21.01.2022 To keep our CRS-database up-to-date we examine all vehicles that are added to the database ourselves. This week the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 AWD attended in our w...orkshop. As you can see in this video, the bottom of the car is completely flat. The battery pack ensures a low center of gravity and is as far away from the crush zones as possible. We also noticed that all high voltage cables are well concealed, which makes accurate information about location and how to approach them vital to first responders! We examined the propulsion system, the deactivation and immobilization procedures and took multiple detailed pictures for our Crash Recovery System. Check your updates the upcoming months! 21.01.2022 First Shell hydrogen station opening in the Netherlands The first Shell hydrogen filling station in the Netherlands is here. Hydrogen can now be refuelled at th...e filling station along the A4 at the Den Ruygenhoek service area. The opening is an important step for the development of hydrogen in the Netherlands. The Shell location along the A4 between The Hague and Amsterdam near Hoofddorp, is one of the busier filling stations in the Netherlands. It makes perfect sense that Shell selected this location to work with hydrogen, as it is clearly visible to a large audience. It initiates a broad movement towards the necessary national energy transition. We want to stimulate the development of hydrogen in the Dutch mobility sector. We cannot wait any longer, explains Lisa Montanari, Hydrogen Commercial Manager at Shell. PERMIT FOR 20 LOCATIONS You could count the number of public filling stations in the Netherlands where hydrogen is offered on one hand. That is changing quickly. The government has provided funding for the construction of more than twenty stations. The Dutch Climate Agreement states that a total of fifty filling stations must be realised by 2025. The number of Dutch drivers with a hydrogen vehicle should grow up to 15,000 by 2025, and no less than 300,000 (!) by 2030. The new Shell filling point is part of the H2Benelux consortium, in which Shell, together with Total, the Belgian Colruyt, Rijkswaterstaat and Hydrogennet, will realize a total of eight hydrogen filling stations. Shell is responsible for three stations, two of which in the Netherlands and one in Luxembourg, Colruyt is building three in Belgium, and Total is building two in the Netherlands. The opening of this Shell hydrogen station represents another important step towards making hydrogen driving more widely available, in addition to electric driving. Just like with electric driving, the availability of refuelling options is crucial for the success and acceptance of hydrogen as a fuel. Shell is of the opinion that hydrogen will play a significant role in the energy mix of the future. Hydrogen is an interesting option not only for light vehicle transport, but also for heavier transport, especially given the high energy density of hydrogen. Montanari gives as example the increasingly busy inner cities. Electric driving cannot be the only option to work on ‘zero emission’ city logistics, especially given the load it places on the electricity grid. More options are really needed. Hydrogen is a good and sustainable supplement, and can fulfil a buffer function due to the storage option. Certainly, in the Randstad, hydrogen can make a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions, especially in the inner cities. With Shell’s new hydrogen station added, the Netherlands now has five public filling points for private individuals with hydrogen vehicles. There are around two hundred hydrogen vehicles in the Netherlands in total. They truly are the front runners, the ambassadors, says Montanari from Shell. It goes without saying that the goal is to increase the number of stations and hydrogen vehicles in the coming years. PROMINENT ROLE HYDROGEN VEHICLES Two front runners in that area are Toyota and Hyundai. Toyota has been in the electrification of auto-mobility for over 20 years. It was the first manufacturer to market a hydrogen vehicle in the Netherlands, the Mirai. Hyundai also has future vision in which hydrogen vehicles play a prominent role: the Korean car brand wants to become ‘the greenest car brand in the world, and the most innovative for alternative mobility’. Hydrogen is one of the pillars on which Hyundai is focusing, including the Nexo. That model, like the Mirai, is described in the Moditech Crash Recovery System. In total, more than 40 different hydrogen-powered vehicles can be found in the CRS, such as the BMW Hydrogen 7, the Honda Clarity and the Mercedes F-Cell. It also describes several hydrogen-powered buses, such as those from manufacturers Van Hool (type A 330) and VDL. See the list in the images. As a result of these market developments, emergency services will more often have to deal with accidents involving vehicles with alternative propulsion. 