community Recovery on the Green was free and organised to support bush fire impacted communities to reconnect, relax and thank local RFS volunteers following last year’s bush fire season. It was a wonderful night to get together and relax. Importantly, it was a way to say thanks and acknowledge RFS volunteers and their families who did it extremely toug...h.
