25.01.2022 This morning I was joined by CFA CEO Natalie MacDonald as part of my tour around Victoria. It was great to opportunity to meet our volunteers and hear about what matters to them most thank you for having us, Selby and Montrose!

25.01.2022 CFA has recently appointed its first Alpine Commander role, which will oversee the Falls Creek, Mt Buller and Mt Hotham-Dinner Plain areas. Mark Owens has stepped up into this position and the unique challenges that come with firefighting in the snow.

25.01.2022 Have you signed up for the Emergency Services Blood Challenge yet? CFA is currently sitting in 2nd place, right behind Victoria Police - so roll up your sleeves and donate today.

25.01.2022 Your donations following the 19/20 bushfire season will provide our brigades with the tools and equipment to continue their critical role in protecting lives and property. Thank you for your support.

24.01.2022 Thank you to the students of Beaconhills College for expressing their appreciation for our hardworking crews. Although we aren’t able to thank you in person, we are looking forward to being able to safely meet with our local school communities soon.

24.01.2022 Traditional burning is an important way to share knowledge, restore native species and learn about indigenous practices from Traditional Owners.

23.01.2022 CFA's State Logistics Centre is ready for fire season. Join me for a look behind the scenes look at the team and facility that supplies our people with more than 90% of what they need. From protective equipment to hoses - the SLC has our people covered. #FireActionWeek2020

23.01.2022 International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. Emergency Services Foundation will hold three events over the next month to bring together women from across the emergency services sector to celebrate, share, learn and network. The events will be held in Bairnsdale (27 Feb), Wangaratta (14 March) and Melbourne (16 March) and members can register via CFA Members Online.

23.01.2022 Hi, I’m Garry Cook and I am honoured to step up as CFA’s Acting Chief Officer. I’ve passionately served CFA, our people and communities since I was 16 years old. Today is the first day of our strong new future as a volunteer fire service. We are here for the community as we have always been.

21.01.2022 The 2020 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb has commenced and this year those taking part will be stepping up virtually. Steps taken will help raise money for mental health charities. I am incredibly proud of everyone who will be climbing stairs at home and in their neighbourhoods, contributing to one million steps for mental health. You can still sign up here www.firefighterclimb.org.au Good luck to everyone taking part #MFSCMillionSteps

20.01.2022 Great to see our decommissioned firefighting jackets going to a worthwhile cause. 115 old CFA jackets are on their way to warm those who are doing it tough in the Balkans. People Supporting People are the community group behind the collection and will organising them to be sent to be refugee camps and locals in Macedonia.

18.01.2022 Nominations are now open for the Australian Fire Service Medal, as part of the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours. The awards recognise distinguished service to fire services within Australia, and all CFA people are able to put forward nominations for those they feel deserve to be recognised. Nominations are open until 1 November 2020, and all nominations are strictly confidential.

18.01.2022 Today is a significant day for many of our members, past and present. 75 years on, we say thank you to those who served and continued giving to their communities through CFA.

16.01.2022 Lest we forget.

15.01.2022 The smell of smoke alone will not wake you up. Installing interconnected smoke alarms in every bedroom and living area gives you and your family the best chance of an early escape if a fire breaks out in your home.

13.01.2022 Our brigades have been innovative throughout this period of lockdown and restrictions, using a range of online methods to keep in touch.

13.01.2022 Today the Australian firefighting community who fought the horrific 2019/20 fires and continue to protect our communities each and every day, have been recognised on a $2 commemorative coin launched today by the Royal Australian Mint. We are extremely grateful for the recognition of the incredibly important work our members do in protecting lives and property.

13.01.2022 Happy International Youth Day to our youth members, the next generation of our CFA.

13.01.2022 Nearly 100 homes in the Camperdown area have had a boost in fire safety thanks to CFA’s South West Community Safety team, Camperdown Fire Brigade and Camperdown Lions Club. The groups came together to protect the most vulnerable in the community, installing more than 100 smoke alarms, distributing 90 fire blankets, and replacing a considerable amount of smoke alarm batteries. A fantastic initiative from the South West team to help keep our communities safe well done!

11.01.2022 Today I joined Vic Emergency, Fire Rescue Victoria and Forest Fire Management Victoria for the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) bushfire seasonal outlook. While we are potentially looking at fewer prolonged fires this season, this doesn’t mean our communities can be complacent. Start preparing your properties and planning for fire season when it hits.

11.01.2022 Today marks 38 years since the Ash Wednesday bushfires. We are thinking of those who fought in the fires and those still affected to this day.

09.01.2022 Mount Taylor Fire Brigade crews have received a new vehicle thanks to Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade. After Lakes Entrance purchased a new Forward Command Vehicle, they kindly donated their previous FCV to Mount Taylor, who made some minor upgrades before adding it to their fleet. A great example of brigades helping each other out.

08.01.2022 Emergency Management Victoria Commissioner, Andrew Crisp joined me at CFA’s State Logistics Centre for Day 2 of #FireActionWeek2020. The team works incredibly hard preparing for fire season. The Centre distributes vital equipment to 1,200+ CFA brigades across Victoria. We’re getting ready for fire season and we’re asking the community to do the same.

08.01.2022 During the cooler months we see an increase in house fires, which is why we need to stay vigilant when cooking or heating. Great work from Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade, Werribee Fire Brigade - CFA, Truganina Fire Brigade & Fire Rescue Victoria crews at this house fire, all occupants are thankfully safe (including the dog). Photos: Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade.

07.01.2022 Today, three CFA members were recognised for their remarkable service to the Victorian community being recipients of the Australian Fire Services Medal (AFSM) - Queen's Birthday Honours. Join me in congratulating this year’s award recipients for what is truly an incredible achievement. This is a moment to be proud of. ^SW

06.01.2022 A great initiative to engage local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities. I look forward to seeing this vehicle out and about - well done team!

05.01.2022 Fantastic team work from all agencies involved in the search of William Callaghan, and for the support of the local communities that saw him reunited with his family today. Victoria Police Ambulance Victoria Victoria State Emergency Service

05.01.2022 It was great to spend yesterday at Ballarat City Fire Station with Fire Rescue Victoria Commissioner Ken Block, ushering in a new era of Victoria's fire services.

04.01.2022 Thank you to the organisers of the Brighter Days Festival last year that donated $150,000 to the Ovens Valley Group of brigades. Part of the money raised by the event along with a $50,000 donation from the Australian Communities Foundation went towards a new Forward Command Vehicle for the group. The new vehicle has comms and a computer to help with fire mapping, as well as carrying medical supplies, water, and food.

03.01.2022 Another big THANK YOU! Bemm, Goongerah and Wairewa fire stations will be fitted with state-of-the-art sprinkler systems thanks to a generous $40K donation from German clubs of the international association - Inner Wheel Australia and a supplementary $11K from CFA. The sprinkler system is tailored for each location. It runs for two hours and is a reticulation system meaning half the water used runs back into the tank.... The Bemm community was completely cut off for a month during the fires, as there was only one road in an out. This new system is particularly important in any small town where the fire brigade often becomes the de-facto emergency point where people gathered, particularly with tourists around.

02.01.2022 To our LGBTIQ+ youth within CFA and our communities, we welcome you, respect you and support you. By wearing it purple today, we’re supporting safe and empowering environments for our rainbow youth. Happy #WearItPurple Day.

01.01.2022 We would like to wish all the dads in CFA and our wider communities a very happy Father’s Day.
