24.01.2022 This morning CFA brigades worked with CFA's specialist mine rescue crews to help an unlucky horse who had fallen into a well. Rescue crews used their expertise to rig up a sling to safely lift the horse out of the well, where it was then treated by a vet for minor injuries. The rescue had support from the RSPCA and FRV. ... 20.01.2022 Last Tuesday, CFA was called to a garage fire in Dromana. Upon arrival, crews found the fire had spread to the house. CFA worked alongside Fire Rescue Victoria to stop the spread of the fire, and while the house suffered severe fire damage, all occupants (including bunnies!) were safety evacuated. 16.01.2022 Valentine’s day came twice this year, when he was rescued by CFA firefighters from Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade - official earlier this week. Valentine, had quite the adventure ferreting his way into the shower drain and then deeper into the waste pipes. 12.01.2022 CFA has revoked the Total Fire Ban from 1500 hours (3pm) in both the Mallee and Wimmera Total Fire Ban Districts. Today was declared a day of Total Fire Ban (TF...B) for the Mallee and Wimmera districts based on the forecast of hot and dry conditions and strong winds. The conditions today are milder than predicted and the severe fire danger rating will not be reached. CFA is aware of the impact TFBs have on farming communities and associated agricultural practices and are constantly monitoring fire and weather conditions. 02.01.2022 While this year’s Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb looked a little different to usual, participants were still able to raise over $200,000 for mental health charities. The event, which wrapped up on Saturday, saw 355 CFA participants from 143 brigades climb 3,701,257 steps throughout the month, raising much-needed funds and breaking down the stigma of mental illness.
