21.01.2022 With exam time approaching, you might be feeling overwhelmed by your busy workload. Try mastering these tips to help you become more efficient with your study time and stay on top of things: Break up your day. Allocate 1-2 hours for each subject and take short breaks in between. If you’re having trouble focusing, switch to a different task. Have a change of scenery. You don’t need to stay stuck at your desk try studying in the backyard or listening to lecture recordings... while going outside for a walk. Different people work better at different times of the day, so do what works best for you. Leave the most challenging tasks for your best time of the day and do something less demanding during the other times. Check out our online learning page for more tips and resources: youth.greaterdandenong.com/content/33645/online-learning

20.01.2022 Story telling has been used for hundreds of years to bring people and communities together. Here in the City of Greater Dandenong, we have so many stories to tell of people experiencing Australian culture for the first time. When Aish’s parents migrated to Australia in the 1970’s their Aussie neighbours invited them to a BBQ. The invitation read Bring Your Own (BYO) Plate.... Whilst they thought it odd to have to bring an empty plate, they assumed the neighbours didn’t have enough plates to serve the food. So they brought their own plate.empty! They caught on quickly upon arriving at the BBQ that BYO plate meant to bring a plate of food to share with everyone, not to just bring an empty plate. We hope this story inspires you to share part of your story with us. Send us a message or call 9793 2155 if you would like to feature your story about your first experience of Australian culture on our social media page.
