22.01.2022 June Packing Day postponed to Sunday 05/07 Unfortunately due to the weather, we will be postponing our packing day to next Sunday (05/07) as our set up is outdoors. Although were disappointed to do this, it means that you can continue to drop off items at Qaswa House until next week inshallah ... 21.01.2022 Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, CFHWA has taken the decision to change this months packing day from a public event. We really appreciate all of our volunteers ...and your safety comes first. We will be monitoring the situation and will make announcements closer to the time for Aprils packing. 18.01.2022 GET TO KNOW OUR HAMPER RECEIVERS One of the incredible agencies we provide hampers to are the non profit organisation CARAD-Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees Inc. This Perth based organisation are devoted to empowering and refurbishing the lives of those seeking safety in our community with dignity. Not only have they provided settlement assistance and support to refugees holding Temporary Protection Visas, but since January 2000 they have managed to assist... almost 5000 refugees and asylum seekers in Perth, Western Australia. * Asylum seeker: A person who is waiting for their protection visa application to be assessed. ** Refugee: Someone who has applied to Australia for protection due to a well-founded fear of persecution, and been granted a visa. They may apply in Australia or offshore. ***Detainee: A person held in an immigration detention centre in Australia, and is most likely to be an asylum seeker. 14.01.2022 COVID-19 is having a devastating effect on communities directly and indirectly. The already vulnerable in our community are particularly at risk during this time when stockpiling and panic shopping are leaving shelves empty and prices being hiked. The Community Food Hamper Projects work is more essential now than ever and we need your support. Please donate non perishable food items before the 28th of March or contact us to donate money which our volunteers will use to shop... around and find the items needed. Taking all advice into consideration for everyones safety, this months packing will not be open to the public. We are so grateful to all our volunteers who help us out and make the project the success it is but we want to ensure that you are safe. This months packing will be carried out by the core team only and delivered to our service providers. We thank you for your support and send love and prayers to everyone. We kept social distancing in mind and gloved up and all of our special volunteers wore masks to ensure their safety and the safety of our recipients.... We pray for a world returning to "normal" and well be back next month.