20.01.2022 Last Monday evening, a serious accident took place between Holten and Laren (Netherlands) in which several people were injured. A car with three occupants turne...d over in an unsuccessful overtaking action. The vehicle, a Toyota Prius, hit the guardrail and then came to a stop upside down. The occupants were injured and were taken to the hospital by ambulance. SAFE EMERGENCY RESPONSE WITH SUPPORT OF THE CRS At the scene of the accident, the emergency services found from the CRS inquiry that the Toyota Prius was equipped with a hybrid powertrain, a so-called hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). This means that the vehicle has a combustion engine combined with an electric motor and battery pack. For vehicles with such a powertrain, always assume that the vehicle is powered, even if it is silent. DEACTIVATION PROPULSION SYSTEM It often occurs with so-called ‘rollover accidents’ that airbags are not deployed. The impact and therefore the delay is not always great enough to activate the airbags. As a result, the propulsion system can still be switched on and consequently; a deactivation procedure must be followed as described in the Crash Recovery System. There remains a risk of airbags deploying, and the seatbelt pretensioners may still be active. If the airbags are not deployed, it also means that the HV (high voltage) circuit is still working. ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS Rollover accidents are among the most dangerous type of vehicular crashes. They account for the highest fatality rate with more than 10,000 people killed every year in such an accident. When a vehicle turns over on its roof or side, the car accident is considered a rollover. The commonality of rollovers has been linked to the changing composition of vehicles on the highway which is comprised of an increased number of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV’s) and lightweight trucks. These vehicles are more susceptible to rolling over because they have a higher centre of gravity. POINTS OF ATTENTION FOR FIRST RESPONDERS Is the vehicle ignition key at a sufficient distance? It must be at least 5 meters from the vehicle. After deactivation, the high voltage circuit requires 10 minutes to deplete. Check whether the Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack (max voltage of 201 Volt) is damaged. Battery electrolyte is absorbed into the battery cell plates and will form a gel that could leak. The battery electrolyte has a pH of 13.5. The luggage compartment contains the 12 Volt battery for the regular power supply. Moditech’s Crash Recovery System describes in detail how to disconnect it. The SRS control unit (airbags and seatbelt pretensioners) is equipped with a backup power supply with a drain downtime of apr. 90 seconds. 20.01.2022 Fully electrically powered MAN eTGM truck added to Crash Recovery System Since the autumn of 2018, truck manufacturer MAN has been conducting field tests with e...-trucks together with nine Austrian customers from the CNL (Council for Sustainable Logistics) consortium. The nine companies each operate one electric MAN eTGM and are therefore making an invaluable contribution to the development of the truck. What will follow next is small-scale production and sales. The truck, manufactured in Steyr, Austria, meets all the essential requirements for the urban distribution traffic of the future. The model is emissions-free and produces no engine noise due to the electric drive. The e-truck is ideally suited as a refrigerated van with electric transport cooling or as a swap body truck. The eTGM is available as a 26-ton three-axle steered trailing axle configuration with full air suspension. The electric drive is provided by a 264 kW (360 hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 3.100 Nm. The energy is stored in twelve powerful lithium-ion battery packs (total capacity 185 kWh) from the Volkswagen Group, which are located above the front axle, where the diesel engine is located in conventional trucks. The battery packs are cooled by a so-called ‘chiller’. Additional battery packs have been placed on both sides of the chassis. The range is up to 200 kilometres, depending on the deployment area, climatic conditions and driving style. The conventional battery pack consists of two 12V/155 Ah batteries. During braking and deceleration, the tractive force of the truck is converted into electrical energy and fed back to the batteries. This recovery technology can significantly increase the range of the eTGM. A display in the cockpit informs the driver of the current energy level of the batteries. The connectors to charge the batteries are located behind the front axle on both sides of the vehicle. This can be done in several ways; with the 150 kW connector, the truck is recharged in about an hour. Ancillary units such as the power steering pump, air compressor for the brakes and suspension, and the air conditioning system are electrically operated and controlled by the energy management system and work in an energy-efficient manner. Electric propulsion is becoming increasingly important in the search for solutions for clean mobility. These trucks will have a major impact on the market in the coming years when it comes to the replacement of diesel trucks. As a result, emergency service workers will increasingly have to deal with these types of vehicles. The Crash Recovery System currently describes more than 30 different electrically powered trucks, such as the DAF CF Electric, Ginaf DuraTruck E 2114, Mercedes eActros and Volvo FE Electric. 