24.01.2022 It felt right to give this connection a couple more days. There is no rush in this after all. What Ive learnt from you is that the choice to choose just on...e tree has been, for many of you, quite tricky. Myself included, as I reminisce about these beautiful forest giants I saw last year in Tasmania. Have you wanted to swap trees, run between trees, or been swept up in the euphoric search to find the next tree. A feeling of home or a nurture bond has been the common expressed words from those that have settled into their tree friends presence. Focusing us to become still. To sit. To ground. If your tree friend has revealed their name to you feel free to share it below, or simply add a heart, or if you prefer anonymity write it in your own private journal. If you need the first step guide again here it is. Remembering you can join, or revisit this step, at any time: www.facebook.com/134534650001038/posts/2826210600833416/

23.01.2022 The end of the year has been far busier than we would have liked, but we want to thank everyone who has supported the CFS during 2019. 22.01.2022 Very Important Road closure update if you are driving to WA! All roads, including back tracks, from SA to WA including the Eyre Highway are closed and are expec...ted to remain closed for the next 5 days due to bushfires. 21.01.2022 The past week has seen some tough fire conditions and with it warming up again, we are expecting to see a return to dangerous fire weather over the weekend. Bet...ween record breaking temperatures, a tragic road toll, and deployments to Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland and for the past three months NSW, it really has been a trying year for CFS Personnel. However you plan to spend the next couple of days, we ask that you be safe and act sensibly so that, where possible, our volunteers can relax and enjoy some time with their families and loved ones. Please abide by Fire Danger Season rules and moderate your behaviour to suit the conditions, be careful and rest when driving, and report any dangerous behaviour to SAPOL. We would also like to give a special shout out to the South Australian personnel from CFS, National Parks and Wildlife, MFS, SES and SA Ambulance, who are currently deployed to support firefighting efforts in NSW. Were incredibly proud and thankful for you giving up this special time to help our friends in NSWRFS. Merry Christmas, and have a restful, peaceful festive season.

17.01.2022 Transition to the workplace as COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift As we enter a transition period of returning to the workplace and training in small groups of 10, please be mindful of those around you who may not be so comfortable and still feeling anxious about the world wide situation that COVID-19 has created. One strategy to support each other is to check on others -talk to your colleagues face to face, or pick up the phone and say hello to a colleague, friend or family... member you havent spoken to for a while. This is not only good for you but you could save a life at the other end and improve yours and their mental health. Some tips on how to do this are contained in the RUOK Mateship Manual and especially note the signs to look for on pages 4 and 5 Trust the Signs and signs to look for. Check it out on the following link: https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com//RUOK_DisasterEmergenc SA Government Statewide Wellbeing Strategy "Open your World launched about a week ago and includes themes such as: Look after you and your family Connect with others Stay active and healthy Learn and experience new things Discover the strategies which aims to build community resilience and support physical, social, mental and community wellbeing in response to the COVID-19 crisis from the link below: https://openyourworld.sa.gov.au/about-the-open-your-world-s

13.01.2022 A REMINDER TO ALL: Although the fire danger season in the Lower South East Fire Ban District does not begin until December 1st we are asking residents to use common sense and be vigilant if igniting pile burns on their property. 10.01.2022 A message from Chief Officer, Mark Jones: "2020 has thrown plenty of curve balls our way. "I am very aware of the stress that the bushfires and COVID-19 have p...laced on South Australian families. The social, financial and emotional strain has made it a trying time for so many. "Please take some time today to ask your friends and colleagues, "Are you OK?" and dont accept a first answer or a fob off. "It doesnt cost a thing to ask the question, but it could start a conversation that could change a life."

10.01.2022 FIRE BAN & FIRE DANGER RATING ADVICE FOR 09 January 2020 Issued at: 16:40 on 08 January 2020 TOTAL FIRE BANS... Media and the public are advised that TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for 09 January 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yorke Peninsula - Severe Kangaroo Island - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you dont have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au

10.01.2022 Spring is here and it is time to start thinking and working around your home in readiness for the 2020-21 Fire Danger Season. Below are a few tips you might consider. Look out for events happening through out the month of October in our "Be Bushfire Ready" month.

07.01.2022 The Kangaroo Island Ravine fire is now classified as safe. The CFS Chief Officer Mark Jones would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and support for the community during this extremely challenging time and the ongoing recovery efforts that will continue into the future.

07.01.2022 If you live, work or travel in an area where bushfires can occur you need to be aware of where you can relocate to if you are threatened by a bushfire. https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au//prepa/bushfire_safer_places.jsp

07.01.2022 ANZAC Day commemorative service and your CFS Field Uniform Greetings, With ANZAC Day on the planning list for many brigades across the state, I thought it was a... good opportunity to clarify the regulations in SOP 2.18 around uniforms and ceremonies. Field Uniforms are acceptable for brigade members and volunteers to wear for ceremonial and commemorative events, including ANZAC Day. Those appearing in an official role, as part of the service, should wear Ceremonial Dress or Day Dress Uniform where available. Those attending as part of their brigade to an ANZAC Day may wear the Field Uniform, but only in its entirety, which includes black shoes and long sleeve shirts with the sleeves rolled down. Dark blue Field Uniform caps and beanies are acceptable, but should be removed during parts of the ceremony where they are not appropriate to be warn. Rank identification (epaulettes) must be worn, with Brigade Firefighters without rank to wear the epaulettes with Country Fire Service printed on them. Awards, medals and ribbons may be worn, with medals of relatives allowed to be worn on ANZAC Day on the right breast. ANZAC Day is a very important day for our community and our organisation. Remember while you are wearing your Field Uniform you are representing your Brigade, Region and the SA Country Fire Service, so if you wish to join in on activities following the Dawn Service or ANZAC Day Parade, please plan to have a second set of clothes you can change into. Sincerely, Greg Nettleton, AFSM CFS Chief Officer
