22.01.2022 One of our recipients used their grant to contribute towards the purchase of a piano. Here’s what they had to say: "Because of Covid-19 I spend more time at home, since I have a piano I have tried to take advantage of this period of time to practice playing the piano. Since I am an overseas student and living alone, this could have been a very difficult time, but thanks to the CG foundation, my wellbeing is a lot better!" 15.01.2022 This journey has at times, been the definition of hell. But the other day when I laughed and cried as I was shaving my head due to hair loss from continuing chemo, I was finally proud of the person that I have become. So, try to focus on one day at a time, keep your mental health and your mind in a positive safe place, bring back your thoughts and focus on the good in life. One of our grant recipients, Sumeyya, shares her experience of her cancer treatment. Sumeyya used h...er CGF Grant to fund training sessions to support her wellbeing. 06.01.2022 One of our recipients used their CGF grant to fund pottery classes! "The wellness grant was something that I had not even imagined when I was diagnosed, but I'm so thankful I was able to access it. It was so wonderful to be able to treat myself and my partner after going through a traumatic time. I spent my grant on tickets to a hand building with clay workshop for my partner and myself. We unfortunately have been unable to complete our clay creations due to covid-19 restri...ctions, but we are both looking forward to doing so when restrictions are lifted. It was a really fun experience for both of us and I'd love to be able to work with clay more in the future." 03.01.2022 Founder and trustee, Andrew Thomas, is aiming to walk/cycle 100km in October for the Walk for Wellbeing challenge! Here's what he had to say about participating in the challenge: The last few months have shown us that it's not easy being forced to isolate from those we care about, and that the toll on our mental health is immense. Yet this is often what cancer patients all over the world have to deal with when undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy.... My partner Christina, who lost her battle with Leukaemia in 2015, loved visits from family and friends - but that was not always possible given the effects of treatment on her immune system. Her emotional wellbeing was a result of little things - being able to see the sun through the window, learning to meditate and being creative. This is why I'm taking part in the 2020 Walk for Wellbeing; an effort to raise money for the CGF in order to continue to support cancer patients in their mental wellbeing and wellness. To support Andrew and follow his progress, head to his fundraising page: https://personalchallenge.gofundraise.com.au//Andrew-18798

If you know anyone eligible, send them to our website! https://cgfoundation.org.au/receive-a-grant/

01.01.2022 Founder and trustee, Andrew Ghobadi, is aiming to walk 80km in October for the Walk for Wellbeing challenge! Here is what he had to say about participating in the challenge: It’s easy to forget how nourishing a walk outside can be, being able to go anywhere at anytime. For most including myself COVID-19, amongst other things, has been a reminder. ... I’m joining the campaign in memory of my sister Christina and to support the important work of CG Foundation in providing wellness to those like her through their grants program. The Walk for Wellbeing is a chance to put on those trainers, press play on that podcast calling your name and go for that walk you know will improve your wellbeing all in the name of raising money to share that sense of wellbeing with young people living with cancer. To support Andrew and follow his progress, head to his fundraising page: https://personalchallenge.gofundraise.com.au//Andrew-87727 Whoever raises the most for the Walk for Wellbeing challenge will win one of these caps!