19.01.2022 New category in Crash Recovery System: two-wheelers The electric vehicles market across land, sea and air will be 24 million unit sales this year, which represe...nts a decline of roughly 19% year on year from the impact of COVID-19. Urban vehicles such as electric cars and two-wheelers have the highest unit volume. The volume of the electric two-wheeler market, which is just over 90% of the 24 million sales, may seem surprising. This volume comes from China, where the market is not growing: the market peaked at roughly 30 million sales in 2016 after twenty years of growth and has stabilized at a slightly lower level (some 26 million were sold in 2019). Since consumer purchasing power has surged, China’s urban mobility preference and future growth is now with the car. However, due to the sheer volume of Chinese electric two-wheelers, it will take a while for other motorcycle-dominated regions with a will to electrify (like India) to make a dent in the global market (prediction is that the 30 million mark will be surpassed again in 2029). While in the US and Europe the primary form of urban mobility is the car, in east Asia the dominant form of transportation is the motorcycle, which is much cheaper to own and run. Often, motorcycles are not held to equivalent emissions standards as cars, and are more highly polluting. In the past decade, India has overtaken China to become the world’s largest motorcycle market, selling roughly 17 million in fiscal year 2020 in a global market of 57 million. It is no coincidence that India has seven out of the world’s top ten most polluting cities. When we hear ambitious electrification targets from countries like India, it is the electrification of two-wheelers and micro-mobility, not cars, which is the focus. EMISSION REGULATIONS AND ELECTRIFICATION TARGETS As emissions regulations around the world tighten, and fresh electrification targets eye 2030, it is becoming easier to picture a world dominated by electric vehicles. And in parts of the world where motorcycles have become the ‘family car’ (India, Indonesia, Vietnam etc), the transition to electric two-wheelers seems to be just as significant as the transition to electric cars elsewhere. The likes of Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley Davidson, Honda and others have been in the research and development stage for a handful of electric motorcycles and / or electric scooters for the best part of a decade. The problem is they have either been so futuristic they cannot be taken seriously (check out the Kawasaki J), or simply never get green-lighted for production. In the last couple of years, sentiments have begun to change: the number of investments being made by OEMs into start-ups has picked-up, and announcements of new plans for electric models tends to be a weekly / monthly occurrence rather than an annual one. The focus is not just on high power premium models: low-speed / power e-bike sales are picking up, particularly in Europe where over a third of the market comes from Germany. The growth has been fuelled by imports from China and Taiwan, causing prices to fall, and innovative new business models like e-cargo delivery and dockless e-bike sharing services. Because of these market developments, we at Moditech Rescue Solutions decided to ad a new category called ‘two-wheelers’ to our Crash Recovery System database. We have a dedicated person in our database staff that will fill this database. First vehicles will be added at the end of this year, such as the all electric Harley Davidson LiveWire. HARLEY DAVIDSON LIVEWIRE With the LiveWire, Harley-Davidson is venturing into the field of electric motorcycles. This is not an easy step for the traditional manufacturer from Milwaukee, as the heavy bikes have so far been defined primarily by the heavy V2 gasoline engine. The electric motorcycle is an important component of the ‘More Roads to Harley-Davidson’ strategy, with which the company wants to address a new generation of motorcyclists. The electric motor, which Harley calls the H-D Revelation drive, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in 3 seconds and pulls from 60 (96.6 km/h) to 80 mph (128.8 km/h) in 1.9 seconds. Thanks to the high and immediate torque of the electric motor, the LiveWire shows itself to be absolutely sovereign in overtaking processes, says the manufacturer. Harley states that the range is 146 miles or 235 kilometres, so the bike is more tailored to an urban environment. The engine reportedly has an output of 78 kW and the battery should have a capacity of 15.5 kWh. This would make it the largest battery to be installed in a production electric motorcycle. 17.01.2022 5/2/2021 MVC Duranbah *long post alert* At 21:32 Tweed Rescue VRA was activated to reports of persons trapped collision at Duranbah. Upon arrival crews observed... a single vehicle down an embankment with a single occupant still inside the vehicle. Kingscliff Fire and Rescue 347 were on scene and used a ladder at full extension to help traverse the steep bank while rescue crews set up the winching haul system. This was pivotal in not only extricating the patient, but for gear and personnel as well. Rescue crews stabilised the vehicle and proceeded to perform a roof fold to allow the space needed for patient packaging and the trip up the embankment to the Westpac Lifesaver helicopter. To the untrained eye, this rescue is just like any other. However, in these pictures you see over $100,000 worth of new tools invested into the squad for situations just like this. -Battery operated hydraulic rescue tools -Battery operated portable led lighting -Harkin vertical rescue winching system These investments have been made in line with our commitment to the