25.01.2022 What a difference 4 days can make! The Inverloch Fire Brigade and Santa have been in further conversations this week, and have come up with a plan! The Santa run will proceed in our normal fashion on Christmas Eve this year! We are finalising details of the amount of bookings we can take to keep us within the Covid Safe guidelines, and will have more to say over the weekend. We are hoping to start taking bookings in early December. As has been the case this week - Watch this space!

24.01.2022 Thank You to The Inverloch BushFire appeal for the invitation to attend the bushfire appeal today. It was a fantastic day with music, raffles, face painting and food stalls, everyone had a great time looking over our new tanker with plenty of questions being asked. Weather was perfect with plenty of sunshine for a fantastic cause with money going towards GERF( Gippsland emergency relief fund) and WIRES.

24.01.2022 Everyone who comes to work, whether it be firey, ambo, police, we want to go home at the end of the day, and we dont want something which would be a minor acc...ident at 40km/h to be a catastrophe at 80km/h, 90km/h or 100km/h. For emergency services workers, the roadside is part of the office. Thats why were asking everyone to think about their safety and slow to 40km/h when passing emergency services vehicles.

24.01.2022 Are you interested in making friends? Being part of a team? Helping the community in times of need? The Inverloch Fire Brigade might be the place for you! We ar...e currently looking for members to assist us in many different roles, from non-operational to operational! If fire fighting isnt your thing, dont let that stop you, there is a lot more to CFA than just putting out a fire. If you are interested in joining, please message us on Facebook, or go to https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/volunt/vol-express-your-interest and register your interest, and one of the team will contact you! 23.01.2022 Inverloch CFA have been in discussions with Santa's team and due to the current global situation we are unable to transport him on Christmas eve for the individual visits that we normally enjoy. We are however working on ways to join the festive spirit and keep the Christmas vibe alive in our community. We will keep you informed through our Facebook page as plans are finalised. We remain committed to serving our community and keeping you protected year round.

23.01.2022 Tomorrow, Wednesday 29th April at 5:40 pm, many CFA brigades across Victoria, including Inverloch will sound their sirens four times. Each siren sounding will represent and honour the brave members of Victoria Police who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40 pm Wednesday 22nd April 2020. If you can hear our siren at 5:40pm tomorrow, there is no reason to be alarmed. ... We encourage community members to utilise this time to take a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris. 21.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers go out to our emergency service brothers and sisters and their families tonight who are involved in this horror incident occurring in Kew. An incident such as this will have a ripple affect across the broad emergency service sector. Please check in on each other. It takes a very special kind of person to put on the uniform and go out and protect total strangers.... Rest easy.

21.01.2022 While we are all staying at home, we are using our heaters more. For your safety, please ensure your heaters are well maintained, you have working smoke alarms, and keep any combustibles at least 1 meter away from the heat source. We are always here if the worst should happen, but we would like to stay at home next to our heaters as well! #STAYATHOME #Homefiresafety #stillhere #alwaysavailable

20.01.2022 A fire blanket is such a simple piece of equipment to have in your home, but it could save your house, or your families lives!

19.01.2022 A message to our fellow Inverlochians. In just a few days, the fire service in Victoria will be part of one of the biggest reforms of a fire service in recent history. As part of this reform, the CFA will be turned in to a volunteer only service. You are going to see and hear a lot of different messages of positivity and negativity in the news. We want to reassure you that our mission remains the same as always. We are here to protect the lives and property of Inverloch, and ...its surrounding communities. Our service will not be changing, we are still going to be here when you call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has been our absolute honour to serve you, the community up until now and it will continue to be our honour into the future. Regards, Matthew King Inverloch Fire Brigade Community Safety Coordinator

16.01.2022 SMOKE DETECTOR WAKES RESIDENT. Late Sunday night Wonthaggi Fire Fighters were called to a house fire, multiple calls were received. Strong winds and powerlines... down hampered the fire fight. A male in his late 50s was fast asleep on the couch and was woken by several smoke detectors operating. It was confirmed as soon as the brigade were on scene that all persons were out and safe thanks to properly installed smoke detectors. Brigades from Inverloch, Dalyston, and Kilcunda supported Wonthaggi on the night. See more

16.01.2022 Smoke alarms must be replaced every ten years. Replacing the unit with a lithium battery powered alarm means you wont need to change the battery for the life of the alarm!

15.01.2022 It was announced this afternoon that a Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) firefighter lost his life in a car accident on Friday while traveling with a colleague in North East Victoria. This tragic accident is a reminder of the invaluable contribution made by so many different agencies and personnel in the effort to protect lives and property each bushfire season - the CFA are lucky to be supported by dedicated local teams from Parks Victoria, DELWP and FFMV. To our colleagues in green, thank you for all that you do - may your colleague Rest In Peace, and his loved ones have the support they need at this difficult time.

15.01.2022 It only takes a few seconds to test your smoke alarms, but it could save you, and your family from tragedy.

15.01.2022 CFA Inverloch wishes everyone a very Happy Easter .... at home. Keep the community safe and enjoy Easter at home this year.

11.01.2022 Fire Danger Period to start on Monday, December 14 Yesterday Assistant Chief Fire Officer Trevor Roberts submitted a request to commence the Fire Danger Period ...for South Gippsland and Baw Baw Shire Councils on Monday, December 14. The request was approved today. The commencement of the Fire Danger Period will be gazetted and come in to effect at 1am on Monday, December 14. It expires on May 1 at 1am. "We are under the influence of the La Nina and abundance of grass growth is prevalent right across District 09," ACFO Roberts said. "We are not seeing a steady amount of rain but rather concentrated heavier falls over shorter periods, this in conjunction with lower Root Zone Soil Moisture will result in rapid curing particularly in the north of the District. "The BoM is still predicting rainfall into summer season but these fine fuels will dry very quickly with some warmer weather and wind in no time." The commencement of the Fire Danger Period means people wishing to use fire must apply and attain a permit. 06.01.2022 As we continue to battle the current fire emergency we reflect on the events of this time eleven years ago when 173 people tragically lost their lives in the 2009 fires. Then, just as now, the land will heal itself and new life will emerge, but we will never forget those we have lost.

01.01.2022 Hello everyone! Santa is finalising his plans, and a Inverloch is definitely on his list of stops to make before heading back to the North Pole for his round the world adventure! We are extremely excited to announce that starting on Sunday the 29th of November, 10 am till midday we are beginning to take bookings for our Christmas Eve Santa run. We will have members at the front of our station for you to make bookings. Social distancing rules must be adhered to at the station.... To be fair to everyone we cannot take bookings via Facebook this year, so to make a booking you need to come to the station on one of our booking days. Numbers must be strictly limited this year, so to avoid disappointment we advise you get in early. While there are bookings available we will be at the station on the 6th and the 13th of December. The cost is $5 per present, or $10 per family. Presents must be delivered to the station no later than the 13th of December and clearly marked with names and addresses, and please keep them relatively small. to allow our resident elves time to make the arrangements for delivery. We know that some people may miss out this year, and hope that those that do understand that we must strictly follow COVID protocols to ensure we are still able to service the community to our normal levels.
