21.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK "Always Was, Always Will Be." 'Always Was, Always Will Be,' recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplo...mats, first astronomers and first artists. Over the week educators and children will be engaging in various activities incorporating a range of activities through song and dance, games, art, craft and storytelling. We will continue to add photos throughout the week.
21.01.2022 Art lessons in our Preschool room Our Preschool room have been exploring and engaged in a variety of experiences in which focused on their interest of birds particularly the Kookaburra which happens to be our Preschool room name. Educator Cassy who is also an artist explained they would be drawing a picture of a Kookaburra and then paint over their drawing. ... Educator Cassy asked the children about shapes and characteristics of a Kookaburra and began to draw. The children eagerly watched on as their ideas came to life on paper and Cassy took on their suggestions and ideas. Next it was the children’s turn to draw their very own Kookaburra. Children displayed their creative side and imagination as they used the resources available to bring their Kookaburra to life. This experience allowed the children to build on their hand eye coordination and dexterity as well as identify shapes, colours and textures. Arts and crafts encourages children to express themselves and inspires them to think critically.

17.01.2022 WHAT QUALITY IN CHILD CARE LOOKS LIKE? We know that 'quality' means different things to different people. A high quality early childhood service is usually one where:... > You get a sense of belonging each time you enter the centre > Children's holistic development and self-worth will be fostered in a safe, positive, stimulating and interactive learning environment > Children are provided with meaningful experiences and be presented with opportunities to explore their interest, expand their knowledge while developing new skills through planned, spontaneous and child-initiated experiences. >Educators form strong respectful and reciprocal relationships with all children while acknowledging the importance of the children's sense of belonging. >Form respectful partnerships with families built of mutual trust and respect while embracing each family's values, beliefs and cultural background and practices. > Work collaboratively with families and strive to be supportive to their needs while being informative in providing relevant updated information associated within all areas of the early learning years. > Form respectful partnerships within the local community while collaborating with community agencies and services to develop lasting and supportive network which support children and families. > Where staff value each others strengths and experience while building an abundance of professional knowledge and multiple perspectives. All of this information has been extracted from our Centre Philosophy which is the foundation of the high quality practices for Cessnock Kids Preschool & Early Learning Centre!