community of providing the most effective and efficient rescue service possible to the entire Tweed Shire. We have virtually eliminated the use of petrol for generators and petrol powered hydraulic pumps. Decreased clutter on scene with no hydraulic lines and electrical leads, very low noise levels due to no pumps running, and the Harkin winch system eliminates the need for lots of space and personnel required for a safe hauling party. All these benefits result in a faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly rescue. This is only possible because of the Tweed Community chipping in when required, local businesses help out when we ask for help. So the next time you see a raffle or an event we are attending, please buy a raffle ticket or simply pledge a donation. Every dollar helps and 100% of all funds raised goes into Tweed Rescue which is essentially the peoples squad. No admin fees, no commissions, and definitely no wages. 17.01.2022 OPEN VEHICLE DOOR (ON SIDE) Opening the upper doors on a vehicle on its side is difficult as the full weight of the doors has to be lifted. For this reason, it... may be necessary to use a ladder to lift the doors from above, but this can only be done once the vehicle is fully stabilised. Alternatively, once a team member has gained access, they can push the door from below. The doors can then be held open either by use of blocks or wedges or they can be tied in the open position. 16.01.2022 DASHBOARD RELOCATION LIFT There is a distinct difference between the relocation of a dashboard in a training environment and during an operational rescue. Remem...ber: to remove a mechanical entrapment, we simply have to be able to see daylight around our patient; this may mean a movement (or relocation) of no more than a few inches. Of course, more movement is advantageous, but we must strike a balance between what is achievable versus the patient’s medical requirements. 14.01.2022 A WARM WELCOME TO THE OKTO TEAM! The OKTO TEAM was created in December 2019 on the initiative of Jean-Christophe VIARDOT and Alex VICART. Both of them are train...ers within the technical operational road rescue group of SDIS 91. The main goal was to improve the techniques of taking victims in charge of their region. They also desired to take part in the national challenge of road rescue as well as other competitions. The OKTO-TEAM works closely together with our partner from France: Dumont Sécurité. They were equipped with the latest eWXTs. "We are very pleased with this partnership and we want to thank LUKAS and DUMONT SÉCURITÉ for their trust and the opportunity they give us to use such effective tools", says a member of the Team. "eWXT range is very popular among users as they appreciate many things about it (in comparision with common hose connected tools) : handling, efficiency, gain of time, gain of space in trucks and design." 13.01.2022 Fiat markets the new 500e as the only all-electric convertible and deems it ‘La Prima’ meaning first in Italian. It is indeed the first electric car by the Ital...ians seen in a long time. The previous Fiat 500e, released over five years ago, turned a flop. Now, however, Fiat Chrysler has to catch up on electrification and has dedicated an entirely new platform for the small electric car. Besides, Fiat and FCA chief marketing officer Olivier Francois declared that ‘premium is the way we will go with the EV 500’ and called it a ‘kind of an urban Tesla’. Features include level 2 autonomous driving, and in case of emergency the ECall 112 system that can warn rescue services. Buyers get a choice of two powertrains. The entry-level 500e features a 23.9kWh battery and a 92bhp electric motor. Claimed range is 115 miles but this increases to 150 miles during city driving. The mid-range models get a larger 42kWh battery and a 116bhp electric motor. This little car has lots of technology inside which we examined in our workshop. A large ‘one piece’ Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack is located at the bottom of the car. It has a maximum voltage of 395 Volt. Did you know that battery fires can take up to 24 hours to extinquish? We examined the propulsion system, the deactivation and immobilization procedures and took multiple detailed pictures for our Crash Recovery System. 11.01.2022 VEHICLE SHUTDOWN The removal of power from vehicles is something we have been familiar with for many years and it has become part of our established protocols. ...Isolation of the 12v power on all vehicles and since 1997, the high voltage system on hybrid vehicles has principally been driven by the need to isolate airbags and SRS systems and reduce the chance of electric shock (in the case of hybrids). Since 2010, the emergence of wholly electric vehicles has meant that we have had to become more aware of how to isolate the systems on these vehicles in order to continue to work safely on scene. Although there are many electric vehicles on the market globally, the shutdown procedures across all manufacturers are very similar. Vehicle Extrication - THE NEXT GENERATION provides a full description, data sheet and FULL LENGTH HD video link to this and many other popular processes and techniques. 10.01.2022 Market for medium and heavy-duty electric trucks to grow in the following years Despite medium and heavy duty trucks representing only 9% of the global vehicle ...stock, large diesel truck engines combined with high average annual mileage mean that the truck sector contributes 39% of the transport sectors’ greenhouse gas emissions, which equates to about 5% of all global fossil fuel derived CO2 emission. It is this disproportionate contribution to emissions which makes trucks a target for governments. If the global community is going to meet its targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit the impact of climate change then it is clear that a rapid decarbonisation of the truck sector must be a priority. Consequently, the days of the fossil fuel powered combustion engine are numbered. Governments around the world, recognising the potentially catastrophic repercussions of unfettered climate change and witnessing the detrimental impact on human health from vehicle exhaust pollutant emissions in urban environments, are taking decisive action, that will, in the coming decades, drive vehicle manufacturers to zero on-road exhaust emission powertrain solutions. Zero-emission trucks will therefore be needed to reach the new EU 2030 climate targets and the 2050 climate neutrality objective. POWERTRAIN OF THE FUTURE Vehicle electrification offers a solution which effectively eliminates on-road exhaust emission and passes the pressure of decarbonisation on to electricity generation. A majority of manufactures, including Tesla, Daimler, VW and Volvo are investing heavily in all-electric trucks (battery electric BEV), a smaller minority, Toyota, Hyundai, and Nikola, have chosen to focus their efforts on fuel cell EV (FCEV) as the powertrain of the future. Despite issues with the efficiency of hydrogen as a fuel, FCEV remains in the conversation as a technology for long haul trucking applications, where a greater range is required, though the viability of this technology is dependent on the production of cheap low carbon hydrogen and the availability of it. Chinese manufacturers are starting to produce electric trucks, leveraging their experience in electric buses and battery production. Given the Chinese governments strong support for the entire EV industry it is likely that this is where the most significant deployment of EV trucks will be seen in the near future. In the short to medium term, a range of financial incentives for electric trucks in the form of subsidies and tax breaks will be necessary to offset the high initial capital investment required to purchase electric trucks. However, over the next decade, as tightening emission regulation forces diesel truck manufacturers to fit increasingly expensive emissions control devices, raising the cost of diesel trucks, and the cost of electric trucks decreases due to falling battery prices and economies of scale savings on the cost of electric components and vehicle manufacturing, the TCO balance (Total Cost of Ownership) increasingly swings in favour of electric trucks. By the end of the 2020s, with electric trucks produced in volume, the difference in initial capital investment will be offset by the fuel savings and maintenance over the lifetime of the truck. PHASE OUT OF DIESEL AND PETROL FUELLED VEHICLES An increasing number of cities and nations around the world are targeting a complete phase out of diesel and petrol fuelled vehicles on their roads. The electrification of truck fleets, especially those operating in urban environments, is likely to happen rapidly, once the cost benefit and ability of the technology to deliver the required daily duty cycles have been demonstrated. Half of the EU’s total truck activity (in tonnes per km, a good proxy for CO2-emissions) is driven over distances of less than 300 km. These trips could be covered today by electric trucks, thanks to new models currently coming to the market with about 300 km range (enough to cover nine trips out of ten). It is expected that the range of the electric trucks available will swiftly increase to 500 km, covering about two thirds of kilometers and 19 trips out of 20. Targeting the largest urban areas is the optimal zero emission freight strategy for the next years. SMART INFRASTRUCTURE DEPLOYMENT With the right policy and charging infrastructure, road freight can be decarbonized to a great extent in the 2020’s. Smart infrastructure deployment in cities can set the stage for battery electric trucks to come to the fore. Diesel and natural gas truck sales must be phased out between 2035 and 2040 at the latest if the EU wants to be in line with its Green Deal objective of climate neutrality by mid-century. To achieve this level of decarbonisation, a number of legislative and policy changes will be necessary to accelerate both the production supply of electric trucks and to urgently deploy charging infrastructure at the depot (overnight charging), at the distribution center (destination charging) and at publicly accessible locations (public charging). 07.01.2022 Our latest update is out! Make sure your system is up-to-date. PASSENGER VEHICLES A lot of hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid vehicles are added like the Kia XCeed Plug-i...n Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz GLA Plug-in Hybrid, Toyota Venza Hybrid, Toyota Yaris Hybrid and Volkswagen Touareg Plug-in Hybrid. The battery pack and 12 Volt battery of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid are located under the rear seat (see image). This vehicle is equipped with the newly introduced centre airbag in both front seats. BUSES The bus database is extended with the MAN Lion’s City 12E and 18E electric buses. These buses have multiple battery packs on the roof with which form a point of attention for first responders. The new MAN Lion’s City 12G EfficientHybrid and 18 G EfficientHybrid have a combined propulsion system of a CNG engine and a Hybrid system with ultra-capacitors. SPECIAL VEHICLES In the category special vehicles, we have added the Sevic Cargo 500. This electric vehicle is available with a Lead acid battery system, a single 13 kWh lithium battery pack or a double 2 x 13 kWh battery pack configuration. 05.01.2022 Car manufacturers launched 143 new electric vehicles105 BEVs and 38 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)in 2019. They plan to introduce around 450! additi...onal models by 2022 (source McKinsey). First responders will have to deal with accidents involving vehicles with alternative propulsion more frequently. An example that we will frequently see at the road is the electric VW ID.3. It has a range of 531 kilometres. It is the first VW vehicle that is fully designed as an electric vehicle instead of converting an existing model. As a result, it has an almost flat floor and therefore a large interior space. During an emergency situation, first responders have multiple options to deactivate the vehicle. The ID.3 is keyless which means you won't find the key directly in the dashboard and first responders have to look for it at the driver or co-driver and place it at a secure distance of 5 meters. An emergency deactivation switch has been placed under the bonnet. An emergency fuse can be found in the fuse box under the steering wheel that will deactivate the HV system. Alternatively, there is an emergency deactivation cable in the trunk that can be cut in case the other methods are not accessible. Equal to more and more other models, the VW ID 3 is equipped with a center airbag which is placed in the backrest of the driver's seat. And last but certainly not least, take a look at the widely reinforced A-style. Something to consider when creating your approach plan as a first responder. Of course, all this information is interactively accessible in the Crash Recovery System in 19 languages! We will be adding extra pictures in the coming update of September. 04.01.2022 CRS preview: the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck We are working on adding the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck to the Crash Recovery System database. This truck i...s the world's first heavy-duty fuel cell truck. The Korean car and truck manufacturer has entered the European truck market with the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck and wants to further expand the sales of fuel cell trucks. Hyundai sees a great future for hydrogen-electric powertrains in heavy transport, such as trucks and ships. RANGE OF 400 KM The Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck is powered by an electric motor with an output of 350 kW (pulling power 3400 Nm) and a twin fuel cell with a total of 190 kW. These two parallel-mounted fuel cells, each of 95 kW, and seven hydrogen reservoirs with a total storage capacity of approximately 32 kg of hydrogen provide a range of 400 kilometers. Refueling with hydrogen only takes 8 to 20 minutes. The system has a filling pressure of 350 bar. The battery has a capacity of 661 V / 73.2 kWh and comes from Akasol. HYDROGEN VEHICLES IN MODITECH CRS At the moment the Crash Recovery System describes more than 40 different hydrogen-powered vehicles, such as the BMW Hydrogen 7, the Honda Clarity and the Mercedes F-Cell. It also describes several hydrogen-powered buses, such as those from manufacturers Van Hool (type A 330) and VDL. 3D-TECHNOLOGY FOR EVEN BETTER DISPLAY Of course, all the information about this special Hyundai-truck will be accessible in the upcoming Crash Recovery System update! And, even better, some pictures in the CRS will be based on 3D-technology, as can be seen in the images below. These provide an even more exact representation of the different safety and propulsion components in a vehicle. We will also add the Hyundai XCIENT Fuell Cell truck to our Moditech VR Training App. This is an 3D-application in which you as an user can experience three scenarios with modern vehicles. In the scenarios, you can work with the vehicles involved in an interactive way, in combination with the Crash Recovery System (CRS). 02.01.2022 Every two years, the test protocols of the Euro NCAP collision tests are updated. One of the latest adjustments includes measures to avoid the impact of side co...llisions, as these accidents are responsible for the second-highest risk of death or severe injury. During a side collision, there is a very high chance that the driver will hit the passenger (see image). If the driver is driving alone, the body can also make an uncontrolled movement that can cause serious injury (see image). Several manufactures have introduced the center airbag to their latest models to address this problem. The center airbag system is equipped with one or two center airbags. For most models, the vehicle has one center airbag (see Honda Jazz hybrid) but the Polestar 2 and Toyota Yaris, for example, have two center airbags (see image). We will see more and more of these type of airbags in modern vehicles. For first responders, these airbags are a point of attention when supporting the patients head.
